Chapter 3
"Hmm," the old man hums as he takes care of my leg. He wears a pair of large round glasses, they make his blue eyes larger than usual.
I try thinking of other things besides my fear of docters. However my attention was brought back to Doctor Silvestre as he wraps a white bandage around my leg alittle too tight, making me grimace.
My good leg was bouncing up and down anxiously against the wooden floor as I gaze at a counter of medical supplies attach to the wall next to me on my right side. On my left was a large white divider to separate us from the room where Prince Aaron was waiting.
In front of me was another room with a cot and divider. It was empty with the bed neatly made, but I couldn't ignore the faded blood stain that was still there.
"How is she doctor?" The Prince asks.
In a croaky voice the doctor says, "She is very good actually. Nothing life threatening, thankfully. With some rest and lots of water she should heal just fine." He turns his gaze to me, "You'll have a few scars though."
"As long as I don't die or get rabies, Im fine with a couple of scars." I say with a small laugh. Sweat drips down my neck and my foot starts tapping on the wooden floor rabidly.
He smiles warmly, noticing my discomfort, "Aye, you're right. Go ahead and change back into your clothes and you can leave." He says before he gets up from his chair and leaves me alone.
I touch my side lightly to feel the scratchy bandage wrap around my waist. I ignore the urge to itch as I slip back into my dress. I tied my red cloak around my neck before I slide the divider open.
The Prince hands the doctor his payment of gold coins. Tuck under his arm was a hardcover book with golden lettering spelling, How to Master Traps!
As the doctor moves to the side to count his payment, I approach the prince. "Thank you, your highness, for the helping hand and medical help." I curtsy awkwardly, "I shall be on my way now. Thank you doctor."
I turn away to hide my grimace, "Have a nice day," I say alittle too high pitch. I open the door hastily and exit the small building. I slam my eyes shut when the sunlight blinds me.
Ugh, I hate myself sometimes.
"Hey wait up!" I hear him chuckle behind me, making me flush with embarrassment. "You don't have to call me that. We're already past the formalities." He says as he stands next to me.
"Either way I doubt we'll meet again, your highness so might as well keep it formal." I say as I look at my surroundings.
We were in a town, castle town I believe is what he called it when we rushed in here on his stallion, Bentley who was not happy to be near me.
There were shops that line the streets. People walk back and forth as they rush to do their everyday thing.
I sniff the air, something heavenly was being baked nearby. Making my mouth water.
"You mean you're heading back into the forest? Why? Its dangerous in there." He replies with surprise.
The shouts of men broke my thoughts, my heart pounding in my chest as I rapidly look side to side to find them before they find me.
"No, you hit me! I had the right away!" I hear one man yell.
I follow the source of the sound around a corner. My eyes immediately land on two men glaring down at each other. Two wagons were clashed together behind them. Supplies litter the cobblestone street.
"And out here is not safe," I remark feeling a sense of relief wash over me like a waterfall. Knowing it wasn't men hunting for my blood.
Turning back around I start to walk down the street, trying to find my way back to the forest. I have to get out of here, this place reeks of human and everyday life that I can no longer have.
"Why do you want to go back in there? What if those things return?" He whispers low into my ear, "Have you seen what they done to you or are you that ignorant? They could kill you, Rieka."
"Oh I don't just see what they done to me, I feel it. Believe me when I say that wasn't the first time I met them and it won't be the last. No matter where I am." I say with a shakey voice that didn't hide the fear I was feeling in the pit of my stomach.
No matter where I am they will find me.
"Why are they after you? Did you do something to them or something?" He asks curiously.
I sink to the cobblestone street. Feeling the need to sit down. I held my side, it was starting to sting. "They're after me because they want me to join their pack. There's more of them than you think. They're trying to get every werewolf they can find to join them so they can take over the world. Make humans their slaves-"
"Wait, wait, wait!" He says shaking his hands wildly as he sits down next to me, leaving a bit of space between us. "You're telling me there are a legion of creatures planning to dominate the world? Why haven't I heard of this?"
"Because they are preparing quietly. Gathering enough members to overthrow leaders." I answer. "Their leader is Alpha Axel or as humans like to call him the Big Bad Wolf."
"The Big Bad Wolf? From the three pigs story? I thought it was just a bed time story." He says is disbelief.
"Sadly no, its not just a bedtime story. It was real. Well besides the part of the three pigs building homes for themselves, they were just regular pigs living in a farm.
When he tried to steal one, the farmer had set up a trap that included bricks being dump on him. He survived and he's hungry for power." I say gravely.
Prince Aaron looks down at the street; processing everything I just told him. I glance at his book that was sitting next to him and idea pops into my head.
"Do you have a library here?" I ask.
Still thinking over what I said, he nods slowly, "Yes, in the castle. Why?"
"Im looking for any information on how I can get rid of this curse." I explain, "I need to find a way to break this curse fast before the next full moon."
"What happens when the full moon comes?"
I breathe in a shakey breath and clench my hands in my red cloak, "I loose control over the wolf and someone is killed." I say gravely.
