"And he spoke to you" Jace asked Clary holding the necklace. "He said my name he said your mother for the cup" Clary said. "Who said that" Alec asked. "Valentine" Clary and Jace told him.

"And he's with my mother" Clary said. "And he can speak to you through the necklace" Alec asked.

"Here in the institute" Kelsey asked going to Cary with Alec. "It's a portal shard that's why your mother made sure you had it" Jace said.

"All I know is what I saw my mother' s alive she's unconscious but alive" Clary said. "Where are they" Alec asked. "I don't know" Clary said. "But you said you saw them" Alec said.

"Alec relax" Kelsey told him. "You want me to relax" Alec asked her. "Alec" Kelsey said and Alec ignored her.

"Was there any identifying characteristics equipment, weapons, photographs" Alec asked.

"I don't remember it was awful" Clary said. "Alec lighten up" Jace said. "I'm trying to get something we can use out of this" Alec said.

"Clary what did you see exactly" Alec asked. "Valentine had my mother that's what I saw" Clary said.

"Emotions are nothing but a distraction you're ruled by them we're taught to control them" Alex said. "And how is that working out for you" Clary asked.

"It is my job to protect the institute if Valentine can see in that's a door I have to shut" Alec told her.

"Oh, just give him the necklace so he can look at it so we can move in from this subject please" Kelsey said and Jace gave Alec the necklace.

"Now it's in the proper hands" Alec said. "Hey" Clary said. "Did you know he was going to do that" Clary asked Kelsey. "No but he's right" Kelsey said.

"Kels" Jace said. "Jace don't I'm with Alec on this and I'm not changing my mind and no it's not because of my feelings for him" Kelsey said following Alec with Jace and Cary.

"Alec" Clary said. "Where are you going" Clary asked.

"To put this somewhere safe where no one could be tempted to use it" Alec said. "We should use it" Jace said. "No, we shouldn't" Kelsey said.

"Alec, Kelsey, we should use it to Valentine" Jace said.

"If I were Valentine, I'd make you think that you could rescue Jocelyn and then I'd lure Clary to me and leverage her life for the cup" Alec said and traced the rune on the floor as it opened.

"I like Jace's idea we saved Simon from the vampires that way" Clary said. "And nearly died doing it" Kelsey said as she saw Alec trace a rune.

"Vampires bored decadent self-involved vampires Valentine is a real threat" Alec said and traced a rune as the safe shut. "He can't be handled by four and a half Shadowhunters" Alec said.

"Five" Clary said. "Whatever leave it there" Alec said leaving. "Kelsey are you really on his side about this" Clary asked. "Sorry Clary" Kelsey said leaving.

"Hey dad" Kelsey said on the phone walking into her room locking the door. "Hey munchkin is something bothering you" Magnus asked.

"Valentine contacted Clary through a necklace" Kelsey said.

"What Kels if Valentine can see through that necklace, and he gets to you" Magnus said. "I know, believe me I know it's my life story" Kelsey said sitting on the bed.

"Munchkin you need to tell them the clave and the institute already know you yourself asked them if you could tell them and that now includes Clary, and you especially need to tell that boy you like so much" Magnus said.

"I know I just I" Kelsey said and took a breath. "How do you tell someone your only half Shadowhunters that you're some kind of miracle or in my mother's words and everyone else's an abomination a mistake that shouldn't have been born" Kelsey asked.

"Munchkin you are far from a mistake okay they're wrong you are the greatest person I know and I'm not saying this just because I'm your dad" Magnus said. "Thanks dad" Kelsey said smiling.

"I should go talk to you soon I love you" Kelsey said. "I love you too" Magnus said and Kelsey hung up.

"There you are" Izzy said once she and Kelsey found Clary and went to her. "Are you okay" Izzy asked Clary. "I saw my mom then Kelsey and your brother" Clary said. "I told her" Kelsey said.

"And believe me there have been many times where I wanted to kill Alec" Izzy said and sat next to Clary.

