Chapter Fifteen: Protecting Kinn

Liam's Pov

After helping Porsche out of the mermaid costume he changed back into his tracksuit.

We went back inside and met up with Pete and Pravat.

One thing I've noticed about Pete and Pravat is that they're similar in a few ways.

Their personalities are similar and not to mention they're both bodyguards for Tankhun.

Well, Pravat is a regular bodyguard as he's not really assigned to anyone, but he does tend to be around Tankhun a little more.

The four of us were currently walking together.

Porsche and I stood in the middle between our new friends.

"I have to say I'm now truly impressed with you, Liam" Pravat grinned.

"Agreed. Mr. Tankhun isn't the type of person to let someone, especially a bodyguard, explain their reason. Somehow, you managed to do just that" Pete added.

"What can I say? It's a gift" I shrugged, grinning.

Porsche grinned and nodded in agreement.

Pete and Pravat shared a look and merely laughed while shaking their heads.

"Either way, I now believe that your boss is more psychotic" Porsche scoffed.

When he said that, I turned around to glare at him and smacked his arm.

Tankhun isn't psychotic.

He's unique in his own special way and that's why I like him the most out of everyone.

Anyone would be lucky to have him by their side or as their friend.

Pete and Pravat looked around before looking at us again, leaning their heads a little closer.

"Hey. Hear us out" Pete whispered.

"What?" I asked, pretending to be confused.

Pete and Pravat glanced around the room before gesturing us to lean our heads closer, which we did.

"When Mr. Tankhun was little, he was kidnapped. He was traumatized. That's why he's a little absurd" Pete explained.

I always wonder what happened when he was kidnapped.

But, it was definitely horrible and traumatizing, as Pete said, and that left him scared.

He might be dramatic and might be a little absurd, but that's only because he was traumatized at such a young age.

He never got help, never saw a therapist to help him overcome the trauma he experienced.

And he's never really left the compound because he doesn't want to go through what he did in the past.

"I don't think that's little" Porsche chuckled slightly.

"It's not just Mr. Tankhun. The whole family is absurd" Pravat whisper yelled.

Pete nodded in agreement.

Honestly, they speak the truth, this entire family is absurd in lots of ways.

They are the mafia, after all.

"Why are you guys whispering?" Porsche asked, confused.

"Just be cautious. Words get around quickly in this house" Pravat whispered.

That's because the damn bodyguards love to gossip.

"I believe you now that they're all weird. You and you are weird too" Porsche grinned.

Pete chuckled and rolled his eyes while Pravat glared at him in annoyance.

Porsche went to walk away but I grabbed his arm and pulled him back.

"Hey. But for Mr. Kinn, he's the least weird. That's why Mr. Korn let Mr. Kinn succeed him" Pete explained.

"Yeah. Or else, the whole family would be doomed" Pravat finished.

Why does that scare me a little?

Honestly, the family will be doomed, only after when Korn's secrets are revealed.

And I tend to make that happen. Whatever it takes.

Pete and Pravat patted our shoulders before we resumed walking.

We made it over to where Ms. Erika was and I had to stop myself from squealing.

Ms. Erika is my second favorite, my first favorite will always be Tankhun, she's such a queen.

Especially when she made her awesome appearance in episode 14.

"Hello. What kind of weapon would you like today?" Ms. Erika asked.

"Hello, Ms. Erika" Pravat politely wai'd to her.

Pete smiled at her before turning to Porsche and I.

"Go ahead. Choose" Pete gestured for us to pick whatever gun we wanted.

Porsche looked shocked before an excited grin appeared on his face, he slightly bounced up and down.

I smiled fondly at his excitement, it was just too adorable.

I let him pick out the weapon we would use.

I knew he wouldn't pick one right away, too excited to look through every single one of them, but I still let him do it either way.

After all, his excitement always brings a smile to my face.

Pete fondly rolled his eyes at his new friend while Pravat looked a little annoyed at how much time Porsche was taking.

He stopped Porsche and just clicked on the glock.

"Well, you both are newbies. I think a glock would be a good option" Pravat said.

I smiled and nodded while Porsche pouted but reluctantly nodded.

