Chapter 8
**Sang**
The week runs by faster than expected with work and band practice, and Friday is here before I know it. I spend most of the day curled up under Ryan in the living room, watching t.v. with Jaylen and the twins. Everyone in the house felt the tension between Riss and Karen this week. It's gotten to the point where Karen's even started to look for an apartment so that she can try and fix their friendship.
Obviously, we all lost our bet, but we were all more concerned with why they weren't in the honeymoon phase like Ryan and I were. These days you couldn't see one of us without the other. I mean, this wasn't much different than how we usually were, but usually when we were hugged up there wasn't kissing involved.
We all pile up in the van and head out an hour before show time. Marissa sits up front with with Jaelyn at the wheel, and the rest of is in the back. The drive is mostly quiet, just filled with the radio playing old country songs at Marissa's request.
We pull up to the club thirty minutes before showtime and just hang out in the back, trying to diffuse the tension that was left from the car. Karen decided to stay at the bar instead of coming to the back with us, giving us the chance to question Riss about what happened. She lays out across one of the couches and throws her arms over her eyes. The rest of us look at each other awkwardly before taking random seats around the room.
"Sooo," Zerric drawls. "You and Karen?"
"Smooth Z," I chuckle. "That's so not how you ask one of your best friends what's happening in their relationship."
"Not a relationship," Marissa mumbles.
"Zerric's...candor aside," I start. "What happened with you two?"
Riss huffs, "Bottom line, she doesn't feel the same way I do. She just got out of a relationship, I get it, but it wasn't like I asking her to jump into bed with me! I wasn't even asking her for a relationship, I didn't even ask anything!"
"Riss, love," Jaylen tries to calm her down. "What exactly happened?"
"We were just...talking, and, and joking around and I said something that I probably shouldn't have about me having to leave her if I were a superhero, and she just, she froze! She just froze before getting up off the couch and asking if I wanted something from the kitchen. It;s not like I was asking for some type of commitment, we were joking around! It just came out! And now, I don't know how to talk to her."
Wow. Just...wow.
Before any of us can say anything, there's a knock on the door before Karen's head pops in.
"Um, I don't mean to interrupt or anything, but Sang? The guys are here."
"What?" I ask in confusion. "Why would they be here? Again, after what happened last week?"
"Well if I were them, I wouldn't be able to stay away from you either." Ryan pulls me in closer to him, dropping a kiss on the top of my head.
"They obviously came here for a show," Zerric smirks, that mischievous twinkle shining bright in his eyes. "Let's give them one."

After Axel told us that Sang's team performs at that club every Friday night, we decided to take him up on his suggestion and go see what this "new Sang" is all about. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they are in front of others. The Sang that we knew was incapable of lying, froze up in front of others, and did everything she could to not be put in the spotlight. This new Sang not only puts herself out there, she stands front and center and seems to love every second of it.
Walking into the club, we're greeted by the hostess who takes a minute to find a booth large enough for the nine of us. Once we're seated, we order a round of drinks and ask the waitress when the band will be performing. She tells us that they'll be on in about a half hour.
A few minutes later, I spot Sang's friend Karen come out of a back hallway and take a seat at the bar. I point this out of Sean, who gives me a nod before going over to speak to her. This attracts the attention of the others and we all watch as they exchange a few words before he comes back over to the table.
"Well?" Nathan asks, once Sean resumes his seat.
"She knows we're here," Sean responds. "Karen said that Sang told her to tell us to enjoy the show."
"Why do I get a bad feeling about that?" Luke murmurs.
The rest of the boys nod their agreement before we sit back and try to relax.
We make light conversation until the DJ stops playing and announces that the group is about to take the stage. We all sit at attention and watch as each of the members take their positions. All except Sang.
She walks out from behind the curtains once the music starts to play, and I find myself short of breath. I watch with rapt attention as she struts across the stage in a pair of black ripped jeans that look painted on, a pair of short black boots with a wedged heel, and a red blouse that hangs off of one shoulder. Her lips are painted a blood red, and her hair is done in big curls, bouncing with every step she takes. Her bright green eyes are covered in a smokey eye with black liner, drawing me in. I'm barely paying attention to the lead singer as he starts to sing to her as she dances across the stage.
The club isn't the best place to find a lover, so the bar is where I go
Me and my friends at the table doing shots, drinking fast and then we talk slow
Come over and start up a conversation with just me, and trust me I'll give it a chance now
Take my hand, stop, put Van the Man on the jukebox, and then we'll start to dance
Soon, the music changes slightly and Sang picks up the microphone that I barely realize she's had in her hand the whole time. I'm blown away as her lilting voice drifts over me in time to the music.
I know it breaks your heart, moved to the city in a broke down car
And, four years no calls, and now you're looking pretty in a hotel bar
And I can't stop, no I can't stop
Her and the lead, Bryan, I think his name was, go back and forth with each change of the music, before their songs merge together in a beautiful synchronicity that captivates the audience.
I'm in love with the shape of you (So baby pull me closer)
We push and pull like a magnet do (in the backseat of your Rover)
Although my heart is falling too (Bite that tattoo on your shoulder)
I'm I'm love with your body (We ain't ever getting older)
*Both* And last night you were in my room, we ain't ever getting older
And now my bed sheets smell like you, so we ain't ever getting older
Everyday discovering something brand new, I'm in love with the shape of you
I'm doing all I can not to rise from my seat at take her on the stage. My own thoughts shock me only slightly, as we have changed, much in the way that Sang has. Perhaps the Toma team was right about us liking this new Sang. The only question is, will she like the new us?
**Ryan**
After out added bonus song for the Blackbourne team, the rest of the set goes as rehearsed.
I saw them as soon as we took the stage. They were in one of the larger booths, right or center and closer towards the stage. The all looked gobsmacked as soon as Sang took the stage. Each of their eyes tracking her movements as she danced around me like she always does. I tried not to pay them too much attention, but that's a little hard when some of them had to be physically restrained by their teammates during some of her more risque moves. I'd say that she did that just to get a rise out of them, but I'd be lying. She did nothing more sexual than she normally did, and since it's Valentine's Day, her moves were more seductive and sensual, than sexual.
I'll admit that early on I didn't think I could measure up to the famous Blackbourne team, but overtime I got over it. After having her back in my life, I no longer felt inferior to them, even if she did still have feeling for them, because her heart is just that big. I knew that eventually she could love me in the same way that she loved them, and just as fiercely because that's just who she is.
I know you're probably wondering what I think about them being back. Truthfully, they're a non factor. I'm not cocky or anything. I know that she still cares for them, but I also know that I'm not going anywhere. I've waited too long to have her be mine, and if they think that they can just sweep in and steal her from me, they better think again. Sang told me once that she called North, her North Star because he promised to be a constant in her life. Well, needless to say, he failed at that. And where they failed, I picked up the slack.
So where they're concerned, they've got two options. Either back off, or make some room. Because I'm her constant now, and I'm not leaving her.
**Hii, so I'm back! Yay lol. Thank you all for sticking with me, this story will now be updates every Tuesday instead of Thursdays. Every story deserves their own day lol. Anywho, in other news, I came across an story who's chapters are book covers! How awesome is that!? The author does all her own covers and will even do one for you if you're feeling stuck for inspiration. And there is absolutely no charge so you should definitely check her out. Her SN is @MeMyselfAndTheWriter and the story is Writers Diner. It's a really cool concept where the covers and chapters are laid out like diner menus. So you should really check that.