"Look I know my brother can be a real pain in the butt, but he means well that necklace is very dangerous" Izzy said. "I'll take the risk on my own" Clary said.

"You're not on your own Clary you'll be putting everyone else in danger" Kelsey said. "Your part of us now" Izzy said.

"I just I wish I knew what to do all of this it's so new to me I just" Clary said and stopped. "I'll do anything to save her" Clary said. "I get it you love her" Izzy said. "More than anything" Clary said.

"What's she like your mom" Kelsey asked. "She's kind, fun, uh the kinda person you always want to be around I have friends who used to always want to hang out at our house just to hang out with her" Clary said.

"She sounds amazing" Kelsey said as they laughed.

"She sounds more like a friend than a mom" Izzy said.

"She was both she's basically sacrificed her life for me and I'm willing to do the same for her" Clary said.

"Just because you can't have that necklace doesn't mean you won't see her again walk with us tell me and Kels everything about her" Izzy said getting up as Clary got up and followed them doing exactly as she said.

"So, Alec blew right by you and did what he wanted" Clary said. "I'd be angry too" Izzy said.

"He took the only way I had to see my mother" Clary said.

"Try not to be too angry at him okay he's just trying to keep everyone safe and while I have my own reasons not wanting you to have that necklace, he's a good guy he'll warm up to you eventually" Kelsey told Clary.

"Plus, he kept asking what Valentine's room looked like" Clary said. "He was interested in Valentine's style fascinating" Izzy said.

"No, he thought I might have seen something that could help us find him" Clary said. "And did you" Kelsey asked.

"I didn't see anything there, but I think I might know another way" Clary said.

"Great" Kelsey mumbled recognizing the woman who walked in. "Isabella dressed to impress I see, and you've been playing with the family heirlooms" she said.

"Hi, I'm Clary Fray" Clary said introducing herself.

"Clary Fairchild you look just like your mother we know all about you in idris" Maryse said.

"Idris" Clary asked. "The Shadowhunter homeland" Kelsey said. "If you think the institute is well hidden wait until you see that place" Izzy said.

"How's Mac" Izzy asked. "We all miss him" Izzy said. "Little brother cute but clingy kinda Simonish loves Kels" Izzy told Clary.

"Robert's picking him up at the Mumbai institute" Maryse said. "Where's Jace" she asked. "We have a situation that has to be handled now" Maryse said.

"Kelsey or should I say abomination excuse me" Maryse said pushing past her. "Well, that's my mom" Izzy said.

"Excuse me" Kelsey said leaving quickly. "Why did she call Kelsey an abomination" Clary asked.

"I don't know she's called her that since Kelsey stepped foot in here and if it wasn't for my brother Kelsey probably wouldn't even be here, he's always had her back" Izzy said.

Kelsey was heading into her room wiping her tears when she bumped into Alec.

"Sorry Alec" Kelsey said. "What's wrong" Alec asked her worried but she didn't answer. "My mom here" Alec asked.

When she didn't answer Alec knew he had his answer.

"Come here" Alec said and hugged her. "Don't listen to her you're amazing" Alec said.

"Don't do it again" Alec told Maryse before giving her a hug. "You should be prepared whether you expect me or not" Maryse said. "I am we are" Alec said.

"We'll talk about the institute later right now we have a bigger problem the Seelies have stopped communicating with the Clave and won't explain why my guess is they're still upset we asked them to send scouts to look for Valentine but no one in their realm will talk" Maryse said.

"I have Seelie friends" Izzy said. "Yes, I know about your friends Isabella we stay separate from the downworld for good reasons the wrong move the wrong word" Maryse said.

"Do you think there is such a thing as harmless rebellion" Maryse asked.

"Who knows what offends these creatures maybe you told him them something they shouldn't know maybe you trod on one of their ridiculous customs without knowing it" Maryse said as Kelsey had to hide her eyes for a second feeling them glow.

She looked back at them once they were back to normal.

"Wait, wait I don't understand you're mating all this on Izzy for having a friend in the downworld" Jace asked.