"One glock, please" Pete politely said.

"Would you like some bullets and a silencer as well?" Ms. Erika asked.

"Yes, please" I politely smiled.

Ms. Erika nodded and typed a few things before the door to the wall behind her opened up.

Porsche's eyes widened in delight while I let a small smile appear on my face.

The smile only disappeared when Pete and Pravat had entered the room, gesturing for us to follow.

Porsche was almost inside the room, but he stopped when he realized that I hadn't moved.

"Nong, are you coming?" Porsche asked.

I pressed my lips together and looked at my brother.

"Uh...is it alright if you go in by yourself and get my glock for me? I just don't feel comfortable being in there" I asked.

"Why? Is everything alright?" Porsche asked in concern.

"I'm fine. I promise. I just wanna be alone. I need to think, alone" I quickly said.

Not waiting for him to respond, I turned around and quickly stalked off.

When I was sure I was away from him and everyone else, I let out a sigh and leaned back against the wall.

I'm glad I managed to get myself out of that. I really didn't want to go inside.

And for a good reason.

It's just...I mentioned before that back in my world, in my old home, we had a shooting range in our basement.

The room I almost went inside was similar to the shooting range back at my home.

And...and I...I just wasn't quite ready to step inside the room.

No doubt it would've triggered some memories...

Memories that always seemed to appear whenever I see something or someone that reminds me of my parents.

Speaking of memories...

I slowly closed my eyes, letting my mind wander off to when I was eleven years old.

Flashback
Nobody's Pov

Eleven year old Liam Santiago was running around the shooting range, his eyes gleaming in delight at everything he saw.

The guns that were up on the shelves looked so cool, especially in person.

And the targets that he saw nearby almost had him grabbing a gun just to shoot at them.

Lincoln Santiago, Liam's father, was laughing softly at the way his son was admiring everything in sight.

He knew his son has been waiting to see the shooting range ever since his father told him about it and he was excited to finally be inside it.

Stella, Lincoln's wife and Liam's mother, was hesitant to let her little boy near the range.

But, she trusted her husband and she knew he'd never put their son in any danger.

And if she didn't give Liam permission to go down, no doubt he'd start crying as a way to guilt trap her.

"Calm down, buddy. You might trip if you continue running" Lincoln grinned.

Liam stopped running as he turned around to face his dad.

"I'm sorry, dad. But I'm just so happy to finally be down here" Liam grinned.

"I know. Just be lucky your mom finally agreed" Lincoln chuckled softly.

Liam nodded his head really fast, he looked like a bobble head, causing his dad to chuckle yet again.

Lincoln walked closer to his son and crouched down in front of him.

He took his small hands into his own and their eyes connected.

"Well, buddy, do you know why I brought you down here?" Lincoln softly asked.

Liam frowned and shook his head.

"Well, I brought you here because I think it's time you learn how to use a gun"

Liam gasped, he couldn't believe what he just heard.

He thought his dad was joking and would tell him just that, but the look in his eyes showed that he wasn't joking.

"Are you serious?" Liam excitedly asked.

"Of course. I think it's time my son starts to learn how to use a gun just like his old man" Lincoln grinned.

"You're not old, dad. Everyone at my school believes you're only twenty years old" Liam huffed.

Lincoln laughed at that and fondly shook his head.

Liam wasn't lying, though.

Many people believe that him and Stella are in their twenties but in reality they're both close to their forties.

It was honestly amusing that people believe them to be young just because of their looks.

"I appreciate that, buddy. But, as I was saying, it's time you learn how to use a gun. I want you to be able to defend yourself by any means necessary" Lincoln explained.

The thought of his son being in any kind of danger makes his skin crawl.

He knows that there are other ways he can defend himself, but he doesn't want to take any chances.

"What does mom think about this?" Liam asked.

"It took a while, but I was able to convince her to let you do this" Lincoln said.

He may or may not have bribed her with a lifetime supply of cookies if she agreed.

After all, they've been married for a while, he knows her better than anyone.

"So, what do you say, buddy?" Lincoln asked.

