Chapter 9
FOUR YEARS HAVE PASSED, and the families have grown and become close. Madeline, Michael, Amelia, Johnathan, and Henry are Kings and Queens of their kingdoms, and they enjoy visiting each other for movie nights, game nights, and holidays. The children enjoy playing together and running around the gardens and their nurseries.
Madeline and Amelia are twenty-one, Kaitlyn is twenty-two, Henry is twenty-three, Johnathan is twenty-four, and Michael is twenty-five. Celena and Laura are seven years old, and Rachel and Logan are six years old. All four children are in preschool and have a lot of friends. They enjoy playing hide and seek, climbing trees, swinging, and being with their family.
Currently, the family is at a beach and is playing volleyball. The adults play on their field, and the kids have theirs. Madeline and Michael lead with the most points, Amelia and Johnathan are in second place, and Kaitlyn and Henry are last. The children play without scores, but everyone enjoys the sport.
Then, they go swimming and splash each other. The children can swim on their own and do not need floaties. Of course, the parents do not let them swim too far and keep them as close to the shore as possible.
Once everyone has had fun and is worn out from playing in the water, the family returns to their setup, collects the wet and dirty towels, and places them in their bag. They also pack up the toys and sunscreen. The only remaining things are the chairs, the mini pool for the kids, and the umbrellas.
Celena. Mommy, can I have a juice box?
Amelia. Sure, sweetie.
She turns around to grab a juice box and sees Celena asleep in the pool. She smiles and places Celena on her blanket. Not long after, the rest of the kids fall asleep and are wrapped carefully in their blankets. The chairs, umbrellas and the pool are packed away, and everything is carried to the car. Once everything is put in the car, the kids are placed in their booster seats. The family arrives home, and the children are changed and put to bed.
Madeline. I cannot believe how fast our children are growing. It feels like just yesterday that we were holding our babies, and now they are in kindergarten, growing so well and learning so much.
Kaitlyn. I know! I wish time would slow down. All three will be in their double-digits era in just a few years. One day, they will all be grown up and married, and we will have grandchildren, and we will get to repeat the baby stage all over again.
Johnathan. We must focus on the present and enjoy every moment with our children while they still want to be with us.
Henry. There will likely be a day when they change entirely and pretend we are ruining their lives.
Michael. Hopefully, that only happens once they are at least thirteen or never.
While the children have an afternoon nap, the parents clean the castle. They sweep, vacuum, and mop the floors; they scrub the walls, countertops, and other surfaces; clean the curtains; deep clean the bathrooms and the nursery, and they have the housekeeper, butler, and gardener clean the rest that they cannot get to from tiredness. Once the castle is clean, the kids wake up and change into their evening outfits. Supper is prepared and served, and the family sits down for a nice meal.
The appetizers are breadsticks with marinara sauce, the main course consists of chicken nuggets and steak with green beans and carrots with a side of applesauce, and then there is a mint palette cleanser, with dessert consisting of chocolate cake and cupcakes. The drinks are water, milk, apple juice, orange, red, and white.
After supper, the dishes are cleared, and everyone moves to the living room. They all gather around the coffee table with their blankets and stuffed animals and play a Monopoly game. Then, they watch a movie and finally start their nighttime winddown routine.
Amelia. First is our favorite part of the day. Mine is spending time together as a family.
Madeline. Mine is starting up my final business location for the bakery.
Kaitlyn. My favorite part of the day was watching the kids learn to write the alphabet and numbers 1 - 10 for the first time. They are so intelligent.
Michael. I agree. My favorite part was teaching our kids how to swim in the deep, even though it was shallow.
Henry. I especially loved starting a daycare and teaching so many children. Especially those that do not have an equal chance of getting an education.
Johnathan. I loved getting a position as a bartender at the local restaurant.
Celena. My favorite thing was going to the toy store.
Laura. Mine too!
Rachel. And me.
Logan. Me too!
A round of laughs ensue about the toy store, and then they place money from $1 - $10 in the jar for their trip to Disney World and end the night with hugs and kisses. Madeline and Michael go upstairs, get their twins dressed for bed, help them brush their teeth, and read them a bedtime story. Then Kaitlyn and Henry repeat the process with Celena for Laura, Amelia, and Johnathan.
The children are asleep for the night, and each couple gets ready for bed, snuggles under the covers of their beds, and falls asleep into the land of dreams.
Five years later, the family is at Disney World, staying in two connecting rooms and one standalone room next door. The first is princess-themed, the second is Star Wars-themed and the final is Pixar-themed.
They all have an itinerary that includes visiting one park each day.
Rachel. Which park are we going to first? I want to go to Magic Kingdom.
Logan. I want to go to Animal Kingdom.
Celena. I want to go to Hollywood Studios.
Laura. I want to go to Epcot.
Madeline. According to the itinerary, we are going to Magic Kingdom today, then Animal Kingdom tomorrow, Hollywood Studios on Tuesday, and Epcot on Wednesday. Then, we are going to Blizzard Beach on Thursday, and on Friday is Typhoon Lagoon.
Once everyone knows the parks they are going to, they get ready to leave the hotel and arrive at Magic Kingdom. The day starts with rides, then food, and ends with fireworks. Each day is the same, and when Saturday comes, the family spends their leftover money on toys, stuffed animals, and food for the trip home. On the way home, Madeline pulls off the highway to a hotel.
Michael. Why are we stopping at a hotel?
Madeline. I planned a surprise while we were shopping at Disney Springs.
Everyone looks at her, confused, but they grab their bags and follow her inside the hotel after not receiving an answer. After receiving the room cards, everyone heads to their rooms and finds out they are all staying in one room. There are three master bedrooms, three separate rooms for the kids, a living room, a dining room, and a full-size kitchen. There is also a private balcony overlooking the city.
Madeline. I know this looks amazing, but the real surprise is outside.
Everyone follows Madeline outside to the garden, where a quartet is playing violins, and a big table is set up with seats for everyone. Since we could not have a fancy dinner due to leaving Disney World, I would like to surprise you all.
Everyone sits down and enjoys their meal. After dinner, the family enjoys a pleasant stroll through the garden, and they are allowed to pick any flowers they want as the staff are always planting more. Each couple picks a rose, and the children pick gardenias, sunflowers, and daisies.
After having a lovely stroll and picking their favorite flowers, the family heads back to their room and wind down for the night, eventually falling asleep in their beds. Upon arrival at their castle the next day, everyone unpacks and organizes everything from the trip. The remainder of the day consists of cleaning, playing, eating, and spending time together as a family.
Celena. Mommy, Daddy, do you think me, Laura, Rachel, and Logan will stay friends?
Amelia. Of course!
Celena. I also have another question.
Amelia. What is that?
Celena. What is my relationship with Laura, Rachel, and Logan?
Johnathan. Laura is your cousin once removed, and Rachel and Logan are your niece and nephew.
Celena. Why?
Johnathan. Well, Kaitlyn and Logan are your cousins twice removed, and they are mine and your mother's cousins. Then Madeline and Michael are your aunt and uncle, so their children are your niece and nephew.
Celena. Okay!
Amelia. Any more questions?
Celena. No.
Johnathan. Then, goodnight. Love you.
Amelia. Love you.
Celena. I love youboth too.
