Review 30: Homosexually Straight
Book name: Homosexually Straight
Author: sarcastic-mess
Genre: Teen Fiction, LGBT fiction, Young Adult
No. of chapters: Prologue + 6 chapters
Mature?: No
^ I would suggest you mark the book as Mature, cause of the colourful language and bullying.
➵ First impression: I've never read or even seen a book like this!
➵ Cover: It's so beautiful and minimalist. It looks like a paperback book's cover to me!
➵ Title: It felt like clickbait at first. The wordplay is just perfect!
➵ Blurb: Why is everything so perfect here? I was so intrigued by the blurb. It provides all the possible information, and at the same time arises curiosity for the story.
➵ Plot: Okay. I was just shocked at the irony of this book. Bullied because of having "not-your-normal" (I mean no shame to gay couples, it's just the stupid thinking of heterosexual people in real life and I don't support it) parents to being bullied because of being heterosexual. And I suppose the plot is now going to progress since you have almost settled the character introduction.
➵ Character/s: Welp- so many characters I'm confused.
i) Kirlia Hemmings: She might look very innocent and naïve in the first three chapters but just as the story progresses we see a stronger version of hers.
ii) Lucas Livingston: Why are the good guys this good!? Like please, I can't even imagine him getting hurt and/or bullied.
iii) The Rest Five: Since I'm still so confused about so many characters, and even though all have a distinct character sketch and quirks it will take time to get to know each of them properly like Kirlia. But I liked Zeta and Nick the most!
➵ Flow & pace: The pace is going smoothly, but I'm still confused about the Flow part. I don't get certain things so easily. They're all laughing or getting angry at the beginning of a chapter and here I'm all confused until that part ends. So, I guess, the chapters need a proper starting point.
➵ Grammar: There were a few mistakes, which can be overlooked.
➵ Overall impression: I'm liking this book and honestly, there's not much to improve since everything is already so great! The humour is a point when the readers are getting bored; drama is constant. And yes, count me as a permanent reader. (^_^)
➵ Suggestions:
- Mark the book Mature, and please mention the reasons in the blurb itself.
- Progress for the main plot and in this duration let the readers get familiar with the Scandalous Seven.

Note: I know it's a very short review, but I do find everything great in this book! And since it's just six chapters, I can't even say much appreciationn about it.
