In which Rey is a princess with a crush on the guard sworn to protect her, which is Ben.

Even as princess of her kingdom and heir to the throne, Rey still had lots of problems. Like talking to the cute guard her father assigned to protect her. Rey was currently talking with her good friend and lady of the court about what she should do in her predicament.

"Rose, help me! I freeze up and get shy whenever I see Ben! What should I do?" Rey was anxiously pacing her room while Lady Rose sat calmly listening on Rey's bed.

"My lady, I have an idea. But you'd have to put yourself out on the line. Can you do that?" Rose asked.

"Maybe? I can certainly try!" Rey dramatically plopped down beside Lady Rose, who attempted not to giggle. It didn't work, and soon the two girls were laughing together.

"Well, here's the plan," Rose started explaining her idea, and Rey's eyes slowly got bigger.

"I-I think you need to taste this for me," Rey said, shoving a piece of delicate, exquisite cake in Ben's direction.

He blinked. "Um, I'm sorry your highness, what did you say?"

Rey laughed nervously, hoping it wasn't that evident. "What, you'd rather the princess you're sworn to protect be poisoned?"

Of course he wouldn't. Rose had known that. Ben hesitantly took a mouthful, and carefully chewed. Rey could tell he was trying not to grab the rest of the cake, too.

"Oh my gosh," he murmured, then caught himself. "I, uh, I think it's fine."

"Oh, well then you should try a sip of the wine then, too. And some of the cheese. I'm a little paranoid about food right now, ever since hearing the prince of Ondero was poisoned and died," Rey hoped she wasn't rambling. But to her delight, Ben only chuckled.

"Come along. You must try the chocolates and the raspberries. And also the soup for tonight's meal," Rey started down the hall, and Ben trailed after.

It took Ben a little too long to realize his princess had sneakily set him up on a date. By then, he'd realized he'd fallen in love with the clever little princess and her love for "poisoned" food.
