I: Go down fighting
Perseus Jackson
Location: Greece
Earthy green eyes stared into my own, swimming with killing intent. I refuse to let her win. A foggy dome of mist surrounded us, curtesy of Gaea. I know my friends stand on the other side, unable to help. I am alone, the fate of the world rests on my shoulders.
"Oh Perseus, look at you all alone" Gaea taunted
"You will never succeed sea spawn, all your precious friends out there, they will die just like the others you have killed before. The young daughter of Hades, The son of Hermes, The lover spawns of Aphrodite and Hephaestus...shall I go on" An evil smirk cracked across her face.
Bile rose up my throat as the guilt spread through me, they were my fault. I wasn't fast enough and the guilts been eating away at me every single day.
"Face it Perseus, your a murderer" she sneered while absentmindedly picking at her nails, as if she didn't have a care in the world.
I did murder them, it was my fault, I left them to that fate.
I shook my head, they sacrificed themselves for a better world. And I'll be damned if I let that go to waste.
"I may not have been fast enough to save them but that is no excuse to let their sacrifice become worthless" With that I struck.
In a flash a slick metal staff appeared in her hands, blocking my blow to her knee cap, both of the ends dripping with poison.
Note to self avoid that.
Riptide shook at the force of her next blow to my head, making my arms numb for a moment. To busy worrying about my arms, it wasn't until the last second that I noticed the boulder about to squash me. With enough common sense to throw myself to the side I narrowly avoided it.
I forced myself up and I was met with a wirl-wind of blows, I took the defensive merely fighting to keep myself alive at this point, needed to find an opening and fast.
Getting a feel for her fighting style I watched her strikes, they were flawless, strong and fluid, making me fatigue quickly, but I forced my muscles to keep swinging my sword, they screamed in agony at every strike and every block
After constant dodging, blocking and striking I wasn't getting anywhere.
But then I saw it, her left side. The swings on her left side were slightly slower, if only for a second, maybe from an old injury or something, this was what I need. The opening I've been looking for.
I looked up, using the little time I have whilst I parried her strong blow to my stomach, Noticing the snag on her dress, the green material having been nicked in battle at some point.
I know what to. But if this doesn't work...
I took the opening, striking at her foot, causing a cry of pain to escape her mouth. In her moment of distraction, I took the opportunity. Focusing on the water molecules in the air and my body I felt them combine and with the destination of the snag on her dress I flung my molecules through the others surrounding in the air. And for a second I felt the whole world stop as I was one with the water, I felt light, elated, free. The feeling was a drug, I felt myself giving into the pull, my body and mind wanting to get lost in the feeling of ecstasy. I grounded myself I still have a job to do. Your going down queen dirt face.
instantly I appeared half a second later, swinging my arm out painfully to catch the snag of her dress, My shoulder screamed in pain as it was dislocated from the weight of my own body, leaving me to hang uselessly from the Primordials dress dreading the huge fall that would await me should I let go.
Honestly I'm getting sick of gigantic powerful beings, like just be smaller for once, is that too hard to ask?
Pushing myself to keep going I reached out with my other arm pushing myself up further, white hot pain ran through my shoulder and I groaned. Her hand came to swat me like a mosquito, to avoid it I allowed myself to drop a few feet, gripping onto her dress at a new part for dear life.
I groaned at the pain in my shoulder, beginning to feel light headed. This was not what I planned.
"You insolent brat, I will destroy you!" she screeched her voice like hundreds of people screaming at once.
This is my last chance, there's no redo, no back button. This is it.
With renewed vigour I pushed myself to scale her dress, while she swatted at me trying to shake me.
My shoulder spasmed in agony, but I ignored it focusing on the goal in front of me.
Her giant hand came down again in another attempt to squash me. And in a leap of faith I once again flung myself through the water molecules in the air. Appearing on her shoulder.
Her head whipped to the side, a sickening crack following. Eh gross.
Her vibrant green eyes met my sea green orbs, reflecting the forest and its beauty, but it was shrouded by a dark haze, making it seem sinister. I could see the hunger in them, the anger shining brightly at the front. but hidden behind her eyes reflected pain, pain at what she was doing what she was inflicting on others.
This wasn't her. She wasn't in her right mind. Someone's forcing her to do this.
"This isn't you" I whispered to her.
She looked pained and her attacks halted, the dark veil lifting from her eyes for a brief moment.
Her eyes seemed to be begging me, begging me to give her relief.
"Please...Perseus" she croaked, and unspoken plea.
I'm a second the veil was back and she raised her staff to strike me in a final killing blow.
Using the last of my strength, my body screaming in agony as white hot pain ran through it. I pushed my legs to jump of her shoulder muscles working in tandem as I raised riptide to strike her in her heart on my descent.