"I say lets do it!" Liam yelled, clearly excited.

"Alright! That's the spirit!" Lincoln yelled back, just as excited as his son.

Liam practically bounced up and down in excitement before lunging himself at his dad.

Lincoln happily laughed before wrapping his arms around his son, placing a gentle kiss to his head.

Flashback Ends
Liam's Pov

I gasped, slowly opening my eyes, when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I turned around, only to sigh in relief and relax when I saw that it was just Porsche.

Speaking of Porsche, his eyebrows were furrowed together and he was staring at me in concern.

"Nong, are you alright?" Porsche softly asked.

I cleared my throat and shook my head, plastering on a smile.

"I'm fine. Just lost in my thoughts" I responded.

"Are you sure?" Porsche asked, not looking convinced with my answer.

"Positive" I nodded.

I don't want him to worry.

After all, there are far more things to be worried about and I shouldn't be one of them.

"Alright, well come on. Eyebrows wants us in the tailor room" Porsche scoffed.

I nodded and followed Porsche as I let him lead the way.

It took a while but we finally made it to the tailor room where Kinn and the tailor man were waiting for us.

Oh...I almost forgot...

This is where we're going with Kinn to some place for an opening of a product.

It's where that assassin that Vegas, Kinn's cousin, hired to try and kill Kinn.

Now that I remember, I have to be more alert and focus.

She might be an assassin, but I've got a bigger advantage.

I know what she looks like and I'll be monitoring her the second I see her follow Kinn into the bathroom.

The tailor man had measured our sizes, making sure the suits we had to wear would be comfortable.

Once the measuring was done we got changed into half of the suit.

We just needed to put on our vests, blazers and ties and we should be good to go.

"Tonight is the opening of a new product. Taken place at a five star hotel" Kinn began explaining.

I always wonder why the hell they do stuff like that at a hotel.

I get it, it's obviously an important product and the hotel is five star, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

Why not in a luxurious building? Or maybe an art gallery?

"And this doesn't look good enough?" Porsche asked, clearly annoyed.

I shook my head and grabbed onto the black vest the tailor man had handed to me.

"This is the best look I've ever had in my life" Porsche said.

"It's the only best look you've ever had" I teasingly smiled at my brother.

Kinn let out a snort of amusement as he turned his head away from Porsche.

Even the tailor man had let out an amused snort, trying to cover it up with a cough.

Porsche let out an offended squeak and glared at me, but I merely shrugged at him.

Kinn cleared his throat before grabbing onto a black tie. He grabbed Porsche by his shoulders and turned him around to face the mirror.

Porsche let out a soft groan and rolled his eyes but didn't protest, letting Kinn do what he was doing.

Kinn positioned the tie where it's supposed to go, trying to see if the color matches Porsche's outfit.

However, the second he laid his eyes on Porsche through the mirror, he froze.

His eyes were discreetly trailing Porsche up and down, clearly mesmerizing his beauty.

I let a small smile appear on my face as I did my absolute best to contain my squeals.

I always love this scene because this is when Kinn is starting to feel something for Porsche, even if he tries to ignore it.

Porsche, having seen Kinn freeze, turned to look at him with raised eyebrows.

Kinn looked at him, swallowing thickly, before clearing his throat.

"Just make him decent. The same goes for Liam" Kinn told the tailor man.

Denial of feelings, I see...

The tailor man nodded as Kinn handed Porsche the tie before leaving.

Porsche glared at the direction he walked away in and rolled his eyes in annoyance.

I chuckled softly under my breath before going over to him. I took the tie from him and went to work.

"I can't believe that out of everything, you can't tie a tie" I smiled.

"In my defense, I never had to wear fancy suits when working at Hum's bar" Porsche rolled his eyes.

"Good point" I nodded.

Porsche smiled in satisfaction and I wanted to smack his head.

When I was done with his tie, the tailor man handed me the blazer and I thanked him before taking it from him.

I handed it to Porsche, who smiled and nodded, before putting it on.

Wow...he's good looking in the show and in person, the suit really is good on him.

Smiling, I turned him around so that he could look at himself in the mirror.

