Later that day, school was out and Shane was sitting outside as he was waiting for someone who is actually a close friend of his. Her dad is one of the teachers, she she's usually out late.

"Come on, where is she?" Shane asked himself, feeling a little nervous. "Everyone is leaving, you should be done by now."

"Ugh, seriously? You're still here?" A familiar voice scoffed. "Why don't you just leave already? Nobody wants you here."

"Angel? What do you want now?" Shane asked as he rolled his eyes, not wanting to deal with this again. "Can't you leave me alone for 2 seconds?"

"No of course not." Angel said with an evil smirk. "You want to feel so special, so I'm making you feel special by bullying you."

"I thought I wasn't worth your time." Shane said in an unamused tone. "Just leave me alone like everyone else does."

Angel then forced Shane to stand up as she got up in his face. "Listen to me you rat! I'm only doing this so you'll shut up about the whole 'nobody cares about me,' thing." She said in anger. "So why don't you do us all a favor and get lost already!"

Angel then pushed Shane back down and laughed before hearing a voice call her out. "Leave him alone, Demon the Hell spawn!"

Angel looked up in shock while Shane turned around and they were met with a mutant, humanoid cockroach girl with yellow eyes, brown hair tied in 2 ponytails, and was wearing a white lab coat, brown pants, and . Her name is Kelly Cockroach or KC for short.

"KC?! What are you doing here?" Shane asked as he stood up and dusted himself off.

"What do you think I'm doing?" KC asked, confused. "We always meet up here after school and I just so happen to notice this pussy cat bothering you."

"Pussy cat?! You better watch your tongue, insect!" Angel threatened. "Or I'll crush you like the disgusting bug you are!"

"Ooh, ouch such an insult." KC said sarcastically with a sly smile on her face. "Let me know when you come up with something creative to call me, you sack of poorly packaged horse shit!"

Angel gasped in shock and disbelief when she heard that as all the other students stopped what they were doing to look in their direction. "How dare you? Do you know who I am?"

"No, nor do I care. But do you know who *I* am?" KC asked with a smirk on her face. "I'm the captain of the school's dance team so I'm pretty respected here."

"Ha! Please, that is the nerdiest thing I've ever heard." Angel scoffed. "And that's saying something."

"My dad is also the science teacher/dance coach here plus, he's known as a hero in California." KC pointed out. "Oh, and did I mention he's a mad scientist? He could turn you into a cockroach too."

"Your dad is Dr. Cockroach? Oh I never would've guessed." Angel said sarcastically. "You think I care? I'm passing his class with a solid B+, that's all that I care about regarding him."

"You won't be when he finds out how your treating his best student." KC said confidently.

"You wouldn't dare!" Angel said in a threatening tone.

"Oh, but I would." KC smirked. "And so would my dad."

Angel was quite for a moment as she didn't know what to do. So, she just scoffed and walked away.

"Thanks, KC." Shane smiled. "I really needed that."

"You never have a good day, do you?" KC asked, rolling her eyes. "You can't let those jerks get the best of you."

"I know, but I can't help it." Shane explained. "Everyone says I'm useless and a nobody, and I feel like they're right."

"Well they're wrong, you're an amazing person." KC said with an honest smile. "And if they can't see that, then they're blind."

"Thanks, KC. But I don't think so." Shane sighed. "Maybe everyone is right, I'm a useless nobody who'll never amount to anything."

"Please, do you know how many times people told my dad that he was crazy?" KC asked with a scoff. "Yet he was actually a genius! He was able to create a machine to turn a human to a cockroach."

"By accident, it wasn't supposed to work out like that." Said a male, humanoid cockroach, with yellow eyes, and was wearing a lab coat, plaid pants, and black shoes. His name is Dr. Cockroach P.H.D. "It was supposed to give humans the cockroach's ability to survive just about anything. But this was just a side effect."

"Just a side effect?" KC asked with a raised eyebrow. "Okay, whatever, but it was one hell of one! Now I can survive a nuclear explosion!"

"But it costed me 50+ years in a secret prison." Dr. Cockroach explained. "But that's not the point, you guys ready to go?"

"Yes please." Shane said as they all started walking home. The walk was kind of long, but it was nice to see all the people both human and mutant alike. "Wow, I can't believe how far this city has come to excepting mutants."

"I know, right?! Much better than California." KC said honestly. "They still call us monsters."

"I mean, they're not wrong." Dr. Cockroach said. "We kind of are monsters."

"I know, but the way they say it, sounds mean." KC said. "And they mean it that way too."

"I don't think you guys are monsters." Shane smiled. "You guys are like a family to me. You've been so nice since I came here."

"I mean, yeah, us "freaks" need to stick together." KC said before suddenly getting an idea. "Ooh! Ooh! Why don't you stay with us tonight?!"

"Wait, really? That would be great!." Shane said with a huge smile on his face. "Is that okay with you, Doc?"

"I don't see why not." Dr. Cockroach smiled.

"Yay! Let's hurry up then!" KC exclaimed as she grabbed Shane's arm and started to run to their apartment.

What they didn't see was that someone was watching and following the hedgehog this whole time. "I found him, sir. I'm going in."
