♡Hey There Delilah♡
I've been absolutely obsessed with this song and Dodie's cover of it. I thought it was really cute. I was originally going to make this Rowbrina because it fit better, but I decided against it. There's the mention of self harm, so triggering warning!!!! I hope you enjoy!
Riley Matthews is 15 years old. She still goes to high school in New York City. Her girlfriend Maya Hart is over 1000 miles away attempting to start her music career.
Someone at school had outed Riley as gay. From then on, she began cutting. Of course the brunette knew it was wrong, but she didn't know how to deal with the pain, the names, all the bullying. She just wanted to be in her girlfriend Maya's arms. Riley absolutely hated being so far away from Maya, and it was slowly killing her not being able to be with her in person. One day Maya facetimed Riley. The brunette was ecstatic, she hadn't been able to talk to Maya in so long because of the girl's music career that was just taking off. She quickly answered the call, desperate to see the blonde.
"I miss you so much, you don't even know..." Riley started sadly. She hadn't told Maya what she'd been doing to herself because she didn't want her to worry. Maya looked at Riley sympathetically.
"I know Princess, I know. I want to be able to hold you and never have to let go."
"Yeah, that'd be really nice."
"I wish I could visit, I really do-" Maya paused as her sister came in.
"Maya, you have to get ready." She said before walking out. Riley looked at Maya on the screen and began to tear up. It has been so long since she saw Maya. She missed her so much that it hurt.
"Please don't go...." Riley said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Oh Riles, baby please don't cry."
"I just miss you so much."
"I know, I miss you too. I love you Princess, but I really have to go."
"I love you too..." Riley said quietly as Maya hung up, leaving the brunette alone in her room with an empty heart.

Maya smiled as she sat on her bed. The only reason she needed to leave was because she was catching a flight to NYC. She could tell her brunette was hurting by the look on her pretty face, so Maya decided to visit Riley. She had set everything up with Riley's parents. Riley's parents were taking her to the airport to pick up her 'cousins', but Maya would be there with her guitar singing a song she believed described Riley and herself perfectly.

"I still don't understand why I had to come..." Riley complained as she walked towards the luggage claim with her parents. She then paused as they got closer, hearing the strum of a guitar, and the voice of someone familiar. But it couldn't be her... Could it?
"Hey there Delilah
What's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away
But girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes you do
Times Square don't shine as bright as you
I swear it's true"
Riley knew that voice.... She pushed her way though the crowd of people to see her blonde beauty sitting on the edge of a water fountain next to the luggage claim with a guitar in her hand. It was Maya.... Her Maya Hart who she hadn't seen in months, the girl she was helplessly in love with.
"Hey there, Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right here if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side"
Maya sat on the edge of the water fountain, blue eyes meeting soft brown. Riley began to tear up at the sight of the blonde.
"Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me"
"Hey there, Delilah
I know times are getting hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good"
"Hey there, Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all"
"Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me"
"A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah, I can promise you
That by the time that we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame"
"Hey there, Delilah
You be good and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be making history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
Hey there, Delilah, here's to you
This one's for you"
"Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
Oh it's what you do to me
What you do to me."
After she was done, Maya put down her guitar and opened her arms while looking at the brunette that she loved and began to tear up herself. Riley bolted straight towards Maya and into her arms. Maya held the girl tight, rocking back and forth as the brunette shook with sobs.
"I'm here, Princess." Maya said softly, pulling back a tiny bit so she could look at Riley's beautiful face that she hasn't seen in person for so long. Riley looked down at her girlfriend since she was shorter, tears still rolling down her cheeks.
"I missed you so fucking much. S-so much happened while you were gone." The brunette said choking on tears as Maya wiped them away.
"No more tears Honey, no more tears." Maya hushed, pulling the taller girl to her chest and stroking her long brown hair in a soothing manner. Riley sniffled, gripping onto Maya's shirt.
"Can we go home?" Riley asked quietly, voice slightly muffled by the blonde's shirt.
"Whatever you want, Princess." Maya said softly, pulling away from Riley and grabbing her guitar from the fountain. She held Riley's hand and intertwined their fingers, turning back to Riley's parents who had gotten her luggage for her.

Though the car ride back the the Matthews' was silent, it wasn't an awkward silence. It was comfortable. Riley was cuddled up to Maya, the blonde's arms wrapped around the brunette's body. Even though there were no words, they knew that all they needed was eachother.
When they got to the Matthews household, both girls brought Maya's luggage to Riley's room. Maya had gotten everything she wanted except one thing. Riley's lips.
"Hey Riles?" The blonde asked, looking at the other girl who was sitting on her bed. Maya licked her lips, looking into the brunette's doe brown eyes, then to her pink lips that she'd become addicted to.
"Yeah Peaches?" Riley questioned as the blonde got close to her, faces inches apart. To this day the action still made Riley's heart beat out of her chest. Maya then leaned in the rest of the way, lightly pushing Riley onto the bed and climbed on top of her, hands tangled in the other girl's soft brown hair. Riley gripped the blonde's hips, their lips fitting together like two missing puzzle pieces. Maya pulled away having to catch her breath, and was still hovering over Riley. She moved a strand of the other girl's brown hair out of her face and smiled softly.
"I missed that...." Maya murmured, looking at her girlfriend fondly. Riley looked up at her a bit confused.
"You missed what?" Riley asked cluelessly. Maya grinned resting her forehead on Riley's.
"Your lips."
"Don't leave me again..."
"I would never."