When Porsche saw himself, fully and nicely dressed, his eyes widened in shock.

"Oh wow" Porsche breathed out in awe.

"You look so handsome, hia" I complimented.

"I honestly didn't expect it to look this good" Porsche softly said.

I shook my head and wrapped my arms around his waist from behind, resting my chin on his shoulder.

"You're beautiful, hia. Always. This suit just expands your beauty" I softly smiled.

Porsche chuckled fondly as he turned his head to look at me.

"Thanks, nong. You're not so bad yourself" Porsche grinned.

"Hia, I'm still getting ready" I pouted.

Porsche let out an amused laugh as he patted my head before gently pushing me away from him.

I huffed and crossed my arms, but I was happy I got him to smile and laugh.

"Alright, well, do you want me to wait with you and we can go out together?" Porsche asked.

"It's fine, hia. You go on ahead. I'll just put the blazer and tie on and meet you there" I said.

"Alright. If you're sure" Porsche nodded.

He gave me a quick side hug before pulling away as he turned around to leave.

I went to grab the blazer, only to

"Oh, and hia" I quickly called out to him.

"Yeah?" Porsche asked, turning to look at me.

"Be careful while you're walking. Try not to trip" I softly said.

While that scene was really funny, had Jack and I dying of laughter for hours, I still wanted him to be careful.

I'm trying to save him from embarrassment as well as life threatening situations.

Porsche raised an eyebrow at me, clearly confused, before shrugging and walking away.

I really hope he takes my advice and doesn't trip.

I sighed before grabbing onto a black tie, similar to Porsche's, before putting it on the same way I did with him.

The tailor man handed me the blazer, I thanked him and put it on.

As I looked at myself in the mirror I allowed a tiny smile to appear on my face.

I really do look good...

My eyes wandered down to my

If I were to feel nervous about tonight, I'll be able to calm down just by looking at my necklace.

It'll help ease my nerves and help me remember that even if Jack's not physically here with me, he'll always have a special place in my heart.

And I'm gonna need to be at the top of my game today.

I gotta keep Kinn safe from that assassin.

I wai'd to the tailor man, who repeated the gesture, before leaving the tailor room to head down to the others.

Finally, I arrived at the hall of the entrance and saw the guards standing inside and some were outside.

Kinn, Ken and Porsche were all standing by the car, no doubt waiting for me before leaving.

The guards that were standing inside all gasped when they laid their eyes on me.

Kinn, Ken and Porsche all heard their gasps and their eyes locked onto mine.

Kinn and Ken's eyes widened when they saw me while Porsche had a proud and smug grin on his face.

His facial expression screamed 'hell yeah, that's my brother' and his grin had me feeling all happy.

I made eye contact with the bodyguards and bowed at them before walking towards my boss, my friend and my brother.

I did glance down a few times, wanting to be careful, before successfully making it outside.

I stood in front of Kinn and Porsche, smiling at both of them.

"I'm sorry for the wait, Mr. Kinn" I politely bowed.

"Wow, Liam. You look nice" Kinn complimented.

It wasn't a flirty compliment, it was just a regular compliment.

Thank god.

Like I said, I'm not gonna get in a relationship with him, I feel nothing for him at all.

And, he's reserved for Porsche and him only.

I let out a soft groan when Porsche stood at my side, our hips knocking slightly against each others, before he wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"That's my brother. You clean up nice" Porsche grinned.

"Thanks, hia" I chuckled softly.

Kinn smiled at our interaction before gesturing for us to get in the backseat of the car with him.

The two of us nodded, linking our arms, before moving to the other side of the car to get in.

I let Porsche go in first, that way he'd be sitting next to Kinn, while I'd sit near the window.

I closed the door and watched as Kinn got inside. Ken closed the door before getting into the passenger seat.

"Hia, were you careful when you came out?"

"No need to worry, nong. I took your advice and was careful while walking, I didn't trip" Porsche proudly smiled.

I sighed in relief and smiled back at him, patting his back.

I heard Kinn chuckle in amusement and heard Ken scoff.

I resisted the urge to glare at Ken and simply looked outside the window as the driver started the car.

