"So, they're all people we know?" Sam asked as he, Dean, Jenny and Bobby walked through the house.

"Not just know. People we couldn't save." Dean stated the obvious as Jenny paused. The three boys paused next, turning to face her. "What is it, Jen?"

"I saw something on Nathaniel. I think it was a tattoo but— I don't remember seeing one on him before. It looked like a brand?"

"I saw a mark, too, on Henriksen." Sam spoke, Bobby looked between the two.

"What did it look like?"

"Uh, paper?" Jenny raised a finger and Dean handed her a slip along with a pen. "Thanks." She leaned over a nearby table, sketching the mark quickly before turning back around to Sam.

"That's it." Sam nodded in confirmation as Bobby took the paper from Jenny, inspecting it.

"I may have seen this before. We got to move. Follow me." Sam, Dean and Jenny frowned in confusion as they followed Bobby.
"Okay, where are we going?"

"Some place safe, you idiot." Bobby snapped at Sam, who raised his brows in offense. Bobby picked up a few books before leading the younger Hunters to a basement room. It was made entirely out of iron, covered from floor to ceiling in pentagrams and Devil's Traps.

"Bobby, is this..." Bobby nodded to Sam

"Solid iron. Completely coated in salt. 100% ghost-proof." Bobby smirked a bit, nodding at the door.

"You built a panic room?"

"I had a weekend off." He shrugged, opening the door.

"Bobby." Dean placed a firm hand on Bobby's shoulder, smiling. "You're awesome."

"Panic room was Jenny's idea." Bobby gestured to Jenny, who shrugged with a smirk.

———

Jenny tapped some salt into a shotgun round, glaring into it before clicking a cap on. After a moment, she sighed, slumping.

"See, this is why I can't get behind God." Dean spoke, Jenny's brows raising at him like he had just read her mind.

"What are you talking about?" Sam frowned at his brother, who set a bullet down.

"If he doesn't exist, fine. Bad shit happens to good people. That's how it is. There's no rhyme or reason— just random, horrible, evil— I get it, okay. I can roll with that. But if he is out there, what's wrong with him? Where the hell is he while all these decent people are getting torn to shreds? How does he live with himself? You know, why doesn't he help?"

"I ain't touching this one with at 10-foot pole." Bobby shook his head. Dean stayed quiet, nodding slowly.

"Centuries of famine, plagues and wars." Jenny had a hard look on her face, looking to the three. "And we just now discovered angels exist. Why didn't they try and stop any of it?" The four kept looking at one another, but none of them had an answer.

Bobby cleared his throat. "Found it."

"What?" Sam looked to Bobby, who raised the book he was holding.

"The symbol you saw— the brand on the ghosts..." Bobby trailed off and Jenny stood up.

"Yeah Bobby?"

"Mark of the Witness." Jenny's expression dropped, Sam and Dean noticing that she already knew what it was.

"Witness? Witness to what?"

"The unnatural." Jenny answered Sam, turning to him and Dean. "People that died due to the supernatural. These ghosts were forced to rise. Nathaniel... I saw him go to Heaven. Something brought him down to kill me. Just like Meg tried to kill Sam. Someone rose them... on purpose."

"Who?" Sam asked again and Bobby scoffed.

"Do I look like I know? But whoever it was used a spell so powerful it left a mark, a brand on their souls. Whoever did this had big plans. It's called "the rising of the witnesses." It figures into an ancient prophecy."

"Wait, wait. What -- what book is that prophecy from?" Dean questioned next.

"Well, the widely distributed version's just for tourists, you know. But long story short -- Revelations. This is a sign." Bobby sighed quietly. Sam, Dean and Jenny frowned at him.

"A sign of what?" The trio asked in unison. Bobby gave them a strange look before shaking his head.

"The apocalypse." Jenny stared at Bobby for a minute, nodded before she started giggling uncontrollably.

"Right. Right the apocalypse." She slapped her hands together, nodding. "What a great time to be resurrected." She mumbled, starting to bite her nail.