"When someone upsets the natural order, everything falls apart" Maryse said.

"Natural order what are you saying" Clary asked. "I can help I know how to talk to Seelies" Izzy said.

"She's right she can visit with Meliom and see what he knows I could go with her if you want, I'll take Kels with me" Alec said.

"I'd rather Jace goes along this time Alec, Kelsey you stay with the Fairchild girl I want her under control she's caused enough trouble already" Maryse said.

"Maybe that's because I wasn't even a shadowhunter until a few days ago" Clary said.

"And what an exciting few days it has been" Maryse told her.

"The clave counts on us Lightwoods to maintain order here" Maryse said.

"You don't need to tell me that if the mission is important to the Clave I would prefer to be the one who goes with Isabella" Alec said.

"You're all so eager to do what you would prefer it's time to face the truth life is not about what you want to do it's about what must be done I have given you your assignments now carry them out" Maryse said.

"You and you with me now" Maryse said pointing to Izzy and Jace and left. "Charming as always" Kelsey said leaving.

"I know and you're not you proved yourself you don't need to do that anymore no matter how your related to Magnus is your dad okay that's all that counts not" Alec said.

"I know" Kelsey said interrupting him. "I'm always on your side okay" Alec said and Kelsey nodded. "Alec if Valentine finds me" Kelsey
Said when Alec interrupted.

"He won't okay he won't I promise" Alec said and Kelsey nodded. "Okay" Kelsey said.

Suddenly Alec looked into her eyes and leaned in and kissed her. Kelsey was surprised at first but eventually kissed him back.

They made out for a few minutes until Alec pulled away.

"Sorry" Alec said. "No, it's fine" Kelsey said smiling while Alec smiled back. "We should go find Clary" Alec said.

"Yeah, go ahead I'm right behind you" Kelsey said and Alec nodded and left. "What was that" Kelsey asked herself.

"For what it's worth I think your mom was too tough on you out there" Clery said. "Mothers are like that" Alec said. "Mine's not, go ahead knock me down you'll feel better" Clary said.

"Oh, Kelsey what about your mom I never asked what she was like" Clary asked Kelsey. "She hated me, but it doesn't matter she's dead" Kelsey said.

"Moving on" Alec said. "Plant your feet wide" Alec told Clary. "Why did you let your mom say those awful things about Izzy" Clary asked.

"Don't step into the strike step through it" Alec said as he began to teach her how to fight. "Izzy was out of bounds the law is hard but it's the law even I forget that sometimes" Alec said.

"So, you're just gonna let her send Jace out instead of you" Clary asked. Alec then practiced with Clary.

"If I screw up, I expect to be punished I'm supposed to be a leader" Alec said.

"You know what a leader does Alec makes decisions you need to find Valentine and stop him" Clary said.

"Well, this is boring I'm going to find some strawberries" Kelsey said leaving.

"Why'd you run out and what's the point of an invisibility rune if you don't silence your phone" Alec asked. "Seriously if you're gonna use it silence your phone" Kelsey said.

"That was childish sneaking out like that" Alec said and Clary answered her phone.

"Simon hey I know I should have called you right back I'm really sorry" Clary said. "Are you okay" she asked.

"You know that thing when you think you're catching a cold, but you never actually get sick" Simon asked. "Yeah, I totally get it" Clary said.

"Um can we talk later" Clary asked. "Things are kind of insane right now" Clary said.

"Insane how are you okay" Simon asked. "I kind of killed a demon and lost all my memories forever so" Clary said. "You killed a what okay Clary where are you" Simon asked.

"I'm at the Brooklyn academy" Clary said. "I'm on my way to" Clary said when Alec interrupted her.

"Hang up that's it we have to go right now" Alec said. "No, I'm on my way to the loft there's something there that I think could help me find my mother" Clary said.

"You're insane" Kelsey said. "Are you crazy that's way too dangerous you think nobody's watching that place" Simon said.

"I'm fine I'm with Alec and Kelsey" Clary said. "And those words just are supposed to make me feel better how" Simon asked. "Yeah, I'm coming to help" Simon said.