Here we go...

At The Event

When we arrived at the event Kinn was greeted by nearly everyone here and whisked away by a few people as well.

I guess he's a really well known family. Him and his family.

Go figure, I guess.

Of course, Ken, Porsche and I had to stay alert and make sure everything runs smoothly.

If something is wrong then we alert the others, including Kinn.

I wanted to report the lady/assassin that's being paid to kill Kinn, but I don't see her so there's not much of a report to go about.

Not only that, but I'm hoping I can stop Porsche from drinking all of those champagne glasses.

The last thing I need is for him to get drunk while working.

I don't want him to be distracted let alone drunk. I need him alert and fighting.

Kinn was talking to a few people, making a speech, while the three of us were guarding the place.

Ken had taken his place somewhere else while Porsche and I were standing next to each other.

I scanned the place, trying to find the assassin, making sure my eyes are on her the entire time.

I don't want to lose focus, especially when she follows Kinn into the bathroom. I gotta be prepared.

After a few minutes of scanning the place, I finally found her.

She was close to where Kinn was, a glass in her hand, pretending to admire the place.

I swallowed thickly and looked at Porsche, ready to warn him about her, only to see he had already started drinking his first glass.

"Hia, what are you doing?" I asked.

"Enjoying myself with some champagne" Porsche smiled.

"Hia, we can't be drinking on the job. Remember, we have to be focused" I reminded him.

"Oh come on, one drink isn't going to kill me" Porsche rolled his eyes.

"Hia..." I trailed off.

I tried taking the glass from him, ready to hand it back to the waiter, only for Porsche to stop me.

"No, you're not going to scold or lecture me. I'm the oldest and therefore I can do whatever the hell I want. And I'll start by enjoying my drink" Porsche gritted his teeth.

He glared at me, his annoyance was visible, before gulping down the glass.

I gritted my teeth, glaring back at him, before rolling my eyes.

I wanted him to understand that I'm trying to look out for him, not just Kinn, and I don't want him getting in trouble.

And why isn't he taking this seriously?

He's the one that was hesitant about accepting this job, he was the one that said joining the mafia would be dangerous.

Yet, here he is, goofing off and just not caring that much about our new job.

I guess a few things are meant to remain the same like how they were in the show.

Like Porsche and his actions.

Oh, whatever, I can't really waste my time with that.

Turning away from my stubborn brother, my eyes locked back onto Kinn.

He wai'd at the people he was talking to before excusing himself to go to the bathroom.

My eyes wandered over to the assassin, just in time to see her setting her glass down as she began following him.

I turned to Porsche, who was simply gulping down all the glasses, and shook my head.

Not allowing myself to waste anymore time, I quickly left my position and began following them.

I made sure to be quiet, not wanting the woman to know I was following them.

I want to catch her off guard so that way I can have the upperhand while fighting.

I watched as she entered the bathroom and I entered slowly after, quietly closing the door behind me.

I walked further into the bathroom, leaning against the wall so that I'd still be hidden, and decided to watch for a little while.

Kinn was busy washing his hands while the lady had slowly

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought it's the ladies room" the lady apologized.

I quietly snorted at that. She's a good actor, I'll give her that.

Kinn spared her a glance, a sigh escaping his lips, as he went back to washing his hands.

He calmly turned the water off, he dried his hands, before turning his body around to face her.

"I'm sorry. You're not my type" Kinn apologized.

That's definitely obvious.

The lady hummed, slowly pushing herself off the wall.

"Well, you are not my type either!" the lady sneered at him.

Kinn looked taken aback, confusion taking over his entire face.

His eyes widened when she whipped out her baton, a glare settled on her face as she stared at him.

Without wasting anymore time, I made my appearance known to both parties by sprinting towards the assassin.

I practically tackled her to the ground and watched as Kinn backed away in surprise.

The assassin pushed me off of her and I rolled onto my back.

She grabbed onto her baton and tried hitting me with it, but I rolled away just in time.

I shot up from the ground as she screamed, swinging her baton at me, and ducked as glass brok and shattered across the ground.

She swung her baton at Kinn, who quickly ducked and rushed to my side.