"Apocalypse? The apocalypse, apocalypse?" Dean repeated, scoffing in disbelief. "The four horsemen, pestilence, $5-a-gallon-gas apocalypse?"

"Dean, if you say it one more time, I'm locking you in this panic room." Jenny warned, and Dean rolled his eyes.

"That's the one. The rise of the witnesses is a— a mile marker." Bobby explained, Sam nodding slowly.

"Okay, so, what do we do now?"

"Road trip. Grand Canyon, Star Trek Experience. Bunny Ranch. We can go to Minnesota, Jen." Dean nudged Jenny, but she shook her head.

"First things first. How about we survive our friends out there?" Bobby pointed to the panic room's entrance.

"Great. Any ideas aside from staying in this room until Judgment Day?"

"It's a spell, Dean." Jenny indicated to the paper in front of Dean, picking it up. "It sends the witnesses back to rest. It should work."

"Should? Great." Sam scoffed. Bobby rolled his eyes.

"If I translate it correctly. I think I got everything we need here at the house."

"Any chance you got everything we need here in this room?" Dean asked with a tiny look of hope. Bobby shook his head.

"So, you thought our luck was gonna start now all of a sudden? Spell's got to be cast over an open fire."

"The fireplace in the library." Sam snapped his fingers and Bobby nodded.

"Bingo."

"I hope that's all I play when I retire." Jenny grumbled, sighing loudly with a nod.

"That's just not as appealing as a, uh, ghost-proof panic room, you know?" Dean joked as he prepared himself to leave the panic room.

"Cover each other. And aim careful. Don't run out of ammo until I'm done, or they'll shred you. Ready?" Bobby warned. Dean looked to Jenny, almost scared that if he turned away from her for a second, then one of the ghosts would get to her.

The four made their way out of the room, and head towards the stairs. A ghost sat on the stairs, a young man in his early 20s with curly hair.

"Hey, Dean. You remember me?" Jenny's brows upturned in remorse as she remembered Ronald from that shapeshifter case. Man-droids would have been better.

"Ronald, huh? With the laser eyes? I wish I could say it's good to see you." Dean spoke light-heartedly as Ronald stood up, angry.

"I am dead because of you. You were supposed to help me!" Jenny raised her shotgun and shot Ronald. Dean turned to Jenny, who lowered her shotgun.

"We don't have time to talk." Jenny made her way up the stairs, followed by Sam, Bobby and Dean. The three walked into the living room, where Sam then created a salt circle, Jenny starting the fireplace.

"Upstairs, linen closet -- red hex box. It'll be heavy." Bobby told Sam, who nodded and rushed off.

"Bobby." Jenny turned to see two young girls. She froze for a minute before Dean shot the girls.

"Kitchen. Cutlery drawer. It's got a false bottom. Hemlock, opium." Bobby told Jenny, who stood up from the fireplace and ran to the kitchen. "Dean, go to my bedroom. There's another false bottom in my desk drawer. Get wormwood."

Jenny rummaged through the drawers, frowning in confusion. "When the fuck did he rearrange the kitchen?" Jenny rushed to another drawer.

The kitchen door suddenly closed. "Jennifer?!" Bobby shouted.

"I'm okay Bobby! Keep working!"

"You're alright for now." Jenny spun around to see Nathaniel sitting at the kitchen table, legs crossed before he slowly stood up. A gunshot went off.

Jenny pulled out her own gun, shooting at Nate. She missed. She missed?

"Jennifer." Nate greeted coldly. Jenny didn't show an ounce of fear, or discomfort.

"I know what you're going to say, Nate." Jenny said quietly.

"No. You don't." Nate scoffed, stepping forward.

"You blame me for your death. I'm the one that killed you. It's my fault you're dead. I should have found a way to save you. And I didn't. I should have protected you." Jenny raised her gun again quickly, but it was thrown across the room. Her eyes widened.

"Not so fast. You think you won that fight with Azazel. But need I remind you I spent over 20 years... Trapped inside my own mind. Watching as someone else killed others with my hands. Blood is on my hands. And my blood is on yours."