"No Simon you've been through enough already" Clary said.

"So have you meet me at the old shortcut you know the one" Simon said and hung up. "Perfect now your mundane friend is involved" Kelsey said.

"Mundanes look at them running around like ants let's go" Alec said. "One sec my dad is calling" Kelsey said and answered her phone.

"Hey dad" Kelsey said walking away. "Why do you always look so miserable" Clary asked. "I don't" Alec said. "You do" Clary said then recognized Alec watching Kelsey.

"Oh, I get it you're in love with Kelsey" Clary said. "Excuse me what" Alec said.

"What's the big deal she's in love with you we all saw it when that memory came out" Clary said.

"I'm not in love with Kelsey" Alec said. "Alec just say it admit it you're in love with Kelsey it's okay it's pretty clear she's in love with you too" Clary said.

"Forget it you know what you're in love with Kelsey" Alec said. "Oh, okay the middle school comeback nice" Clary said.

"Hey what's going on" Kelsey asked coming over after finally managing to get off the phone.

"Nothing" Clary told her. "Alec, we have a real problem to solve come with me" Clary said leaving. "This better be quick" Alec said and followed her with Kelsey.

"The world's been ending for a thousand years, mundane kind of get used to it" Kelsey said.

"Now we need to move" Alec said. "Yeah, my mom's loft is just across the alley" Clary said.

"Alright we have to be careful there are eyes all over this place and everybody in the shadow world's looking for you" Alec said.

"I mean I guarantee you no one's gonna find this shortcut I used to take it back in middle school to see Clary you might know the shadow world but trust me I know Brooklyn come on" Simon said and jumped over the bush.

"Let's just get this over with" Kelsey said following Clary and Alec. "Have you been doing parkour or something" Clary asked seeing Simon acting different climbing up after him.

Alec then climbed next as Kelsey was the last to climb up and Alec pulled her up. "You've gotten a lot better at this" Simon said.

"I was just gonna say the same thing about you" Clary said.

"Climbing a fire escape excites mundanes I'll never understand these people" Alec said.

"Whoa I don't remember it like this" Clary said seeing all the runes. "Their runes and wards of protection cast by a warlock" Kelsey said.

"Dot" Clary said. "Some of these have been here for years" Alec said. "The only difference is now I can actually see them" Clary said. "Yo Clary what are all these tags" Simon asked.

"You can see them you can see the runes" Kelsey asked. "Yeah, kind of hard to miss" Simon said.

"For a shadowhunter" Kelsey said. "They should be invisible to most mundanes" Alec said. "When did you get the sight" Alec asked.

"I don't know but whoever drew these should take some lessons from Clary their uh work is pretty sloppy" Simon said.

"This is from when Simon and I were engaged to be married" Clary said. "You were engaged" Alec asked. "I'm almost certain I don't wanna hear the story" Alec said.

"We were eight years old" Simon said. "That was a whole other world ago" Clary said. Kelsey then noticed how Simon looked at Clary.

Clary saw the door and tried to open it but couldn't. "There's only one flaw in your plan here Simon" Clary said.

"Here let me try" Simon said and easily opened the door getting Alec and Kelsey's attention.

"After you" Simon told Clary. "Okay" Clary said as she walked in. "Ooh after me" Simon said stopping Alec but then Kelsey tossed him on the ground. "Don't be so protective" Kelsey told him.

"Alec" Kelsey said, and Alec went in as Kelsey followed him. Simon then got up and followed Kelsey.

"Holy crap Clary who touched your loft" Simon asked. "Yeah, I can see this too" Simon said as Alec and Kelsey looked around.

"Hey, you okay" Simon asked Clary. "There's nothing left of me here" Clary said as Kelsey and Alec came back.

"Well, no, duh" Kelsey said. "Your mother was trying to erase any trace that you existed so that you couldn't be tracked she was protecting you" Alec said.

"We all seen how well that worked" Clary said. "You're alive aren't you" Alec said.