I gritted my teeth and pushed him behind me, getting into a fighting stance.

"Mr. Kinn, get out of here!" I yelled.

"No! I'm not leaving you alone!" Kinn yelled back.

Him and his stubbornness, I swear to god...

I quickly shoved Kinn to the ground as the assassin lunged towards us.

I wrapped my arms around her and spun us around a few times before pinning her to the wall by wrapping my arm around her neck.

She gasped and tried swinging her baton at me, again, but I was faster.

Using my free hand, I grabbed her baton and tossed it into one of the stalls, preventing her from using it again.

I pressed my fingers to my earpiece, I desperately need backup.

"Ken, Porsche, get to the bathroom now!" I yelled.

This lady is skilled and persistent. In other words, she's pretty badass, even if she's trying to kill Kinn.

Unfortunately, I got distracted, giving her the opportunity to headbutt me.

I yelped in pain and released my hold around her neck, stumbling backwards.

She smirked before screaming, running at me as she swung her fist, managing to hit me straight in the nose.

I yelped, again, and stumbled to the ground near Kinn.

"Liam!" Kinn yelled.

"I'm fine, relax!" I yelled back.

The lady ran at us, but I quickly kicked her legs from underneath, watching as she fell to her back.

I smirked before shooting up from the ground and pulling out my gun.

"Stand down, bitch!" I sneered at her.

She gritted her teeth and glared at me, clearly angry and disappointed.

Just before I could grab her arm and pull her up, the bathroom door opened and footsteps were heard.

"Liam?!" Porsche yelled.

I turned around and sighed, unaware that I had slightly lowered my gun.

"Hia!" I yelled, relieved.

Unfortunately, I got distracted, giving the lady the advantage she needed.

She kicked my legs from underneath, causing me to yelp and fall to the ground on my back.

I groaned in pain before feeling her on top of me.

My eyes widened and a gasp escaped my lips as she wrapped her hands around me, using all her strength to choke me.

"LIAM!" Porsche screamed.

He sprinted towards us, sparing Kinn a glance, before tackling the lady back to the ground.

I coughed loudly and sat up, bringing my hands up to my neck as I tried getting my oxygen back.

I spared Kinn, who was still on the ground, a glance before turning back to my brother and the lady.

The lady shoved Porsche off of her and shot up from the ground. Porsche shot up from the ground and swung at her, managing to aim at her nose and watched in satisfaction as she stumbled backwards to the wall.

Unfortunately, the lady recovered and swung back at him. Porsche stumbled and held onto the sink to keep him standing.

"Where the hell is Ken?!" Kinn yelled.

"How should I know?!" Porsche yelled back, frustrated.

"Now isn't the time to argue!" I yelled back, clearly frustrated myself.

My eyes widened as I watched the lady retrieve her baton, turning to Porsche, prepared to hit him with it.

"Hia! Move!" I yelled.

I ran towards him and wrapped my arms around his waist. I spun him around and shoved him to the ground to ensure he'd be safe.

Sighing in relief, I spun back to face the lady, ready to fight.

Unfortunately, she had an advantage, she was armed while I wasn't.

My gun was still on the ground after she sent me to the ground minutes ago.

The lady screamed and swung her baton at me and, unfortunately, she managed to swing at me. Right in the face.

Pain shot through me but I couldn't even defend myself. She swung at me again, her aim was stronger than the previous aim.

Pain, again, shot through me and I found myself colliding with the mirror of the bathroom.

Glass broke and shattered all over the ground, my head landed on top of the sink before I slid to the ground, hearing a loud thud as I made impact with the ground.

"LIAM!" I heard the fearful screams from Porsche and Kinn.

I groaned, feeling too weak and tired to say anything or move, and tried looking from where I could see.

My vision was blurry, my eyes were slowly dropping, I could only see the lady running out of the bathroom, clearly trying to make her escape and avoid getting caught.

Everything started becoming dark and I could hear screaming.

The only thing I could see through my blurry vision was Kinn and Porsche running towards me. As well as Ken rushing inside the bathroom.

That was it before I completely blacked out.