Jenny gasped as Nate reached inside of Jenny's chest, gripping her heart. She could feel Nate squeeze her heart slowly, stopping it from pumping. She gasped for air as memories of that god awful night flashed through her mind.

"Jennifer Price. I thought you were supposed to be a fearless Hunter. I guess people lie too much." Pained tears slipped from Jenny's eyes as she stared into her brothers eyes. "Tell me how it's fair. You get saved from Hell— I die. Why do you deserve another chance, Jenny?"

Dean blasted through the kitchen door, shooting Nate. He sprinted to Jenny, who coughed as she regained her ability to breathe. He wrapped his arms around her.

"Jen? Jen are you okay?"

"No." She answered bluntly, coughing. Dean squeezed her gently, lifting her off the ground.

"Let's go." Jenny grabbed the ingredients and followed Dean back into the living room, where Sam and Bobby were waiting

Ronald appeared again as Dean was reloading his gun. He looked up at the ghost, scoffing a bit. "Ronald. Hey, come on, man. I thought we were pals."

"That's when I was breathing. Now I'm gonna eat you alive."

"Well...come on, I'm not a cheeseburger." Dean laughed and cocked his gun, pointing it at Ronald. But he vanished as Bobby started reciting some Latin. The windows blew open, wind filling the room. Jenny swatted her hair out of the way, looking to see that the salt was blown away.

Meg appeared next, Sam shooting her as Bobby continued to recite the spell. Nate was next, Jenny shooting him square in the chest.

Ronald appeared again and Jenny shot at him. Sam, Jenny and Dean continue to fire as the ghosts appear. Victor knocked Dean's gun out of his hands while he was reloading, and approached him. Dean grabbed another gun, and shot it, only to find it empty. He quickly picked up an iron rod and swung at Henriksen. Meg appeared and pushed Sam against the wall, trapping him there with a desk. Sam tried to push the desk away without success as Nate appeared behind Jenny, putting her into a headlock.

Jenny grunted out of shock, backing up with Nate and slammed herself into a wall as Nate had disappeared, reappearing directly in front of her.

"Jennifer! Sam!" Dean shouted as Nate wrapped his hands around Jenny's throat. She glared at Nate as he squeezed, Jenny gasping for air as she reached for an iron poker by the fireplace, swinging it at Nate. She sucked in a sharp breath, picking up her gun and rushing to Bobby, only to be interrupted by Ronald.

"Come on, Ronald!" Jenny shouted, pulling the trigger and shooting the man as Meg plunged her hand into Bobby's back. Jenny's eyes widened and she scrambled up onto her feet.

"Jenny!" Jenny caught the bowl of ingredients Bobby had dropped. "Fireplace!"

Jenny threw the bowl in the fire, which turned blue. The ghosts all disappeared and Bobby collapsed onto the ground. "Bobby?" Jenny asked in a worried tone, dropping the bowl and rushing to her father.

"Bobby?" Jenny helped the old man up and he nodded, indicating he was okay. Jenny looked to Dean, who was pushing the desk off of his brother.

———

Sam was asleep on the couch. Dean and Jenny were asleep on the floor nearby. Jenny stirred awake with a small gasp, looking around in confusion.

She rubbed her eyes as she had seen a blur standing in the kitchen. As she focused, Jenny noticed it was Castiel. She turned to Sam and Dean, who were still asleep.

Slowly, Jenny removed Dean's arm that was wrapped around her, slowly standing up and walking towards the kitchen to join Castiel.

"Excellent job with the witnesses." Castiel spoke bluntly and Jenny shut the kitchen door, a confused look on her face.

"So you knew we were being hunted?" She asked in a soft, almost silent tone.

"I was, uh, made aware." Castiel nodded. Jenny hummed.

"Well, thanks a lot for the assistance. I don't mean to sound like a bitch, but I almost got my heart ripped out of my chest."

