Genin Days (5): Kakashi vs Zabuza

Sarah watched alongside her teammates as Kakashi went up against Zabuza. Sword against kunai, multiple jutsus being used, and Kakashi trying to track him down with his Sharingan.

Sharingan, the dojutsu used by members of the Uchiha clan. Sarah was aware her teammate Sasuke possessed it, but why did her sensei also have it? Was he secretly an Uchiha? Did he obtain the eye by illegal means? So many questions were flooding through her head right now.

What Sarah did know though is that Zabuza is targeting their client Tazuna. Sarah also knew her idiot teammates would hop into battle the first chance they got so it was up to her to protect Tazuna.

Pulling out a small scroll from her pouch, Sarah summoned a few things she would use for a simple trap. It would be risky though since she couldn't exactly pinpoint Zabuza's location (due to the mist occluding her vision), but she knew he had to be in the general area.

Sarah stuck a tag on Tazuna's chest, "Tap on it if he comes close to you."

     Tazuna nodded.

Sasuke watched his female teammate cautiously. He didn't know what she was planning on doing. Was she setting up a trap of some sort?

Naruto was engaged in the fight, watching Kakashi and Zabuza exchange blows. He was completely unaware of his teammates plan.

Zabuza suddenly appeared behind Tazuna, prepared to cut him in half. Tazuna pressed the seal on his chest, a burst of light admitting from it. The light blinded everyone around him; Sarah smirked as she saw Kakashi stabbing Zabuza in the back with a kunai.

The water clone of Zabuza evaporated, revealing the ninja to be behind Kakashi preparing to strike.

Sarah made a few mock hand signs, "Garden of Eden!"

Vines started surrounding Kakashi, protecting him as the remaining ones started to attack Zabuza. Sarah channeled a good bit of her mana into her attack, hoping that the trap would be good enough to throw Zabuza off while Kakashi came up with a plan.

.
.
.

She can't use chakra like all the other ninjas; Sarah knew that when she tried to do a basic jutsu her first day in the academy. Chakra and Mana were similar but different in many ways; both required energy but had different hand signs and techniques to it. If she were to try and make a clone, her mana wouldn't allow her to do such a thing. On the other hand if she were to channel her mana into her seals then it could lead to a potentially devastating attack.

What would've been her weakness in this world turned out to be one of her biggest strengths. She was unpredictable, a wildcard in nature. It's what always gives her an edge in battle.

Sarah refused to be a damsel in distress. She's determined to become the strongest ninja this world has ever seen.

If it means potentially giving up her humanity in the process, then that's a sacrifice she's willing to make.

.
.
.

"Sensei, behind you!" Naruto cried out as he watched Kakashi get cut in half by Zabuzas sword.

Zabuza's eyes widened as he realized that Kakashi had copied his jutsu. Kakashi appeared behind Zabuza, holding a kunai up to his neck. Sarah was lucky enough she had worn the man out a bit with her attack, but she knew that he wasn't called an S-rank ninja for nothing.

    "Don't move, it's over."

Zabuza scoffed, "There's no way you can defeat me with your monkey like imitations. That was impressive though, especially that attack the purple-haired girl pulled."

     Sarah's eyes widened, "Oh shit!"

"You had your clone distract me while you were hiding in the mist and watched, nice plan," Zabuza's clone evaporated, the real one coming up from behind and holding a kunai to Kakashi's throat, "I'm also not that easy."

"That one's a fake too!" Naruto exclaimed as Kakashi turned around and dodged Zabuza's attack.

The two continued to exchange blows. There was nothing more Sarah could do right now to help her sensei. She needed to wait for the right time to attack.

Suddenly Kakashi got trapped in some sort of water prison. Zabuza held the dome up with one arm while he used the other to form hand signs.

"Mizu Bushin no Jutsu."

Water clones of Zabuza came out of the ground. Sarah knew she had to come up with a plan and fast.

"Hehe, wearing those headbands and acting like ninjas.. A real ninja is someone who has survived numerous brushes with death. Only when you're good enough to be listed in my notebook can you start calling yourself ninjas," Zabuza said as he vanished at the blink of an eye before coming up and slamming his foot into Naruto's face, "You're just brats."

"Take Tazuna-san and run! You three have no chance in beating him! As long as he's keeping me trapped in this prison he can't move!" Kakashi shouted, "The water clones can't go far from his real body so just run!"

Sarah knew the arm Zabuza was holding the prison has to be a weak point. If she were to somehow distract him then she could free Kakashi. The main problem was going to be the water clones.

