The silence left behind after Jimmy closed the door was loaded. Kay's stomach began to flutter immediately, because she and Kyle were finally alone. In a hotel room which the only other person with full access had left willingly.
"Huh," Kyle said, sounding thoughtful.
"What are you thinking?" Her voice fortunately didn't shake.
"That it's so odd for people to actually give us privacy. It's usually the other way around with them barging in and everything. Welcomed change from Joey and Kelly."
She forced a laugh even if the memory of their best friends walking in on them was still a little mortifying. "You're right. It's a welcomed change."
"Jimmy and Jessie are like the anti-Jelly."
That really go her laughing and Kyle grinned at her in that mischievous way she loved so much. Then his look turned tender and she was sure she would dissolve into a puddle.
"You must be exhausted. You should go settle in."
"Settle in?" The question was out before she could help it.
"Yeah. Unpack, wind down. Maybe take a shower?"
She nodded out of reflex. Then, when he raised his eyebrows expectantly, she realized she had to actually move. So she did, back into the bedroom part, her brain working overtime.
Why was he doing this? Was she crazy for wanting to jump him right away? They had been apart for over six months. Maybe they needed to talk, ease into things. Why didn't this bedroom have a door and just a dumb archway? What if Jimmy and Jessie returned in the most inappropriate time? Why was she even thinking about this?
Take a shower...
She should've given him the same answer she had at Tanner Ranch when he'd suggested a shower. She was really curious what his answer would be now. Would he still stare at her as if she were insane or bring her into the shower himself?
Head pounding, she opened up her suitcase. Was was she even supposed to be looking for in there? Pajamas? She didn't want to go to sleep. Her hands wrapped around the silver fabric of her prom dress. Even if she'd packed lightly, she couldn't leave it behind. It held too many precious memories. They all involved Kyle touching her. Yeah, this could work.
She stepped into the bathroom and slipped into the dress. Then she combed her hair, wishing she could pin it up again like she had at prom, but she didn't have the time or the patience because she really wanted to see his face. Pick up where they'd left off when they were so rudely interrupted by lying and psychotic adults.
When she stepped out, all ready, her heart beat so loudly, she could feel it against her ribs.
"You want to go to sleep?" she asked casually.
"Depends on what you want," he said from the other room. His voice sounded even, but slightly resigned as if he was ready to accommodate her, even if he wanted something different.
Yep, he would let her sleep if she claimed she was tired. She had other plans. Like making up for changing out of that dress in the first place. Kelly had been right. She should've kept it on until the end of prom. It would've been much easier to take off than jeans.
"I want to show you something."
"What?" He appeared in the doorway.
His jaw dropped as he took her in from head to toe. His dark blue eyes seemed to light up as the corners of his lips lifted into a smile.
"Hello, prom dress. Oh, how I've missed you."
"Really?" she said, biting up a smile.
"Oh, really. But I've missed the person inside the dress more." And he strode to her and took her in his arms.
The heat of his body, his scent, it drove her mad. His hands ran down her bare back, just like at prom. But now it wasn't to dance, but to caress her, to feel her skin. It was so obvious in the way he moved and she just wanted him to touch more, to hold her tighter.
"Maybe we should dance?" he whispered, wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Maybe you should sing."
"Maybe I should get reacquainted with the rest of the dress."
Yes, he definitely should if that meant hooking her knee and running his hand up her thigh. She circled his neck with her arms pulling herself against him. Yeah, this felt nice. More than nice. She was sure her dress would catch fire. Once he bent and kissed her shoulder, she was sure she would catch fire.
"I'm sorry I didn't get to take you out on a date," he mumbled into her skin as he kissed up her neck and on her jawline. "And now I can't."
"Didn't we agree to fuck the five dates all together?" she breathed.
"Good point." He hoisted her up.
She curled around him immediately and was more than happy when he finally kissed her lips. It was in that intense way which promised so much more and she'd missed it so much.
In a moment, her back hit the mattress and he was on top of her, still kissing her, his hand once again going up her thigh. She moved her hands from his face to his hair, running her fingers through it. She'd missed the softness so much. But there was something she missed more.
Her hands slipped down his shoulders, his back, wrapping around the hem of his t-shirt. She could feel his muscles tensing under her touch, and she loved it.
"Kay," he whispered.
Her heart jumped. God, he sounded so hot, so enthralled by her, and it made her feel confident and gorgeous.
"Yes?"
"I missed you so much."
His words brought tears to her eyes, but for once it was a bittersweet feeling. "I missed you, too."
"I love you."
