Seventeen

Jenny pulled the trigger of her gun, a glass bottle that had been set down on an old car shattering to pieces. She paused, turning her head at the sound of footsteps to see Molly approaching her cautiously.

"You want a go at this?" Jenny asked, indicating to her gun as she shot another bottle. Molly flinched at the noise, sighing.

"I know you don't trust me. And I get it." Jenny squinted as the sun beamed in her face, turning to Molly.

"What makes you think that?" She joked, shooting another bottle. Molly flinched again.

"Maybe because you're shooting a gun while I'm trying to talk to you? Or that you weren't very quiet about saying you don't trust me." Jenny paused, lowering her gun.

"You're right. I don't trust you. And it's very hard for me to trust people. I act like I do, but I'm secretly planning on how friendships end." Jenny turned to Molly, leaning on one leg. "So why are you out here if I don't trust you?"

"Because I want you to trust me." Molly stated, stepping forward again. Jenny didn't move. "I know it was wrong of Dean and my Dad to not tell you and Sam about me. And with the information that you know... I wouldn't trust me, either. But see where I'm coming from, okay?" Jenny stayed quiet, tucking her gun away.

"Alright. I'll hear you out but that doesn't mean I trust you." Molly smiled a little at that, nodding.

"I said I was trapped in Hell for almost three thousand years. I know you were there for at least 40. So you have to understand why I would never want to work with demons, let alone anything like Azazel." Jenny crossed her arms and nodded in agreement. "I was dead for a long time. I never got a chance to live my life. Go to school or college. Be the annoying little sister to my brothers."

Jenny hummed in amusement and Molly smiled, falling quiet. "I just want you to know that I don't want to hurt any of you. After being forced to do that for centuries... The last thing I want to do is lose new friends."

"Well, I'm not your friend." Jenny answered quickly. Molly looked down in defeat. "Not yet, at least." The Winchester girl looked up, a little hopeful.

"Tell me. Did Castiel fill you in on Sam?" Jenny wondered. Molly nodded slowly. "Do you need demon blood to... Resurrect the dead?"

"No. No I spent a long time surviving off of demon blood while in Hell... I've learned to control it without the blood."

"Does that mean Sam could learn how to exorcise demons without drinking their blood?" Jenny wondered. Molly was quiet for a moment, shaking her head.

"No. It took me much longer than a single human life to control my power. Sam won't be able to in this lifetime." Jenny gave Molly a defeated look. "But that doesn't mean he needs to keep drinking demon blood. His powers may be able to stop Lilith, but if we give him small doses of it—"

"Absolutely not. Sam told us he was done with demon blood."

"He's not. Jennifer, it's like a drug. Over time, Sam with have withdrawals far worse than someone would if they were on heroin, or cocaine. He will be in a lot of pain, and he might die because of it." Jenny's eyes widened, now fearing for Sam.

"He could die? But what if he's only been doing it for a little while?"

"If Sam had only been doing it since you went to Hell, he might be fine. But that doesn't mean he won't suffer." The two were quiet for a moment. Molly sighed quietly, changing the subject. "Do you think I could go on a case with you three?"

"That depends. Do you plan on risking your life?"

"I told you. I can't die." Molly outstretched her arms. "Do you believe me?"

"Not really." Jenny shook her head, tilting it. "Shooting you wouldn't do me any good, if that's what you're implying."

"Bonding experience, Jennifer! This is how you gain trust, isn't it?" Jenny let out a laugh, looking up to the sky.

"Shooting someone is how you lose their trust. Did you ever interact with people?" Molly dropped her arms, shaking her head.

"I might be a little rusty in the people skills department." Jenny laughed again, and Molly smiled. "But can I?"

Jenny's laugh faded but her smile still stayed. After a moment, she shrugged with a nod. "I never mind having an extra set of hands on a case." Molly raised her hands in the air with victory, grinning.

"I swear. I'll prove I'm a good Hunter."

"She passed all of the tests. That's Molly Winchester." Bobby said as Molly raised her hands up, smiling.

"See? I told you guys I wasn't lying." She stated and the three looked over at her. Molly clamped
me mouth shut, tapping her fingers on her knees awkwardly. "I'll just be here if you need me."

"Good. That's good. I found a case in Pennsylvania. What do you say on letting her tag along, Jen?" Dean nudged her gently and Jenny sighed, nodding.

"Yeah. I just need to grab something from upstairs, I'll meet you guys in the car." Jenny turned out of the living room and up the stairs, heading straight for her bedroom. She shut the door, looking around in hopes of seeing Castiel first.

After a moment, she walked towards her bed and sat down, shutting her eyes. "Honestly don't know if you can hear me or not, Cas... But I'd really like some answers."

Jenny waited a moment, opening on eye and peeked around. She sighed in defeat, shaking her head. Standing up, Jenny grabbed a book off of her nightstand, going to open the door.

Castiel stood in the doorway and Jenny's eyes widened as he walked in. "Wow, thanks for finally listening."

"I have higher priorities than coming to you every time I hear you pray."  Castiel defended and Jenny scoffed, shutting her door.

"Really? But you have time to go behind my back, and Sam and Dean's backs and talk to their dead sister?" Castiel turned around to face Jenny.

"Molly Winchester is necessary in bringing Lilith down. I had to make sure that she had good intentions when I raised her."

"Which you also failed to mention. How could you do that, Cas? Without telling any of us?" Jenny questioned and Castiel stayed quiet. "Do you see how that could piss us off? She had been dead for over twenty-years."

"And if I let her stay that way, you would all be dead for twenty more." Castiel took one step forward, Jenny stepping back. "I don't need to go to you with every little decision I make. What I do is not your business."

Jenny clenched her jaw, humming. "Fine. I'll respect it. But doing this? Bringing back someone that has no idea how to live... You'll screw us all over." Jenny walked out of her bedroom, leaving Castiel.

"Who were you talking to? Was it the angel?" Jenny turned around to see Bobby, who was cleaning one of his guns.

"Yep. He's just telling me the same shit Molly did. But only frustratingly vague." Jenny smiled forcefully and Bobby sighed, shaking his head. "What?"

"I don't know. But this... You gotta be careful, Jenny." Bobby warned. Jenny stared at him for a moment before nodding, and smiled.

"I'll be careful. Promise."