"If only I had some sort of distraction," Sarah thought before watching Naruto run directly at Zabuza, "Actually that might just work!"

Naruto got kicked back again towards Sasuke and Sarah, getting up off the ground and brushing himself off.

"Sasuke, Naruto, listen; I have a plan."

Sasuke chuckled, "Heh, a plan you say? I'm in."

Naruto grinned, "Let's get wild."

"A lot of arrogance coming from you. Do you really stand a chance against me?" Zabuza asked.

"What are you doing? Run away! The fight was over the moment I got caught! Our duty is to protect Tazuna-san! Did you forget that?" Kakashi exclaimed.

"Well I planted this seed myself. I'm not going to say that I desire to live so much that I'd stop you. I'm sorry guys, fight as much as you want," Tazuna said in a depressing tone.

That was all Sarah needed to hear as she opened up her scroll, "You two take Zabuza, I'll protect the drunkard!"

Sarah watched as her teammates engaged with Zabuza in battle. She stayed behind and quickly sat up another trap. She wasn't going to do any more cheap tricks, now it was time for her to get serious.

Sarah saw a clone come up towards her with a sword in his hand. Smirking, Sarah clapped two of her hands together.

"You're not the only one with a trick up their sleeve."

Suddenly the clone was pierced with ice spikes coming from all directions. Zabuza's eyes widened.

"I know right, pretty cool trick," Sarah said as she pulled the cord away, "Made from my own mana. Bet you didn't see that coming you dickwad."

The clone bursted as Sarah watched her teammates bust Kakashi out of the water prison. Teamwork really was effective. Who knew the three of them could work so well together.

"Great plan my cute little Genins. You three really have grown up," Kakashi praised.

"Heh..I merely got distracted and accidentally released the jutsu," Zabuza said in a cocky tone.

"No, you were forced to release it," Kakashi retorted, "I'll tell you one thing: I don't fall for the same jutsu twice."

The two immediately went back to trading blows with each other. Sarah watched the fight in awe, aspiring to be as powerful and fearless as her sensei.

Suddenly the water exploded around the duo. Zabuza had numerous kunai poking out from his body. Kakashi was behind him holding a kunai to Zabuza's throat.

"How?" Zabuza gasped, "Can you see the future?"

"Yeah," Kakashi responded, "You're going to die."

Before Kakashi could do anything senbon started flying directly at them, striking Zabuza in the neck.

"Heh, you're right. He's dead," a mysterious man said as he appeared in the tree top.

Kakashi knelt down and felt Zabuza's carotid artery, "You're right, he's dead."

"Thank you very much. I've been searching for the opportunity to kill Zabuza for a long time," the masked man said.

Sarah's eye twitched, "This is just too much of a coincidence. Are these idiots really falling for this guys act?"

"That mask...you're a hunter nin from the hidden mist." Kakashi said.

"Yes. My duty is to hunt down missing nin. I'm a member of the hidden mists' hunter nin team," the masked man responded.

"He's definitely lying," Sarah thought to herself, "He's nothing but a liar like Nemuri whenever they get their hands on some dango. Eugh...the taste of those wretched things..."

Thinking back to when she had last spoken to the ancient demon, Sarah realized that a couple of years have passed since they last made an appearance. They've stopped communicating after...the incident. It's odd, but Sarah wasn't going to dwell on that fact now. She was in the middle of battle for fucks sake!

"I'm sure you can figure things out on your own."

"That asshole," Sarah gritted her teeth.

"What the hell? Who are you!" Naruto shouted as he pointed up at the masked man.

"Don't worry Naruto, he's not an enemy," Kakashi reassured him.

Sarah called bullshit.

"I'm not asking that! That Zabuza...that Zabuza was killed! A guy that strong was killed by a kid! By a kid not much different from me! How can I understand that?" Naruto exclaimed.

Sarah rolled her eyes. In this world it's killed or be killed. The strong preys on the weak and vulnerable. How could he not understand that?

"In this world there exists kids younger than you yet stronger than me," Kakashi said as he patted Naruto on the head.

"Your battle is now over. I must dispose of the body now since it's full of many secrets. Goodbye!" The masked man said as he hopped down the tree and disappeared with Zabuza's body.

Sarah grunted, "Fake ass bitch."

"Alright, let's take Tazuna-san home now," Kakashi said as he covered up his eye.

"Thanks guys! Feel free to come over and stay at my house for as long as you want!" Tazuna said.