The word breathed life into her. "I love you, too."
"You are gorgeous and amazing, and I..." He bit his lower lip and it only made her wish he'd bite down on her.
"You can say it, whatever it is."
He just watched her for a moment with such an intensity that it took her breath away.
"Maybe this is too sudden, but I don't care. I'm not going to delay anything after what happened to us. I want you, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that."
There wasn't. It made her heart swell. "Please, no more delaying or planning, or five dates, or whatever. Just..."
He broke into a grin. "Just what?"
There were a hundred ways to say it, but she chose the one that spoke to her most. "Love me. In every possible way."
His expression softened, and the love in his eyes made her so happy, her chest actually hurt. This was really happening.
Except he raised on his knees, pulling away from her. It was much too cold without him.
"Hey, where are you going?"
His smirk was naughtiness incarnate. "Just helping you out." And he took his t-shirt off and threw it off the bed.
Holy hell, she'd missed seeing him shirtless. She wasn't sure if she was imagining it, but he looked even more shredded, all his muscles well defined, his skin smooth. She was a second away from drooling.
"What?" he asked with a grin.
She had to shake herself to focus. "You still look photoshopped."
He took her hand and placed it on his stomach. "How about making sure it's real?"
Hell yeah, she wanted to run her hands all over him. And she saw no reason not to, especially when he was letting her explore all she wanted. It felt amazing to touch him, to be able to linger on everything. From his chest to the ridges of his abs, and then down the lines that dissappeared in his jeans.
It wasn't enough. Her hands gravitated towards his belt, stopping on the buckle. It got him to lean over her, pin her to the bed and start kissing her again. On her neck, her shoulders, the little available cleavage, pulling the straps of the dress over her shoulders.
"I love your dress," he whispered in her ear right before nibbling on her earlobe. "It will look great on the floor."
His words drew a moan out of her which restarted the kisses and tightened his hold. But he'd started a fire which could not be extinguished.
She twisted and climbed on top of him. The dress slid off her, pooling around her waist. It only had him rolling her under him again, his lips tracing the newly freed skin.
The feel of his mouth on her had heat building up inside her until she was sure she was going to explode. She didn't even bother keeping the moans in.
"What are you doing to me?" he asked, his voice low and so intimate.
Not enough and she was planning to change that. "Why am I still wearing this dress?"
That drew a grin out of him. "We're getting there. We're getting wherever you want."
It was exactly what she wanted to hear. So she was more than happy when he removed her dress, kissing every inch of free skin, when she finally managed to take his jeans off. He was even more gorgeous naked if possible. And when he told her that she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen, she believed him.
There was no room for lies between them. No room for anything else, clothes included.
The feel of his skin on hers was what she wanted for the rest of her life. Every kiss, every touch, it set her on fire, lifted her to the greatest heights until her mind was so overwhelmed it simply left the building and all that was left were feelings.
Heat, softness, his lips on her skin. The pressure, the way their bodies fit together as if they were made for each other, the way it felt so natural. So long overdue. Her need for him, to feel him, to belong to him. The pleasure. The incredible, mind blowing pleasure. By the time she finally came down from her high, her entire body was shaking.
"Holy shit," she breathed.
"Agreed," he said with a laugh, pulling her against him.
She cuddled against his chest, trying to catch her breath. She couldn't believe it finally happened. Even if they'd drawn it out, exploring each other thoroughly, it felt like the blink of an eye. She really needed to do that again to convince herself it had been real. But it had been just like in her wildest stories. Passionate, without any pain or awkwardness, and holy hell, did she want four more rounds of that.
"I can't believe I was right," she whispered.
"Right about what?" he asked into her hair.
"How amazing you are. And that you'd screw my brains out."
He chuckled. "I haven't even started screwing your brains out. The first time means a lot more than that." He rolled over, pinning her under him. "But we're getting there."
That sounded like an amazing plan. "Night's still young. Remember, it has to be five times."
"At least. I thought you were bad at counting since I screwed your brains out."
It was very hard to focus when he was so close, saying things her body desperately craved.
"That sounds like a plan. Unless we run out of condoms or something."
"Fortunately Macy thought Jessie and I were spring rabbits, so we're stacked."
Kay sucked air through her teeth. Even if it was a lie, just the thought of Kyle doing what they'd just done with someone else was agonizing. So she decided to stop right there and not think back. She was the only one he'd ever loved and that was more than enough.
They were finally together again and nothing would tear them apart. This was just the beginning. And the thought that they'd be doing this for hopefuly the rest of their lives had her grinning.
Yep, she could get used to this.
