A Quest from the King
The ceremony began with the King's men setting up some equipment. They set up a medium sized, wooden tower, with a bucket on top. Then they set up a table with an extremely large platter of meat on it. "To become an adult during this ceremony, everyone must come up to the tower, and be drenched in Dragon's blood. Then you must eat of the mythical Dragon's meat. We don't call it the Dragon Harvest for nothing." King Boric stated.
Everyone began to line up at the tower. Kaito rushed to get ahead in the line, while Rigel stayed back close to Lenna. The first man approached the tower. He stood under the bucket and Dragon Blood was spilled all over him. "Yuck! I got some in my mouth!" The man complained.
The next person walked up. It was a woman. The bucket was emptied onto her. "Eww so gross! It's all over my dress! I should not have dressed up for tonight!" The woman whined.
More and more people had their turns, and then it was now Kaito's turn. He stepped up under the bucket. The buckets contents were dumped all over him, but he didn't say a word. He just then continued on past.
"Wow! That young man was the first one to not complain about the blood! That must be a good sign." King Boric shouted.
After a while it was now Lenna's turn. She stepped up nervously under the bucket. Then blood was drenched on her. "Eww it stinks. But I can bear this." Lenna said.
Next it was time for Rigel to come up.
He walked under the bucket full of excitement, and shouted, "Yeah! Bring it on! Dump as much blood as you can on me!"
The blood was then poured onto him.
He then continued past the tower, with a big grin on his face. "Well that went well for you Rigel!" Lenna told him.
"Yeah, you took it pretty well too Lenna!" Rigel replied.
"Thanks!"
The last of the participants took their turns, and the first part of the ceremony came to it's completion.
"Now, everyone line up at the table to eat of the Dragon's meat!" King Boric exclaimed.
The first man took his first bite of the Dragon meat. Then the next person ate from it. Then the next, and the next, and the following people. Then Rigel came up to eat it. He took his bite, "Hey this doesn't taste that bad!" He said as he began eating more and more of the meat. "Hey, sir! That's enough! Leave some for everyone else." Kind Boric ordered him.
Then Lenna ate from the meat, and she thought it was good too. Next Kaito ate the Dragon meat, and he thought it was absolutely disgusting. After he ate his piece, he started gagging as he continued on.
Finally the last of the people ate the meat, and after the last person ate it, there was none left.
"Alright, now that everyone has done these two tasks, you all are now officially adults! You all must now select the class you wish to pursue. And remember to choose carefully, you can only change every 20 years." King Boric demanded.
A book and a feather pen magically appeared in front of everyone, so that they can write down what class they want to become. Kaito and Rigel immediately began writing down Warrior. Lenna started to write down White Mage. Everyone else wrote down their classes. A lot of different classes were written down. Some of the classes people wrote were, Rogue, Archer, Paladin, Cleric, Necromancer, Berserker, Summoner, Bard, Black Mage, Wizard, Warlock, and much more. "Congratulations everybody! You all will now be granted the most basic abilities of the class you desire. Im sure you all will before fine young men and women! That concludes the ceremony. Have a good night!" King Boric told everyone.
June and Wilford approached Rigel and Kaito. "We are so proud of you two!" They both told them ecstatically.
"Thanks Mom and Dad!" Rigel thanked them.
"So legally you two cannot come home with us unfortunately." Wilford said.
"What?! Really?!" Rigel asked.
"Yes, since you are now adults, you must live on your own now." June answered.
"Well that's great then. That means I can start my life as soon as possible then." Kaito said anxiously.
Wilford handed Rigel and Kaito both a small satchel of gold. "Here you go, some money for if you need it."
"Thanks Dad." Rigel and Kaito told him simultaneously.
"Well I'll see you boys sometime in the future!" Wilford told them.
"Bye my sweeties! Mommy will miss you!" June exclaimed.
After they left, Lenna's mom Rosa, came up to her.
"Come here Lenna! I'm so proud of you for becoming a fine young woman!" Rosa said to her.
"Aw mom, I couldn't have made it this far without you being there for me." Lenna told her.
"Well as you may know, you're going to have to live without me from now on. But I know you will be just fine." Rosa proclaimed.
She handed Lenna some gold as well, and told her, "Goodbye Lenna! I'll see you again soon!" And with that Rosa began leaving the Capital City.
"So what should we do next then?" Rigel asked.
"We should probably find an inn to stay the night at. Would you like to come with us Kaito?" Lenna asked.
"No. I have some plans of my own." Kaito responded, with determination in his voice. Kaito was ready to begin joining the King's Royal Guard first thing in the morning.
"Well ok if that's what you want then. Come on Lenna let's head out. See you later brother!" Rigel exclaimed.
Rigel and Lenna then began looking for an inn. As they were searching for an inn, they walked through a dark alley in the capital. Suddenly a small group of people ran past them. The man in the back of the group was holding a strange object. He then tossed the object over to Rigel as he passed by and said, "Take this and run!"
Rigel caught the object, and stood there confused, examining the item. He came to the conclusion that it was a very dangerous, magically charged explosive. Then a group of guards came by and saw Rigel and Lenna. They noticed the explosive in Rigel's hands and charged up to him.
"There they are! Those are the terrorists! Let's take them to the King!"
"Wait! It's a misunderstanding!" Rigel and Lenna were shouting, trying to clear everything up with them.
"Yeah Yeah, that's what they all say."
One of the guards replied.
The guards took them into the castle and into the King's throne room. As they entered, they heard the king discussing something with some strange man.
"What do you mean you haven't found the Amulet of Sojor yet?" King Boric asked the mysterious man.
"Well your majesty, my elite troops have not been able to even locate the whereabouts of the Amulet of Sojor."
The man replied.
"Bah! Fine! Get out of here! And dismiss your troops! None of you are worth the headache!" King Boric demanded.
"Yes your highness." The man said as he sprinted out of the castle.
"My King," one guard said, "I have brought to you the two terrorists, that were plotting to blow up the Capital. You may now decide their fate."
"Wait! We aren't the terrorists!" Rigel screamed.
"Silence you traitorous scum! Shut up while I decide your punishment." King Boric ordered, as a guard began kicking Rigel.
Boric thought to himself a bit. "Aha! That's it! I now what you must do."
"What is it your majesty?" Lenna asked.
"You will go on a Quest to retrieve for me, the Amulet of Sojor!" King Boric told them excitedly.