Sarah watched as Kakashi fell down to the ground. Naruto was freaking out, meanwhile Sasuke and Tazuna were just trying to process what had just happened.

"Must I do everything around here?" Sarah groaned as she picked her senseis body up and carried him over her shoulder, "Let's move it guys before I run out of energy!"

"Hai!"

Sarah was thankful Kakashi didn't sustain much damage from his fight with Zabuza. Just a few minor scrapes and bruises, pretty simple to heal. Naruto's nose on the other hand got broken. The blonde was not very happy when she had to reset it.

"Sarah-chaan, why are you so rough!"

"Well I'm not the idiot who decided to run into battle head first. You should've thought that plan of yours out!" Sarah exclaimed.

"But I diiid!" Naruto pouted.

Sarah rolled her eyes, "Bullshit. I'm laying down and hibernating for the next few hours. Don't get into any trouble while I'm asleep."

"Alright," Naruto said as he walked off to pester Sasuke, "Oh temeeee!"

    - Genin Days (5): Kakashi vs Zabuza -

Sarah was busy watching her teammates come to a realization that Zabuza was alive. She already figured out the guy was a fake. Everything about the whole situation was just off-putting.

"I'm surrounded by idiots..."

Eventually Kakashi dragged them all out into the woods for some training. He explained how chakra worked and the training they would be undergoing to learn how to balance it. Unfortunately for Sarah, she lacked chakra. She would have to figure out a way to complete the exercises without giving that away.

"Hmm...mana essentially works like chakra. So maybe if I were to focus it all in one area then just maybe I could do this..."

"TREE CLIMBING?!?" Naruto exclaimed, dragging Sarah out of her thought process.

"Yeah," Kakashi responded.

Sasuke deadpanned, "Great..now I'm going to be smelling like nature for a week."

"Well..just listen until the end. This isn't normal tree climbing; you're going to be climbing the tree without using your hands," Kakashi demonstrated the exercise to the group, "You guys understand now? Gather your chakra into your feet and climb up a tree. This is something you can do once you use chakra well."

"How the hell is that going to make us stronger? We're going up against two highly skilled ninjas and you're making us practice fucking tree walking instead of actual combat skills?" Sarah exclaimed.

"Yeah, what Sarah-chan said!" Naruto chimed in.

Sasuke couldn't help but agree with them.

"Here's the main part, so listen closely: the purpose of this training is to teach you chakra control and to bring out the proper amount to the proper area. As I said earlier, this is the most important aspect when using jutsu. This can be difficult even for a skilled ninja. The amount of chakra needed to climb a tree is small but it must be exact. It is said that the bottom of the foot is the most difficult place to gather chakra. So basically if you learn control then you should be able to master any jutsu, theoretically that is," Kakashi explained, "The second thing-"

Sarah quickly walked up the tree and sat down on the tree branch beside Kakashi, "You were saying?"

Kakashi, Naruto, and Sasuke looked at her in shock.

"What? I'm a medic. I've done mastered control years ago," Sarah said as she looked at Kakashi, "Now what were you about to say?"

Kakashi sighed, "I really am dealing with the second coming of Tsunade here... Kami help me now."

    - Genin Days (5): Kakashi vs Zabuza -

Watching a bunch of old men working on a bridge was not what Sarah intended on doing this morning. Kakashi assigned her to this job while he worked on teaching her two dunderhead teammates.

"I knew showing off was gonna be a bad idea."

Kakashi clearly favorited Naruto and Sasuke over her. They were more impressionable, easier to teach. He never even bothered to try and train her all this time, instead opting for her to go and read up on different theories or volunteer at the hospital to improve her healing.

At this rate she was going to be the weakest out on her team. What use was she going to be in battle if she couldn't even train to protect her teammates?

"You sure seem frustrated," Tazuna said as he walked up to Sarah, "What's up?"

"My dunderhead teacher seems to have a blatant favoritism problem," Sarah responded as she casually lifted a giant wooden pole up off the ground, "I guess I'm only part of Team Seven to be the damsel in distress that the men have to rescue instead of being an actual member of the team. It sucks but I guess that's just how my luck is."

Looking back, Sarah learnt more under Nemuri's guidance than she ever did Kakashi's. Why exactly was that?

"That does suck," Tazuna responded back before getting distracted by one of the other bridge builders.

Sarah yawned as she listened to the two talk. She wasn't particularly interested in this bridge being built, quite frankly she was only in it because Naruto wanted this C-Ranked mission. Call her selfish but she would much rather be back in her apartment in Konoha right now over this depressing place.

