"It just looks like a wine glass" Clary said. "That wine glass saved your life" Jace said. "What if, what if I hadn't gotten the cup out in time that demon" Clary said.

"But you did first rule of shadow hunting when something explodes just keep walking never think twice never look away" Jace said.

"And what's the second rule" Clary asked when Izzy grabbed the cup with her whip causing Clary and Jace to look to see her and Kelsey.

"There's nothing a Shadowhunter can't do in heels" Izzy said as she and Kelsey made their way to Clary. "Alec what are you doing" Jace asked him, going to him.

"You can stare at this monitor all you want they need angel blood to get past the wards you know that" Jace said as Kelsey noticed Clary put the cup back.

"No downworlder can come into the institute" Jace said. "Not without an invite by a Shadowhunter" Izzy said.

"I'm the only special one considering I'm half downworlder" Kelsey said.

"Last I checked Valentine is a shadowhunter the cup is not safe here we have to give it back to the clave" Alec said.

"Give it back to the clave no not after everything we went through to get it" Clary said.

"My brother is right the cup is extremely important" Izzy said. "Are you agreeing with me" Alec asked. "I'm full of surprises" Izzy said.

"Kels" Clary said looking at her. "Don't look at me I'm with them" Kelsey said. "This cup is the one chance I have at getting my mom back" Clary said.

"I agree with Clary we can't give the cup to the clave not now we need it it's our only bargaining chip" Jace said.

"Look I know how powerful this cup is it has the power create new Shadowhunters, control demons, and even kill a mundane if they drink from it but I promise you I will not let that monster get his hands on it" Clary said.

"There you go you have her word" Jace said. "Fine but if I end up kidnapped or worse I'll know who to blame" Kelsey said.

"Follow me" Alec said leaving and Clary followed him. After a few moments the machine went off causing Alec to come over.

"What the" Alec said once he saw it causing Kelsey to go to him along with Jace and Alec noticing it as well. "There's something outside the perimeter" Jace said. "I told you" Alec said.

"Don't say it" Jace told him. "What's happening" Clary asked. "Looks like someone is trying to break in" Izzy said. "Could be the circle" Jace said.

"Told you so" Alec said. "Too soon" Jace said. "Whoever it is let's just go find out and hopefully get rid of them" Kelsey said leaving with Alec, Jace, and Izzy with Clary soon following them.

"Don't move drop what you're holding put your hands up" Jace said once they saw them.

"Raphael" Kelsey said once she saw him come into view and noticed he was holding Simon. "Oh my god Simon" Clary said.

"I'll go I'll tell them we didn't find anything nobody will come down here" Alec said leaving.

"I might be a vampire, but I was raised a good Catholic" Raphael said. "The vampires breached the accords killing Simon is grounds for war" Izzy said.

"The vampires were not behind this just Camille she attacked Simon on her own" Raphael said.

"And how do we know you're telling the truth" Jace asked. "I could have gotten rid of him but instead I brought him here I don't want trouble with the Shadowhunters" Raphael said.

"Well bout time you got smart" Kelsey said. "I warned the mundane to stay away but Camille gave him a taste of her own blood and like an addict he came back wanting more" Raphael said.

"The only reason Simon ever tasted Camille's blood is because of you, you kidnapped him you drug him to hotel Dumort you delivered him to Camille" Clary said.

"Clary" Kelsey said, and Clary looked at her. "I get your upset, but the blame game will not change what happened" Kelsey said.

"I never meant for this to happen" Raphael said. "Simon, Simon, please come back please" Clary said crying.

"There is a way" Raphael said and Kelsey gave him a look knowing what he was going to say.

"A way what" Jace asked. "A way to bring Simon back" Rafael said. "You can do that her, how" Clary asked Rafael.

"He's a fledging it's a state of transition your friend can be resurrected" Raphael said. "No" Jace said. "Clary no" Izzy said. "So, I could have Simon back alive and breathing" Clary asked.

"That's just it he won't return alive or breathing" Izzy said. "He'll be a vampire Clary" Kelsey said.

"And not the sexed up romantic kind the ugly bloodsucking coffin dwelling kind" Jace said.

"Thats offensive" Raphael said. "Really" Jace said. "Coffin implies wooden box we have caskets now they're made of 14 karat gold" Rafael said.

"My bad" Jace said. "Okay that's it Jace will you lay off my brother" Kelsey said surprising everyone. "Your brother" Clary asked. "Adoptive brother technically but yeah" Kelsey said.

"Why didn't you tell anyone" Izzy asked. "Right, I'm going to tell you I have a vampire brother who you all can't stand" Kelsey said.

