Hope tried everything to forget him but she knew it was almost impossible if every morning they were riding to work together. It was a few times where he had brought her a small cup of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. Even Camila and the rest of her coworkers were wondering who was the one who had finally got the attention of Hope I Don't Need A Man Howell.
"Someone is in love."
"Camila, its none of your damn business."
"Oh, shut it, William. You're just jealous that it's not you or any other man in this building. I completely see why she ended up with someone, not from this office."
The nights he could not pick her up from work, Lyall made it up with a single bar of chocolate or a small dinner at his place. Just to make up the few minutes they did not spend together. Every day that passed seemed harder and harder for Hope to not fall for the man, no matter how hard she had tried to stop herself. A few months have passed since their first encounter and neither Hope or Lyall could spend much time without each other. Arriving straight from work, Hope would get comfortable in front of the television and began to call Lyall, hoping that he was out of work or that he was also waiting for her to call him. Their conversations lasted all night long during the weekends and whenever it was a work-free day for the both them, they would spend almost all day talking on the phone.
"Is it really 3 am?" Lyall chuckled from the other line.
"I guess it really is." Hope grinned and let out a yawn. "Go to sleep, you do have work tomorrow."
"I'm not tired." Lyall laughed and Hope knew he was shaking his head. "Goodnight Lupin."
"Goodnight, Howell."

"So, you fall in love with a woman you saved from a Boggart?" Devin stirred the small spoon in his mug.
"She is... what do muggles call it? Wife material."
"When do I get to meet this woman, who has made my best friend act like a love-sick teenager instead of a man?" Lyall punched Devin on the arm. "Very mature, Lupin." Lyall sat on his chair and looked at his watch. His eyes widen and he immediately grabs his coat. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to pick up my girl from her job." Devin rolled his eyes as he stood up. "What?"
"Don't forget that you need to put that report in. You will have to oblivate her in the end. We can't risk her knowing." Lyall shook his head as he put on his coat.
"We're not MACUSA, Devin." And with that Lyall had apparated from his office and into the parking lot in a muggle's café before getting into his car and staying there for a few minutes. His report was long past due, and he knew that he had to mention that there was muggle at the scene of the boggart and would have to bring Hope in. The boggart was nothing to be afraid of once it was gone, and deep down he felt that Hope had stayed because he saved her life. Not knowing what to really do, Lyall turned his car and drove down the street to meet up with her. When he turned the street, Hope was very well waiting for him. Lyall couldn't help but smile as the woman walked towards his car with a smile that made his heart skip a risky beat. As she opened the door, the scent of her perfume filled his nose, giving him the image of a garden of roses and daisies. Just the two of them and not a care in the world.
"You okay?" Was the first thing she asked before giving him a grin.
"Of course, ready?" Hope nodded and the ride to her home was an uncomfortable silence. The music played very softly from the stereo and Hope silently sang with the words she knew. "Hope?" She looked at him and sighed as they arrived at her front door. Without saying another word, Lyall got out of the car and turned to open the door for her.
"Thanks, like always."
"Hope." He grabbed her hand, not wanting her to disappear just like he knew she would most likely do. "I need to tell you something." Hope tilted her head to the side, confused on what he had to say to her. Lyall knew that telling her that he never really saved her life but had fallen for her unexpectedly would be the hardest thing he had to do in his entire life.
"Lyall?"
"I... I just wanted to say... that..." Hope let go of his hand and put them in the pocket of her coat. "You remember when we met, there was something called."
"A boggart, yes." Lyall nodded.
"Well, you see. You were never really in grave danger."
"Even though it seemed like it was going to attack me?" Hope added, raising a brow.
"Precisely. Boggarts take shape or form of what one fears the most, and I was there that night, looking for that boggart. It's my job."
"Your job is to find..."
"Non-Human Spirituous Apparitions."
"Never heard of that before." Lyall nodded, knowing all too well that she had never heard of that. He took a deep breath and took out his wand.
"I completely understand you haven't, you're technically not from my world. But although I am very different from you this does not diminish my feelings for you."
"So what are you exactly?"
"Well, I'm a wizard." Lyall looked straight into her eyes, waiting for any lash that she could unleash. It was a trait that he picked up from her immediately. Hope Howell was the woman to show you the unexpected, and her outburst was very unexpected.
"Why are you shaking, Lupin? I'm not going anywhere or am I going to say anything."
"Excuse me?" Hope let out a laugh before wrapping her arms around his neck. "Hope?"
"See, usually I would like to say that I have a weird liking for the not ordinary material. But I think this time, Mister Lupin. It found me and I am more than one hundred that I'm going to keep this discovery for myself." Lyall let out a laugh before wrapping his arms around her waist and bringing his lips right onto hers.
