THE DEATH OF THE LADY OF SHALLOT
This poem is based on Tennyson's work 'Lady of Shallot'. For more details you could read that first. Its a beautiful prom and will give you all an overall idea about the poem. The poem lacks emotions because the emotions are well described by Tennyson and I do not want to alter it and damage it's beauty. Tennyson's poem ends when Lady Shallot dies and in order to get the exact esense you should read the orginal poem. My actual part in this work is when she gets into heaven.
*********
She was locked in a castle alone
Alone she did live there.
She will be cursed if she looks
Deep down Camelot, the river.
She was a pure soul
Who had no knowledge of the outside world.
The mirror was her only friend
And weaving, the only thing she could do.
Her life was going well until that day.
She saw him, Sir Lancelot
For whom she had fallen for.
She wanted to have a closer look
And she looked through the window
And she was cursed.
She stepped out of the castle
Went for him in a boat
And finally met death before she could find a safe place.
She lost her love and her life,
She had gained nothing but a tragic end.
She went to heaven and God asked
'What did you my child, do on earth?'
He asked her the reason why he should grant her heaven.
For that she said, she had lived a hellish life on earth
And now it's the only chance she has
To have a closer look on her love.
God granted her heaven
And she saw the world she once wished to see.
She saw Sir Lancelot, her prince charming
She saw that castle, saw the village
And she was now uncertain.
She was not sure about the feeling that she must have now.
She was doubtful, she was confused.
She was sad as she never had a chance to live with her love.
She was happy because she was safe from all the evil.
The world outside the castle was full of evil people.
She saw poor suffering and starving children crying.
She saw parents trying hard to find food for their children.
Now she knew that she was not trapped in the castle.
But fate wanted her to be safe.
Safe from all the evil temptations.
Fate wanted her to be pure
And not corrupted.
Her soul was supposed to be pure.
But she lost that purity in her
When she fell for the beauty of him.
She fell into the trap of this world.
She took the bait and she paid.
That temptation cost her, her life
And now, she here in heaven she is,
Seeing what she must see now.
Now she wish to be back at the castle,
That protected her from every evil.
But she knew that there is no way back.