Time seemed to slow, and memories of my life flashed before my eyes.
Annabeths smiling face as we pulled away from kissing underwater, my mothers warm embrace that smelt of blue cookies, Bianca thinking of Nico even in the most dangerous of situations, Pranking with the Stolls, Mount St Helens, Calypso's island, holding the weight of the sky, the death of Zoë and her constellation, The seven on the argo.... and holding my wise girl as she read to me on the beach.
Excruciating pain shot through my abdomen, as Gaea brought her staff down. And the ear piercing screech that followed stung my ears as I pushed riptide hilt deep into her heart. The dome around us exploded it's fine mist dispersing into the open, and feeling weightlessness beneath me I watched as her body sunk back into the earth, it swallowing actions welcoming her. But what made me truly smile was the relief that graced her features, the veil nowhere in sight as she was free of the pain.
I didn't even register I was falling, the wind rushing past my body echoing in my ears, the feeling of weightlessness, no I didn't notice until I felt the hard impact of my body smashing onto the ground, cracking and disfigured.
Annabeth chase
The whole battle field was silent after the dome exploded and Gaea sunk easily back into the earth, only to be interrupted by the thump of a body hitting the ground.
Percy...
A scream sounded, ripping out of my own throat. I ran to him.
Blood was everywhere, his body was disfigured, bones obviously broken in the fall. His shoulder looked mangled, all in the wrong place, obviously dislocated, but to such a pained extent.
But the staff sticking out of his abdomen was sickening, lifting slightly with every laboured breath he took, a disgusting squelching noise escaping.
His eyes were rolling back a haze of pain blocking them from the outside world, that familiar haze I saw all too much throughout our time in....
I couldn't stop the sobs escaping now.
"Wise...girl " he wheezed, as sweat gathered on his brow at the effort.
"You can't leave me" I was shaking now, my body shuddering like an earthquake.
His eyelids fluttered, heavy.
I fiddled with my shirt ripping a piece of it off trying to stop the bleeding. Not that it could have possibly helped.
"Its okay, your gonna be okay seaweed brain, hang on just let me-"
His hand covered mine and he gave me a knowing look. His eyes, solemn. He knew it was over for him.
"Please don't go...please don't leave me, I don't know what to-" I pleaded and prayed to every god and goddess I could think of as I rested my head on his chest.
Apollo fell to his knees on the opposite side of his body. Eyes as wide as dinner plates. He placed his hands over Percy's chest glowing as they tried to heal the severe damage inflicted upon him.
"It..Will b-be...okay....Just, promise me...you'll..m-move..o-on." he gurgled
I nodded although it was a promise I knew I couldn't keep. My fingers threaded through his slick hair as his features slowly began to relax.
Apollo looked up, shaking his head In utter disbelief and shock, sweat dripping down his face having tried his hardest. He fell back on his feet putting his head in his hands. There was nothing he could do now.
"I-I..can't...I'm so s-sorry" he murmured.
I gave the god a pained smile. Looking back down to Percy, tears spilling over my cheeks at an uncontrollable rate now.
"I..L-Love..you."he breathed as I watched the light leave his eyes and his features slacken.
My throat felt like it was closing in, I can't breathe. I'm waiting, waiting for him to get up and tell a stupid joke, ask why everyones looking at him.
But in my heart I know, its not going to happen. And it doesn't. He's gone and theres nothing I could do about it.
Hot tears run freely down my face, over my cheeks and down my chin, dripping onto his lifeless corpse.
A scream rips out my throat, a scream for him.
I feel arms encircle me as I'm brought into the comforting arms of my mother. I look over her shoulder to see the remaining seven, watching on in horror. Pipers face is buried in Jasons chest as he holds her, while he watches on with a blank face and silent tears cascading down his cheeks.
Hazels on her knees, her jeans soaking up blood from the grass, hands over her face, while frank stands behind her, a hand on her shoulder. Leo stands next to him, staring with disbelief at the bloody corpse that remains of his greatest role model.
The Olympians stand gathered behind them. Tears also gathered in their eyes, they cared, they actually cared.
I watch as Poseidon walked through the crowd to his son, his eyes tortured and dull. Him and Percy were close, so oddly close for a demigod parent and son. he cared deeply for his only demigod son, Percy was his pride and joy.
He dropped to his knees, leaning over his sons body and sobbed freely into his hands. And Apollo scooted away, stunned like many of the others here by the sea god actions.
Then it rained.
Third person
Annabeth's sobs echoed throughout the argo that night.
The remaining five sat in the dining room waiting for Festus to signal their arrival at camp.
Red, puffy eyes seemed to be common on the ship as each member mourned for their leader that kept them all sane, the glue that kept their team together and his dopey ways that made them all laugh.
But not all was over just yet, they still had another war to stop.
That was a really hard scene to write...