"These floorboards they found different in these two spots" Simon said getting everyone's attention. "Can't you hear it" Simon asked.

"There's something under here" Simon said. Simon. Then lifted up the floorboard. "Another score for Brooklyn" Simon said. "Mundane move" Kelsey said moving Simon.

"You're welcome" Simon said. "Kels" Alec said as Kelsey felt something.

"He's right there's something down here" Kelsey said and pulled out a box. "Is this the box you remember" Alec asked taking it from Kelsey giving it to Clary.

"Yeah" Clary said as Alec helped Kelsey up. "She used to wait till she thought I was asleep and then take it out" Clary said.

"Well let's open it" Simon said and Clary did. "I don't know what any of this is" Clary said looking at the items confused.

Then they all heard a shatter. "There's someone here" Alec said.

"Get what you need do not move till Kels and I get back we've been here too long" Alec said leaving with Kelsey.

"Stay close to me" Alec told Kelsey when they heard growling that Kelsey recognized all too well.

Alec took an arrow and got close to it when he recognizes it as a werewolf. "Werewolf" Kelsey said recognizing it. Alec and Kelsey looked around when he shot at it but missed.

"Clary" Kelsey said once she saw her and Alec and Kelsey ran trying to save them, but the car drove off.

"You call Jace I'm not telling him we lost his little girlfriend" Kelsey said.

"Where is she where's Clary" Jace asked going to Alec and Kelsey. "She's gone" Alec said. "What do you mean gone" Izzy asked.

"She and Simon got arrested when Alec and I was securing the fire escape" Kelsey said.

"I got distracted" Alec said. "The mundane was here" Jace asked. "Simon he's gone too" Izzy asked. 

"It was an unmarked car I don't know where they took her" Alec said.

"What did you do Alec" Jace asked before he left with Izzy following him. Alec and Kelsey looked at each other before following them.

"She's not showing up" Jace said after trying to track her. But he had no such luck.

"We need to parabatai track" Jace said. Jace then went to Alec as he drew a rune, on Alec's hand.

Then they both started tracking Clary. As they were tracking Clary Alec couldn't help but slightly look at Kelsey who was far away from Jace with love.

"Alec concentrate" Jace said. They then tried to track her again but had no luck. "Alec" Jace said.

"In doing it she's not showing up" Alec said. "Just like I thought she wasn't arrested" Izzy said going to Alec.

"She wasn't" Kelsey asked going over to Alec while he looked at her full of love which went unnoticed. Izzy shook her head at Kelsey. "It was your job to look after her" Jace told Alec.

"I did my best Jace" Alec said. "Then maybe your mother is right your best just isn't good enough" Jace said.

"Hey, stop it Jace stop he's your parabatai not your 24-hour babysitter for your little girlfriend he deserves your respect now give it before I shove your little stele up where the sun doesn't shine" Kelsey said.

"Are you so blinded by your feelings for Clary you've lost sight of us" Alec asked.

"Clary snuck out I went after her to protect her I did nothing you haven't done a thousand times before" Alec said.

"Yes, you did you lost her" Jace said, and Kelsey slapped Jace. "That's enough it's not his fault" Kelsey said. Alec then walked away while Kelsey shook her head at Jace following Alec.

"Whoever took Clary and Simon must be holding them over a body of water that's why our tracking rune won't work" Jace said.

"Clary left her phone in her backpack" Izzy said hearing it ring. Jace grabbed the phone and answered it putting it on speaker. "Hello" Jace said.

"Oh, I thought I'd never utter these words but thank god it's you it's me Simon" Simon said.

"Where are you where's Clary" Jace asked. "I don't know some Chinese restaurant I think this cop Alaric arrested us, but it was a total fake out him and his buddy they took us they took us to their hangout and then they told Clary that they'll kill her if they don't find the cup" Simon said.

"Just calm down alright tell us what you see" Jace said.

"Don't bother I know exactly where they are" Kelsey said and took out her daggers twirling them around.

