Chapter 2

"Oh-ho-oh!" Sonia cried and cried. She had just found out that her husband, Frank, had died on a trip to visit another royal family. She was truly devastated! One of the workers tried to calm her down, holding her in her arms and rubbing circles into her back.

"Shh-shh. It'll be fine." She whispered into her ear, trying to convince her. After quite a while of Sonia sobbing, she went to the washroom to fix herself up.

Meanwhile, Eddie was in his room, taking his medications. He was sure that he didn't need to take most of the pills that he had, but he would listen to his mother.

After taking all of his pills, he went over to the window, looking over Derry. He saw many of the local people. Vendors, milkmen, maids, farmers, thieves- WAIT WHAT!? He saw a boy who looked around his age, had messy black hair, coke bottle glasses which made eyes look like sucking flying saucers, the ugliest Hawaiian shirt he's ever seen, a monkey latching onto his shoulder, and two loaves of bread in his hands, looking squashed by the pressure put onto them.

He was sprinting and running as fast as he could. Eddie watched intently as he ran through many obstacles until he couldn't see him anymore. Eddie knew he should've informed someone, but the farmers looked helpless and the boy just made Eddie laugh hard.

The same worker who had been calming Sonia down a few moments ago knocked onto Eddie's door. Eddie got up and opened the door.

"Queen Sonia would like to speak to Prince Eddie in the throne room." She said politely.

Eddie nodded and went over to greet his mother. Queen Sonia was sitting on her throne with puffy red eyes, tears threatening to spill.

"Yes, mother?"

Sonia's bottom lip trembled as she explained the situation.

"Eddie, as may know, your father went to visit some people- and - well, he-" She burst into tears again, sniffling as she tried to speak.

Eddie stood there awkwardly while fiddling with his hands, waiting for her to finish what she was going to say.

Finally, she sputtered out the rest.

"You're father has p-passe-d." Eddie froze. Hand dropping to his sides immediately.

"H-how?" He finally managed to say after moments.

They spent the rest of that day with Sonia explaining and having unexpected breakdowns.

From what Eddie understood, his father was on his way home to the palace but they stopped for a water break. They stopped the middle of a tiny village with many people walking here and there. It was very crowded. He pulled out his flask and took a sip.

With a thud he fell to the floor, dead.

At least that's what the coachmen said.

Eddie felt kind of empty now. After his mother finished explaining what happened with his father, she informed the workers that she wanted flyers out so that she can find a nice young woman to marry Eddie.

Eddie collapsed onto his bed, fast asleep.
