Chapter 4

MEANWHILE, IN MACEDONIA, Amelia, Johathan, and Madeline are at a festival enjoying the music, food, and warm and inviting atmosphere.

Madeline has not met anyone who sparked her interest but has enjoyed spending time with her sister and brother-in-law.

Madeline. Amelia, look at these little shoes. My niece might like them when she is born. Speaking of my niece, have you two decided on a name?

Amelia. I agree; those would be adorable for her. As far as a name is concerned, we have decided to keep it secret until she is born because we do not want anyone overhearing and trying to change our minds about it.

Madeline. That is a clever idea. You know I will love her no matter what her name is.

Amelia. I do know, and I am grateful for that. How about you? I have noticed you have yet to find a match.

Madeline. True. Everyone I talk to seems too stuck up on themselves. Many think women are only born to raise children and clean the house, or in our case, a castle.

Amelia. That is why I was lucky to find Johnathan.

Madeline. I hope I find someone in time. I have wanted to find someone to love me for myself and raise my family. I want to do what I want without a man putting up restrictions or barriers.

Amelia. I want that for you as well. Do not worry; you will find someone who will treat you how you deserve to be treated.

Madeline was about to reply when someone bumped into her, and a stack of papers flew around them.

Madeline stooped and picked up the pages. She looked up at the person and was met with bright blue eyes and white hair. The young man was light-skinned like her, and she smiled, handing the papers to him.

??. Thank you.

Madeline. You're welcome. I am Princess Madeline of Malidona, and this is my twin sister Amelia. She is also the Princess of Malidona.

The young man smiled and bowed to them.

??. It is a pleasure to meet you, your Highnesses. I am Michael. I am a simple commoner.

Madeline. That is all right. I hope nothing is awry with your papers. What are you writing?

Michael. All my papers are in order. I am authoring a book. I am nearly finished.

Madeline. What is it about?

Michael. A dashing young man meets a lovely young lady, and they have magical powers and families.

Madeline. That sounds interesting. We can meet again sometime, and hopefully, I will get to see the story.

Michael. I would like that. How about the cafe down the street next week?

Madeline. That works for me.

Michael. Perfect. I will see you then.

Michael leaves to continue perusing the market stands. Madeline smiles and joins Amelia and Johnathan.

Johnathan. Who was that young man?

Madeline. His name is Michael.

Amelia. The two of you looked to be smitten with each other.

Madeline. Perhaps. We are meeting again next week at the cafe, and he is writing a romance book.

Amelia. So, he is a writer. That is nice. Do you think he has magical powers like you? He seemed to possess such qualities.

Madeline. I do not know. We can discuss it at the cafe if he wants.

The trio continues shopping and returns to the castle to set everything where it goes.

Johnathan. That was fun.

Amelia. I agree.

Madeline. I loved hanging out with you two today.

Amelia. And we loved having you along.

Johnathan. Let us do this more often.

The three of them agreed, and they finished their meal and headed to bed.

After four weeks, Madeline and Michael fell in love. They have shared many stories and secrets, met each other's families, and gone on two dates.

Currently, the two of them are in the living room with Amelia, Johnathan, Kaitlyn, Henry, King Colin, Queen Serafina, King Derin, Queen Paisley, King Edward, Queen Sarcofia, Sam, Quincy, Georgina, and Tatum.

Kaitlyn is 38 weeks, and Amelia is 34 weeks. They eat ice cream, chocolate for Anna, and hazelnut for Rapunzel.

Colin. So, this is your family?

Michael. Yes, your majesties.

Sam. We formed from different experiences in our childhood. I was an outcast because I would always find something out of place and have to fix it, even if it was bothersome. Quincy was always stealing food from various homes and was locked in prison multiple times; Tatum gave money to people experiencing poverty to help better their lives, and Georgina would take classes at night to learn about horticulture and landscaping. She wants to become a florist and gardener, and Jack is rescued from a frozen pond that is not entirely frozen, and that is how he discovers his magic.

Serafina. So, you are a band of misfits that come together to form a family. How sweet!

Georgina. We work well together and make a talented team.

Derin. What do you do for fun?

Quincy. We do what everyone does. We usually read, play music, write, sing, and build sandcastles.

Paisley. Excuse me for being so blunt, but where do you live?

Sandy. We live just north of Malidona.

Michael. It is a small cottage, but we manage.

Edward. Sounds like you got a good place.

Sarcofia. Do you have anywhere you enjoy spending time?

Michael. We like to go to the market. We each take a turn every day since there are a lot of us, and we do not need to all go to buy just a few things.

Madeline. The market is actually where we met. I bumped into him by mistake and helped him collect his dropped papers. He was in the process of authoring a book.

Michael. And I am almost done with it.

Madeline. That is awesome! Will you Tell me what it is about?

Michael. Only when it finished. I do not want to give away any spoilers.

Madeline pouts and playfully nudges him.

Madeline. I can wait a bit longer. I am so proud of you for doing what you love. And I cannot believe my sister and cousin are so close to having their children.

Kaitlyn smiles while rubbing her swollen abdomen. This little one is going to be so spoiled. Everyone already loves her, and she has not even been born yet. Much like my cousin once removed.

Amelia. Yes. Both our daughters have already received so much love. And I am grateful that Michael and his family love them even though they have not been in the family for long.

Michael. Of course. I love kids. I have always thought of having a family and being married one day. And I am already one step closer to that. I have a fantastic girlfriend; one day, she will be my wife and mother to our children.

The butler comes in with a letter, and Amelia takes the letter and returns it to the group after thanking the butler.

She reads the letter and smiles.

Johnathan. What is love? What does the letter say? And from whom is it?

Amelia. It is from your parents. They have agreed to meet us here and are on their way as we speak.

Johnathan. Oh wow. I thought they were still in Rome.

Amelia. It appears not. He says they returned last week and missed you terribly.

Johnathan. As have I. I cannot wait to see them again.

???. You do not have to wait long.

Johnathan turns and smiles as he sees his mother in the doorway.

Johnathan. Hello mother. It is so good to see you.

???. It is good to see you as well. Your father's outside putting away the carriage.

Johnathan. Everyone, this is my mother, Her Majesty Queen Joselina. And my father is His Majesty, King Victor.

At that moment, King Victor walks in and is greeted warmly by his son and everyone else.

Victor. How have you been my boy?

Johnathan. I have been well. Please, have a seat. I will have the housekeeper bring us all some fresh tea and scones.

Joselina. Thank you. You have always been such a gentleman.

Joselina and Victor sit with Johnathan, and the group gets to know each other. The scones and tea are brought out.

The hours pass, and everyone is full of laughter, joy, and happiness. Eventually, evening becomes night, and everyone leaves the castle.

After exchanging hugs and well wishes, Amelia and Madeline sit on the couch while their parents retire to bed.

Amelia. That was fun getting to know everyone. I am glad that Johnathan enjoyed his surprise. I hoped he would be excited to see his parents after six months of travel.

Madeline. I am glad that seeing his parents brought him joy. Being with family is the best gift, and the occasion does not matter.

Amelia smiles and hugs her sister. Madeline returns the smile and hug.

Amelia. We ought to head to bed as well.

Madeline. I believe so. Goodnight.

Amelia. Goodnight.

The sisters fall asleep in bed, unaware of the chaos of pregnancy and childbirth that is to ensue in the coming weeks. As the girls fall asleep, they dream of their future of bringing new life into the world, and they smile softly as they let the night's darkness take over and are lulled gently into a deep sleep.

Over the next few weeks, the sisters and families play games, go on walks, and enjoy each other's company as they prepare for the new arrivals expected to be born soon.
