Chapter 7

As soon as Aaron left, I immediately turn the water on and take the warmest bath I'd ever had. I relish the feeling of the warm water as it washes away the dirt off my skin and soothe my aching muscles.

Once I finally I got out of the white tub, I put on a nightgown, tied my cape around my neck, and finally climb into bed. Sighing in content as my muscles relax and I wrap myself in the blankets like a cocoon.

Once my head hits the soft silky pillow, I fall into a deep slumber.

"Grandmama," I cry, "Whats happening to me? What did I do?"

The wind howl around us, ruffling our hair. We were in a field of weeds. The moon shines in the night sky that was clear of stars. It was just a great nothing. A void.

I was on my knees too weak and scare to stand up. Tears stream down my face. Blood stains my trembling hands that clenches her skirt. I could taste metallic on the tip of my tongue.

She stands frozen like a statue, her back facing me as she stares at the ground.

"Grandmama!" I scream as strong arms wraps around me. A mix of claws and human hands. Each grabbing my arms, they haul me up to my feet and they start dragging me away from her.

"Please! Don't let them take me!" I beg, kicking up dust. Trying to pull away. "Im not a monster! Im not! Please!"

Grandmama stands still before she slowly turn around to look at me. I shriek in horror when I saw the claw marks and blood dripping down her body. Her stomach was slice open and I could see her bones, hidden behind the intestines. Her face is pale and her eyes were a ghostly white and lifeless.

"You did this," she says in a raspy voice. Whatever teeth she had left were yellow and rotten. She points with a writher hand at me. "You are a monster."

"No!" I exclaim as I burst forward. I clench onto white sheets in my close fists. Sweat trickle down my forehead. My black hair covers my face in clumbs and I breathe heavy.

My eyes dashes back and forth. Taking in the unfamiliar surroundings, it wasn't the forest. Moonlight peeks through close curtains. The windows were open and cool air blew into the dark room.

The place was crawling with humans. I can smell them. They're waiting to sink their pitchforks into me. Skin me alive and use my fur as a rug and use my teeth to add to their necklaces to display.

Panic and fear grows, invading my mind with thoughts of my death coming soon. My chest feel like it was getting tighter and tighter and I couldn't breathe. I kick the covers off of me. It was like they were trying to suffocate the life me. I stumble out of the bed and onto the cold marble floor.

I hold my head in my hands and slam my eyes shut. I feel dizzy and sick. My heart pounds in my chest and my breathing is ragged. I can't breathe.

Suddenly the door bursts open. Letting a luminous glow enter the dark room. A man's silhouette stands at the door. It seems to look for me before it sees me on the floor and races forward. Ready to attack while Im weak.

I shrink in defeat. Im ready to accept my death. I know I deserve to die. I will not fight. Even if I do I have no strength to protect myself.

"Rieka?" The man asks as he approach, concern etch in his voice. He sounds familiar. "Rieka, whats the matter? Rieka? Breathe, just breathe." He says in a calm voice as he sits next to me on the floor.

I listen to his voice. It sounds so calm and soothing. It holds no anger like I imagine.

"Its okay, its okay," he says as he places a hand on my shoulder. Reassuringly, not threatening. "Just breathe. In and out. Thats it. Its okay. You're safe. You're safe."

I do what he says. In and out. In and out. Breathe. You're safe.

I release a trembling breath. My heart starts to slow down, but my head continues pounding, like someone was smashing my brain against a brick wall.  My hands tremble as they graze the cold floor, and my body feels numb.

"Good, keep it up," he encourages and I accept the fact that he was not going to hurt me. "Do you want to tell me what happened?"

It was like my brain had clear up like the skies do after a storm has past. And like the sun appearing, my memories and thoughts resurface. And I remember where I am and who was with me.

I lick my dry lips before I spoke in a croak voice. "Just a nightmare."

I grimace when the image of Grandmama cover in blood and her insides showing. I can still feel the claws and nails that digs into my skin as they drag me away.

"It was just a nightmare," says Aaron with sympathy. "They won't hurt you."

I clench my hands into fists and swallow. Suddenly feeling embarrass for being seen this way. Scared over some silly nightmare. Its childish.

"Im sorry if I disturbed anyone." I say apologetically.

He chuckles softly, "Its fine. You didn't cause any disturbance."

"What time is it?"

"Its morning, the sun is rising."

I sigh in relief. Thankful that I wouldn't have to fall back asleep, not that I would anyway. "Shall we get going or do you still need time to prepare?"

He takes my arm and pulls me up. I groan as I feel the world tilt. He immediately helps me to the bed. "We can leave later if you want. You don't look well enough to travel. Perhaps visit the doctor instead,  maybe its your wounds that are making you sick."

I wave him off, "My wounds have already healed. One of the perks for being a werewolf is that you heal quick. I'll be fine. And we need to get going. The longer I stay here the quicker they'll find me. Your family and your people will be at risk if they come here."

Determination crosses his handsome face and he nods in understanding. "Alright, lets do this. Lets go break this curse."
