Chapter 58 - A Special Visitor

Ink's POV

  I rested my head against Error, feeling bored out of my mind. After my mother had visited me and told me of Geno's birthday, the both of us had planned to return to Zerania for a few days to attend the ball there. The only part that I absolutely hated was the journey. I found carriage rides to be terribly boring.

  Looking up at Error, I saw that he was passed out from exhaustion. Ever since the festival the vampire has been working to coordinate an attack as well as bring supplies in from the other territories. Error has not slept much due to constantly being busy with something.

A sigh slipped through my lips as I adjusted my position to get more comfortable. We still had at least a day before we arrived so I needed to find ways to fill the time. My first idea was to sleep for a while.

It took a some effort but eventually I felt myself become tired. Resting against Error seemed to help relax me. I suppose it was because I felt safe with him. As I fell asleep, I had a vision.

~~~~Vision~~~~
  I opened my eyes as I felt coherence return to me. I noticed that I was sitting on the ground with my back leaning against the trunk of a tree. A soft feeling on my arms caused my eyes to move to my clothing. I was wearing my formal black attire with its jeweled pieces.
  A thick forest surrounded me, filled with shadows that created illusions of things that were not there. Everything was dark as the moon was blocked out by the tree canopy above me. The sounds of rustling leaves could be heard, filling me with slight anxiety. Glowing eyes stared at me with hunger. I needed to find someplace that felt safer than here.
Standing up from the forest floor I looked around to decide which direction to go. It all looked the same, surely I would get lost if I went anywhere.
Suddenly I spotted something far away. It was a small light twinkling from the distance. Following that sparkle was the only option I had if I did not want to be eaten by the creatures in the forest.
I made sure not to make any noise while carefully weaving through the trees. Animals, presumably small rodents, darted into bushes when they saw me. The distance between the light and I slowly closed and eventually I found an opening within the forest.
It was a field full of red lilies swaying gently under the moonlight. What was most eye catching were the white tables and chairs centered in the field. Understanding that I had no other way to go I walked over to the arrangement. The table was empty and no one was sat at it.
I took a small scan, looking at the lilies and the forest.
???: We finally meet.
My body froze in its place and I quickly turned around. Despite me being the only one here there was suddenly a woman sitting at the table with a tea set. She was gorgeous, pale skin and long black hair. Her eyes were velvety red and I saw fangs poking out from her burgundy youthful lips.
???: Please join me.
  She smiled which showed her fangs more. For some reason I felt no fear around her as I sat down in front of her without hesitation. After unknowingly staring at her I was beginning to figure out who she was.
Me: You are...
  The woman nodded as she gave me a warm smile, it almost made me flustered. No wonder she was loved by so many. She was more beautiful than any of her statues.
Mary: And you the grace of vampires. I have been eager to meet you. Rose tea?
  She asked and I nodded. She poured me a cup and elegantly offered it to me. As I took a sip I actually tasted the flavor. This vision felt too real.
Me: You have?
Mary: Of course, I was curious to see who my successors were. I am pleased to know that Kilkree has its royals once more, my great grandson did somewhat abandon it for Zerania's queen.
We took a few silent sips together before Mary spoke again.
Mary: There is something that I wished to tell you before you woke up.
Me: What is it?
Mary: I sense something special within you, Ink. I will not reveal it as it is for you to find out on your own. You still have much to learn and you have a greater potential than just being an artist or a child of nobility.
  I was confused so I was going to ask her a few more questions however...
I woke up