"It's almost sunrise" Raphael said changing the subject. "Simon must be turned into a vampire tonight or staked through the heart" Raphael said. "And if I do neither" Clary asked.

"His soul will be trapped for eternity you have all sunset to decide the clock is ticking" Raphael said.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't there" Clary told Simon. "This is all my fault" Clary said. "Clery this isn't your" Jace started to say when Clary interrupted.

"No, it is if it weren't for me Simon would have never even known about the shadow world, he would never have been kidnapped by vampires he wouldn't have met Camille he would, he wouldn't be dead" Clary said.

"A fledging he's in transition" Raphael said correcting her.

"And now I am left with two, two representative choices to can't figure out which one is worse" Clary said and sighed as Kelsey looked at her sadly.

"If I uh, if I bury Simon what are the risks" Clary asked. "Clary no, absolutely not" Jace said. "Jace, I need to know" Clary said. "Clary" Kelsey said.

"Kels please I have to know" Clary told her. "If Simon is buried and he doesn't emerge he would be trapped under the earth starving for eternity" Raphael said.

"Oh my god" Clary said. "And if I stake him" Clary asked.

"He'll die a human death it's painless as far as I know" Raphael said. "Simon I'm so sorry" Clary said crying.

"If I ever get my hands on your vampire friend" Kelsey told Raphael. "I know" Raphael said interrupting her knowing what she would do.

"This is a bad idea promise me you won't tell a mundane that Simon was bitten by a vampire" Jace told Clary. "I promise" Clary said.

"You better because part of our job as Shadowhunters is making sure mumdanes don't" Kelsey said when Clary interrupted. "Don't know anything about the shadow world" Jace said.

"Don't worry I'm just gonna tell her there's an accident that um Simon's not coming back" Clary said.

"Good" Kelsey told Jace. "Now I can only tolerate so much, mandates so I'm gonna trust you and Jace have it under control I'll be outside" Kelsey said and went outside.

"Hey dad" Kelsey said over the phone. "Hey munchkin thought I check in" Magnus said over the phone.

"Oh, you know just hanging in there waiting on Clary to tell her mundane friend's family that he's dead" Kelsey said. "What" Magnus said.

"Quite a story in fact call Raf I'm sure he'd tell you all about it" Kelsey said.

"What did your brother do" Magnus asked. "Okay he didn't really do much to the mundane if anything he just kidnapped him but the rest but if you want the full story ask him love you" Kelsey said and hung up.

"Luke are you okay" Clary asked as she, Jace, and Kelsey walked into the place.

"What happened" Jace asked. "Uh you should see the other guy we were attacked by a forsaken if you can even call it that anyways it's dead it looks worse than it was" Luke said.

"Luke you're hurt" Clary said. "Uh no, already healed" Luke said. "Perks of being a werewolf or even half werewolf in my case" Kelsey said.

"Anyway, I called Alec he took the forsaken back to the institute for an autopsy" Luke said. "We've got the best forensic pathologist in New York" Jace said.

"Yeah, so I've heard" Luke said. "Clary what are you doing here" Luke asked her.

"Now that you have the cup you know you should be back at the institute protected" Luke said. "I haven't taken my eyes off her" Jace said.

"And if there's trouble, I could always turn into my wolf form or show them my little friend" Kelsey said and shown her daggers before putting them away.

"I needed to see to you" Clary told Luke. "Luke it's Simon he's um Luke he's dead" Clary said.

"Technically" Kelsey mumbled. "Clary I'm so sorry" Luke said and hugged her as she cried.

"There's more but Jace and I will give you guys a moment" Kelsey said going outside with Jace.

"The sun is setting" Raphael said. "Have you decided" Raphael asked Clary.

"Clary what are you going to do" Kelsey asked her.

Jace laid Simon on the ground. "Someone's here" Kelsey said hearing them with her werewolf hearing. They turned around and saw Camille.

"Great" Kelsey sad growling lowly. "What do you want" Clary asked Camille. "I want my property back" Camille said. "Simon is not your property" Clary said.

"If you just hand him over, I'll be on my way" Camille said. "You heard Clary you're not laying a hand on him" Jace said.

"And if you do, you'll have to get through me first who knows if you'll still be alive by the time I'm done with you" Kelsey said.

"Who's to say I won't kill you first" Camille told Kelsey and Raphael stood in front of Kelsey. "Oh, that's right the big brother the protecter" Camille said.

"Fine I tried to do this the nice way" Camille said and snapped her fingers and more vampires shown up.

