Pussy

------------------------------------------------------
"In my personal experience, I have found the pussy to be one of the strongest things I have ever come across in my life. "Don't be a pussy?" Have you ever come across a pussy? You know the vagina can start revolutions and end wars?"
Trevor Noah

I know I broke a pattern here, but I just love this quote so much!

Jules

I head towards the exit with Metisha, only for her to break away from me and return to her seat.

Determined to get her out of the pub whichever way I can, I match to where she is seated.

"Stand up. You've had enough," I command in a steely voice.

To my shock, she bursts into tears.

Maybe my voice was too harsh.

Or she's just trying to emotionally blackmail you into letting her have more beer, a voice says in my head.

"Humph! Such a pussy!" the annoying man with the tangled beard suddenly hisses out, eyeing Metisha like she's a piece of shit.

I don't know which shocked me more: the words that just came out of his mouth, or the look he's giving my friend.

I start to move closer to him but Metisha is already in front of him, stooping a little so that they are eye to eye.

"You do realize your ass came out of a pussy, right? And if it hadn't been for a pussy, your ass wouldn't have been here, just filling up space. I'm sure right now, your mom is wishing she hadn't given birth to an ungrateful asshole who thinks so low of the vagina that he sees it as a way of insulting the gender that has it!"

I see anger in her eyes even as she finishes giving the rude man the showdown he deserves.

I look at her with pride as I instinctively drag her away from the shocked man before she decides to throw a punch.

Even when drunk, my girl's still fire!

"Um..okay. I think it's time to go," I whisper to her because once again, Metisha has the attention of the whole pub as they all stare at her, mouth agape, shock written all over their faces.

We were almost out of the pub when I hear people clapping. I turn back to see that everyone except the rude, still-shocked jerk has stood up, admiration on some of the men's faces and gratitude on the women's. I acknowledge the clap with a smile before stepping out with Metisha.

As we exit the pub, we almost bump into Vincent who was making his way in.

"I was just about to come check on you guys.”

"We’re fine, oppa,” (brother) I say teasingly to which he gives a short laugh.

"Are you fine ma’am?” he asks Metisha.

"I wonder for how long you would continue to embarrass me,” Metisha tells Vincent, drawing a confused look from him.

"How do you mean, ma’am?”

"That!" She jabs her Jezebel fingers right in front of Vincent's nose. "That right there is what I mean. How many times have I told you not to refer to me as ‘ma’am' like some old woman?”

"Oh.” Vincent nervously scratches the back of his neck. “I’m so sorry, ma…” Vincent’s eyes go wide as he realizes what he was just about to do again.

“You were just about to do it again, weren’t you, silly boy?”

Now starting to look very uncomfortable, Vincent shifts on his legs. I don’t blame him though, Metisha’s got that effect on people.

"Let’s go home,” I announce to end Vincent’s torture.

"Yes ma’am.” When Metisha frowns, Vincent's hands shoot into the air and I laugh at how dramatic it looks. “I was talking to Miss Jules.”

"Ugh. Miss Jules?" she gives me an amused look. "You still let him call you that?”

"I used to tell him not to but he simply wouldn’t listen,” I explain to her as we head to where my car is parked with Vincent ahead of us. "So, I’ve given up.”

“Well. I will never give up, even if fit takes forever.”

"You don’t need to wait till forever. He’s already making amends. What I just don't understand is why he chose to listen to you, who has only mentioned it a few times, and not to me who has mentioned it like a hundred times!”

“Get your copy of “How to get people to listen to you.” by Metisha Thompson,” she says with a smirk.

I shove her head into the car as soon as Vincent opens the door.

"Get in the car! You annoying drunken rabbit.”

"Vincent, I think I just pressed the wrong button,” she says in a high-pitched sing-song voice and I resist the urge to shove her out of the car and into the streets. Finding her way home all by herself with no dime on her should be enough punishment for all these teasings.

“Yo. You’re not getting in?”

“Of course, I’m getting in.”

She suddenly gasps.

“Wait, where’s my car?”

I roll my eyes at her before stretching forth my hand. "Give me your car key.”

“Why?”

“Z. Just gimme it?”

"Well, I don’t wanna.” She grumbles, folding her hands on her chest like a grumpy little kid.

"The driver is here,”

"Oh. Well, you shoulda said so earlier,” she says and, in the same grumpy manner as before, hands me her car key.

"Yeah, whatever.” I hand the key to the young man who is to follow us with Metisha’s car.

Metisha leans on my shoulder as soon as I get seated beside her.
We both fall silent as the car gets moving. After a while, I hear Metisha sigh longingly.

"So what was it that you wanted to tell me the other time?” I ask but receive silence in return.

Another sigh and I look down at her only to discover that she had fallen asleep.

I hear her mutter something and bring my ear closer to her mouth.

"Father...Brother..love.”

Unable to make sense of her words, I place her hand on my lap to make her more comfortable.

A loud yawn passes through my lips and I find myself slowly drifting into oblivion.