"Follow me" Kelsey said. "Mundane do me a favor and think of anything to stall them" Kelsey said leaving and Izzy, Jace, and Alec followed her.

"Alec" Jace said seeing Clary over a man's shoulder. "Got her" Alec said.

"Put her down" Jace said as Kelsey kicked his leg and Alec caught Clary.

Jace then punched the man knocking him out. "You okay" Jace asked Clary. "I will be as soon  as we find Simon come on" Clary said leaving as they followed her.

"Clary" Simon said as he met back up with Clary, Alec, Kelsey, and Jace with Izzy. "Simon" Clary said, and the two friends hugged.

"Oh my god" Clary said. "Are you okay" Simon asked. "I was so worried" Clary said.

"I hate to break up this little reunion, but we got a bunch of werewolves trying to kill us so maybe we should get going" Jace said.

"Wait, wait the box my backpack I think i left it at the loft" Clary said. "No, we've got it I didn't screw up everything" Alec said. "Let's get out of here then" Simon said.

"Wait Simon whatever you do, do not make any fast moves" Izzy said as they all saw the werewolves. "This can't be good" Jace said.

"We're surrounded everyone stay together" Alec said. "Believe me I'm not going anywhere" Simon said.

"Everyone, get back that's the alpha leader" Jace said. Kelsey looked at Alec taking a breath before stepping in front of Izzy.

"Kelsey what are you doing step back this is not a time to play hero" Alec said. Kelsey's eyes glowed as she growled. "Where's that growling coming from" Simon asked. "I think Kelsey" Izzy said.

Kelsey then started running and jumped as she turned into a werewolf surprising everyone. "I thought she was a Shadowhunter" Clary said.

"She is" Izzy said. Kelsey then in her werewolf form fought the alpha until she was thrown.

And as she was about to go after him again another werewolf went to the alpha and fought him. "Kelsey" Alec yelled.

Kelsey then turned back into a human and rushed to Alec as he pushed her behind him.

"Aren't you a Shadowhunter" Clary asked Kelsey. "I'm half shadowhunter and half werewolf long story all I can say for the moment is I'm some kind of miracle" Kelsey said.

They then continued to watch the two werewolves' fight. "He's challenging the alpha" Alec said.

"He's helping us" Clary said. "Or cutting in line to kill us" Simon said. "The alpha's dead" Izzy said.

The other werewolf came over and turned back into human. "Oh my god Luke" Clary said.

They all then heard the werewolves howling. "What" Clary said confused as they all turned human. "What is it what's happening" Clary asked.

"When a werewolf kills the alpha leader, he becomes the new alpha your friend Luke's leader of the pack now" Jace said.

"Thats what you were going to do wasn't it" Clary asked Kelsey who stayed silent. "Why" Clary asked. "To protect you" Kelsey said.

Luke nodded at his fellow pack members as they nodded back at him. "Clary" Luke said. Clary was about to go to him when Jace stopped her. "No" Jace said.

"It's okay" Clary told him and went to Luke. "I promised your mother I'd always protect you" Luke said.

"Luke oh my god" Clary said seeing he was about to fall. Simon and Clary then went to Luke and caught him.

"Hey" Alec said going to Jace. "We need to get Clary back to the institute and stay out of downworlder business" Alec said. "Why don't you stay out of it I'm going to help Clary" Jace said.

Kelsey rolled her eyes went to Jace and slapped him. "Apparently it's slap Jace day" Kelsey said glaring at him.

"We have to report back to our mother" Alec told Jace.

"You and Isabella can do that" Jace said and was about to go to Clary when Kelsey stopped him.

"Strong or not I am part werewolf, and I am still part shadowhunter a miracle or an abomination as my mother used to call me before she died, and I don't care how mad you are over us losing your pathetic girlfriend that is no way to talk to your parabatai so get over your pathetic self" Kelsey said.

"Find me when it's time to go I'm too upset to look at him and I don't feel like getting thrown in jail or anything by ripping his face off" Kelsey told Alec and left.