"Jace" Clary said. "I'm glad you brought everyone here to witness your demise Camille killed this mundane now I have all the proof she's been breaking the accords for too long now he's the evidence we need to show the clave what Camille has been doing" Raphael said.

"Are you trying to overthrow me" Camille asked. "No, I already have" Raphael said as the vampires behind her sped to her.

"Don't listen to him Raphael doesn't know the first thing about leading you need me I've given you everything you could want all the riches all the pleasures you could desire" Camille said.

"By breaking the law which will only destroy us" Raphael said.

"We can fix this if we just get rid of the body this mundane means nothing" Camille said. "Means nothing" Clary said going to her. "Clary" Kelsey said.

"Over my dead body" Clary told Camille and hit her and walked away as vampires surrounded Camille.

"Clary it's time" Raphael told her. "Which will it be" Raphael asked holding a shovel and a wooden stake.

"Clary think about this" Kelsey said. After a moment Clary took the shovel and started digging.

"When your grandfather gave you this at your bar mitzvah you um you told me how much it meant to you it was a symbol of the day you became a man" Clary told Simon.

"Simon" Clary said crying. "Simon no matter what happens no matter what you become you will always be that man to me" Clary said.

She stood up as Raphael picked up Simon. Raphael put Simon in the hole and Clary went to bury him but couldn't. So Jace took the shovel and buried him instead.

"That mundane's a fighter he survived the vampires at the hotel DuMort he survived the werewolves at Jade Wolf he survived accounting for whatever that's worth" Jace said.

"He is a fighter isn't he" Clary said as Kelsey stayed silent watching them.

"Look I know you think emotions cloud judgment and that whole falcon story I don't think I'll ever be able to wrap my head around that but all of that contradicts the first rule of being mundane" Clary said.

"What's the first rule of being mundane" Jace asked.

"It's that love makes you stronger it was my mother's love for me that made her betray Valentine and steal the cup it's love that makes you fight harder for what you want" Clary said.

"Here we go" Kelsey said seeing the mud moving. "It's happening" Raphael said coming over. "Yeah, we see that" Kelsey said.

Simon stuck a hand, out and slowly came out of the hole. Raphael pushed Kelsey behind him in case Simon tried anything.

"Simon, Simon it's me it's Clary" Clary said. Simon went to attack Clary and Jace and Clary backed up with Jace protecting Clary.

"Once reborn you emerge hungry" Raphael said and tossed a blood bag he had to Simon.

Simon quickly took the blood bag and drowned it. "Very hungry" Raphael said as Jace and Clary got closer while Raphael tossed the other blood bag he had to Simon. "Drink up" Raphael said.

Simon took the other blood bag and drowned it. After Simon finished, he was back to normal.

"Clary" Simon said. "What's happening" Simon asked. "You um you died" Clary said. "I what" Simon said.

"What's this" Simon asked grabbing the blood bag and put it down realizing what it was. "That's blood" Simon said and felt his teeth.

"Oh my, oh my, why can't I say" Simon said when Raphael interrupted. "God" Raphael said. "It'll take time to regain the ability there's a lot you will need to learn" Raphael told Simon.

"Oh my" Simon went to say but couldn't. "Dang it" Simon said hitting the ground.

"Am I, am I a vampire" Simon asked. "Yeah" Clary said. "Carly tell me, tell me this isn't real tell me this is not really happening" Simon said.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" Clary said. "I'm repulsive" Simon said.

"No please, please don't say that okay you're still the same Simon you're the same Simon I've known my whole life to e same guy who loves sci fi and who can recite every line from, from every Nicolas Cage movie the same Simon who carried me over the Brooklyn Bridge when I lost my shoe okay listen" Clary said.

"No Clary I'm not" Simon yelled. "Yes, you are Simon you are the same Simon you are my best friend" Clary yelled.

"I'm not, I'm nothing more than a monster" Simon said and, in that moment, Kelsey knew how Simon felt as she too felt the same way once a long time ago.

"No Simon you" Clary said and Simon got up interrupting her.

"Stay away please just stay away" Simon said and ran away using his vampire speed. "Simon" Clary said but Simon was already gone.

"Raf" Kelsey said, and Raphael looked at her and she motioned for him to follow Simon, and he nodded. "I'll look after Simon you have my word" Raphael said and went to Kelsey.

"I'll see you around little sister" Raphael said, and Kelsey nodded as he kissed her cheek in a brotherly way. Raphael ran off using his vampire speed following Simon.

"What did I do" Clary asked and Jace pulled her in for a hug. "What did I do" Clary asked crying.