Walking through the village was no different. The place was so run down and dysfunctional Sarah couldn't see straight. There were homeless people and pickpockets right around the corner.

For some reason Sarah felt bad.

"It's been like this ever since Gato came. All the adults have lost hope. That's why we need the bridge, a symbol of courage we need for the people to loose their fear and regain desire to stand up for themselves," Tazuna explained, "If the bridge gets completed then the city will return back to the time where everyone was happy. People will return to how they used to be."

So that was the real purpose behind this mission? It all made sense to Sarah now.

"Damn, I really must've gotten accustomed to life in the village that I've blinded myself to the reality of this world. Nothings going to change unless someone does something about it.."

Sarah tightened her fists, "And I'm going to be the one that does it."

    - Genin Days (5): Kakashi vs Zabuza -

Breaking into the headquarters were Gato and his goons were staying at wasn't difficult for Sarah to do. Tying her hair up and wearing all black, Sarah withdrew a kunai from her bag and began quietly slaughtering everyone that was currently residing there. Nobody could hear or see her coming; she was silent, deadly.

When she made her way up to where Gato was supposedly staying at she was greeted with a senbon pointed at her neck. Sarah looked back and noticed the supposed hunter nin was right behind her.

"What do you think you're doing?" The boy asked her.

"I'm just merely taking care of a problem," Sarah responded before swinging the kunai back at the boy.

The boy ducked and threw three senbon at Sarah. Sarah pulled out another kunai and blocked the attack, sliding back onto the floor.

"That's funny, I'm doing the same thing as well," The boy responded.

"I know you work for Zabuza," Sarah spoke, "And I know he's still here recovering from his battle with my sensei."

"What makes you think that?" The boy asked her.

Sarah smirked, "Just a hunch."

"And what are you going to do if your hunch was correct?" The boy asked her.

"What I'm about to do with everyone else here," Sarah said as she pulled out a few explosive tags from her pouch, "Kill them all."

Sarah scattered the tags around the building and began deactivating them. The boy dodged the explosions and began to engage in combat with Sarah. Senbon and Kunai. Hand to hand. Both of them were almost evenly matched in skill.

The boy was much faster than Sarah, but what she lacked in speed she made up for in strength. Zabuza watched the two battle from in the shadows, watching Sarah break a hole in the wall with her fist and engaging with his partner in combat outside the now badly destroyed facility. This was much more interesting to him than the paycheck Gato promised him.

"Hehe, wearing those headbands and acting like ninjas.. A real ninja is someone who has survived numerous brushes with death. Only when you're good enough to be listed in my notebook can you start calling yourself ninjas."

This girl was no ordinary Genin. She was a complete monster in her own right, one who has been holding back for a long time. With the right guidance she could be even more of a formidable opponent than her teacher.

"Haku, stop."

The boy stopped engaging in battle, hopping back into a nearby tree. Sarah looked over and noticed Zabuza looking at them from within the burning building.

"Hey, girl. What is your name?"

"Why should I give you my name?" Sarah asked.

"Just askin' out of curiosity. You've peaked my interest," Zabuza responded as he hopped into a tree with Sarah, "I've never seen a Genin with your skill set before."

"Why does that surprise you?" Sarah cocked her head, "Are you afraid I might be strong enough to take you and your little sidekick down?"

"Girl you don't stand a chance against either me and Haku. I'm sure you're aware of that factor yourself," Zabuza responded as he grabbed onto the hilt of his sword.

"You're weaker than you were when you fought my sensei. Your wounds aren't fully healed. Anyone who knew that would easily use that to their advantage," Sarah pointed out as she tightened her grip on her kunai, "I'm aware I can't take you both down by myself at this moment, but that won't be a problem soon once I get stronger."

"Careful; your pride will end up being your downfall," Zabuza warned her.

"Perhaps you should take your own advice," Sarah smirked as she pulled out two seals from her bag. She pressed the two together, admitting a puff of smoke large enough to cover the general area.

Using that as a distraction, Sarah fled into the nearby woods. She knew Zabuza and Haku (so that was the fakers name) wouldn't dare follow her back to the cabin. They were going to wait until tomorrow to ambush them at the bridge.

"Hopefully the flames would be enough to wipe the rest of Gatos men out. If not then I'll kill the rest of them tomorrow."

In this world it was killed or be killed. The strong triumphs over the weak. She refused to be the weakest link in her team full of powerhouses.

After all, the weakest ones are always left behind for dead.