"But you didn't." Castiel nodded once and Jenny clicked her tongue, staring at him.

"I thought angels were supposed to be empathetic creatures. Not robots with one mission. Where are the fluffy white wings and halos?" Jenny asked, gesturing above Castiel's head before dropping her arms to her sides.

"Read the Bible. Angels are warriors of God. I'm a soldier."

"Then why didn't you help us?" Jenny wondered, tilting her head at Castiel. He stared at her for a moment, calculating her emotions and facial expressions.

"I'm not here to perch on your shoulder. We had larger concerns."

"Concerns? What, did you miss an angels birthday? Because I almost died. Again! People, my people and my friends were getting ripped to shreds while you dealt with your 'larger concern.'" Jenny said with air quotes, still whispering. "And, need I add, that while all of this is going on, where the Hell is your boss? Is there even a God?"

"There's a God." Castiel nodded and Jenny hummed.

"Okay. Well, if there's a God, what is he waiting on? Massacres? Another plague? Monsters eating up all humans? The fucking apocalypse? Why can't he take two seconds out of his eternal life to help the poor ducks that are stuck in this dying planet?"

"The Lord works...—"

"If you say "in mysterious ways," so help me, Cass, I will kick your ass." Jenny pointed at Castiel accusingly, waiting for a moment. She didn't mean to give him a nickname so soon. Maybe he wouldn't mind but who really cared. She sighed, scratching her head. "So, Bobby was right... about the witnesses. This is some kind of a... a sign ... of the apocalypse."

"That's why we're here. Big things afoot."

"Do I want to know what kind of things?" Castiel stared at Jenny for a moment, wondering before he slowly shook his head.

"I sincerely doubt it, but you need to know. The rising of the witnesses is one of the 66 seals."

"The 66 Seals? You can't be serious." Jenny scoffed, turning away from Castiel and covered her face.

"I never joke. Those seals are being broken by Lilith."

"Lilith. She's the one I gave my soul to. She did the spell. She rose the witnesses." Jenny stated the obvious and Castiel nodded.

"Yes. And she fully intends on bringing you back to Hell. She doesn't like that I raised you. And not just here. 20 other hunters are dead."

"Right. She picked victims that the hunters couldn't save so that they would barrel right after us." Jenny scratched her chin in thought, turning back to Castiel.

"Lilith has a.... certain sense of humor."

"Well, we put those spirits back to rest. Right?" Castiel didn't move.

"It doesn't matter. The seal was broken."

"And if Lilith breaks all 66 seals... Then what?"

"Lucifer walks free." Jenny's brows raised in disbelief.

"Lucifer? No... No he's just a myth. Like... Like Unicorns. Or— Or Big Foot." Jenny shook her head as Castiel did.

"Three days ago, you thought there was no such thing as me. Why do you think we're here walking among you now for the first time in 2,000 years?"

"To stop Lucifer." Jenny stated the obvious, turning back around.

"That's why we've arrived."

"Well... You're doing a terrific job." She smiled forcefully, clearly sarcastic.

"We tried. And there are other battles, other seals. Some we'll win, some we'll lose. This one we lost. Our numbers are not unlimited. Six of my brothers died in the field this week. You think the armies of Heaven should just follow you around?" Castiel stepped towards Jenny, who looked him up and down like she could intimidate an angel. "There's a bigger picture here. You should show me some respect. I dragged you out of Hell. I can throw you back in."

Castiel suddenly vanished, leaving Jenny alone in the kitchen. She looked around in confusion, sighing through her nose.

———

Jenny stirred awake again. Sam and Dean were already awake and up and about.

"You all right? What's wrong, Jen?" Sam asked as he slipped his jacket on. Jenny sat up on the floor, thinking with a frown.

"So... You got no problem believing in... God and Angels?" Jenny asked Sam. Dean glanced to his brother and Sam looked at them, confused.

"No, not really."

"So... You believe in the Devil, too?" Jenny slowly looked up at Sam and Dean, who crossed their arms.

"Why are you asking us all this?"
