Review 31: 27 Bowls of Ice Cream

Book name: 27 Bowls of Ice cream
Author: dustychalks
Genre: Romance
No. of chapters: 8/10
Mature?: No

➵ First impression: Just one thing came to my mind, "Is this gonna be like 'I'll make you fall in love with me in 27 days'?"

➵ Cover: It's cute and simple. However, I think the author's name should have been given a little limelight instead of "Only on Wattpad". Rest all is perfect!

➵ Title: It's perfect, and even gave me the curiosity to just start reading already!

➵ Blurb: I would recommend creating more strong mystery vibes for the third paragraph, i.e., "But is she ready to...".

The starting two paragraphs went nicely and gave necessary details without revealing anything else, especially for Rudra. That was an amazing idea since his character is a mystery till where I've read. But the third paragraph turns off the whole mood.

➵ Plot: Okay. Please. I've read and tried writing, so many stories on coping up from heartbreak and/or breakup. This book not only has a quirk to the concept but also have such good metaphors & philosophical dialogues/monologues that, I guess, it would be my go-to book recommendation on coping up trope.

The quotes, the simple yet deep meaning behind them, it's all just so good! I wish I had some emotions left inside me, this book would be a perfect roller-coaster ride!

➵ Character/s:

Nicola: I love how she's all alarmed and have brains that not to trust a random stranger - this good - immediately. Most of the books have this naïve protagonist who'll trust any stranger, if it's another protagonist, to any extent that their world starts revolving around them. Not only does Nicola defies this trope, but she's also really relatable. Like who doesn't keep their guards up when someone this too good to be true approaches?

Yeah, she's a little too loyal and trusting towards Lyra, despite the (all wrong) signals she's giving right now to me. Which, I guess, is her flaw. She becomes too trustworthy towards the ones who have her back. But in that process, she may end up getting hurt and the same whole process of getting out of that situation.

To me, Nicola is a perfectly flawed character.

Rudra: I love how you kept a nice mystery over his character. The very first question came to my mind, when he approached Nicola, was, "But why is he doing this? What will he get in this challenge?"

One thing which I hate is: He's too patient, or should I say, too unrealistic when Nicola insulted him? The words she spat should have been enough for him to reply or just snap at her, but no. He went on caring for her!? Making me feel extremely weird about him. Is he not human?

➵ Flow & pace: Slow and steady, which this story deserves. Keep up with this pace, and it's all good!

➵ Grammar: Surprisingly, I haven't found a single grammatical mistake. Kudos!

➵ Overall impression: It's a full-fledged roller coaster ride, where you'll learn so many things. The metaphors and the quotes are my favourite part of this book! I highly recommend this book to everyone!

➵ Suggestions:

- Please ask the graphic designer to give the author's name the significance it deserves.

- Rewrite the blurb's third paragraph.

- Give Rudra some real flaws, and don't let him act like a robot or AI.
