Note: I DO NOT own The Owl House or DC Comics so don't report me, this is for entertainment purposes only. Also, this chapter is based off of season 1, episode 16. As for episode 13, Luz uses the wisdom of Solomon to come up with the plan she and the detention track students use in canon to beat the Greater Basilisk. The only difference being that Luz's transformed state literally punches the magic out of the Greater Basilisk. In episode 14, after Tibbles shrinks Luz, King, Willow & Gus. Luz transforms, beating up the tiny monsters in the tiny circus and beats up Tibbles earlier than in canon before returning to normal size. In episode 15, Luz's transformed state fights off the inner Willow before finding out that Amity's parents forced her to stop being friends with Willow. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Luz has just walked into Hexside along with Willow and Gus to see the school having all sorts of decorations.

Luz: What's with the decorations?

Willow: Oh, right, this is your first year.

Gus: This is for the upcoming Grom.

Luz: Grom? Like a party?

Willow: Mhm.

Luz: Huh, you know, in the human realm we have something similar called Prom. I was kicked out of my last school dance for dressing like an otter. Maybe this year I can be your Grom Queen.

Gus: . . .

Willow: Um . . . that's not something people usually sign up for.

Suddenly, someone bumped into Luz as some items fell to the floor.

Amity: Watch it, nitwit! Oh. Hi, Luz and co. Sorry about that.

Luz: No problem. Let me help you. Here, your note.

Amity snatched it out of her hand.

Luz: Wow, you got some quick grabbers.

Amity: It's just . . . it's . . . private . . .

They then listen to the school speakers going off.

Principal Bump: Attention, Hexside Students, this is your principal speaking.

Gus: Oh man, this is it.

Willow: He's announcing who will be this year's Grom royalty.

They said as everyone was left in suspense.

Principal Bump: This year, I have the privilege to bestow our highest Grom honor to . . . Amity Blight.

Luz: Woooooo, yeah, Amity! High five!

Luz then realized no one was cheering and that Amity seemed upset. Amity then ran away as Luz looked on.

Luz: Don't leave me hanging!

Willow: We should give her space. Being Grom Queen is a tough job, even for Amity.

Some time later, Principal Bump had a bunch of students organizing the decorations for the gym.

Luz entered the gym in search of Amity, she saw her sitting on the bleachers.

Luz then approached Amity and sat right next to her.

Luz: You okay, Amity? What's got you down in the dumps?

Amity: I'm guessing you don't know much about Grom?

Luz: Isn't it just a school dance?

Amity: No, it's not just a dance party. Beneath the gym floors is a monster called Grom. Short for Grometheus, the Fear Bringer. Every year, it tries to break out of it's prison, and a student has to defeat it before it invades the town. Ever the optimist, Bump holds a party and calls it tradition. The worst thing is that Grom can read minds and shapeshift into your worst fears. And mine . . . is very embarrassing.

Luz: If it worries you so much, why don't you tell Principal Bump you want out of this death match biz? Unless talking to Bump is your greatest fear?

Amity chuckled.

Amity: No, but that's a good idea. Thanks, Luz.

She says before leaving the gym.

After school had ended, Luz went straight home.

Luz: I'm back!

Eda: Ow!

The Owl Lady yelled upstairs as Luz went to check.

Luz: Guys?

She said as she sees Eda wearing a red collared shirt and a brown tux.

Eda: I told you to be careful with those pins.

King: Why am I doing this? I don't even wear clothes!

Luz: Wow, Eda, you look nice. What're you dressed for?

Eda: I'm chaperoning Grom tonight, so I have to look sharp.

King: And Gus asked me to co-emcee the fight. We're gonna turn this bloodbath into a fun bath!

Eda: Ooh, have they announced the victim yet?

Luz: Yeah, Amity. She's pretty nervous about it too. She said she'd ask the principal to get someone else to do it. I hope he says yes.

A few minutes later, Luz decided to go for a walk outside as she makes her way through the forest.

Luz then hears footsteps in the brush, she quietly tip toes her way towards it before grabbing a stick and running at full speed.

She then bumped into someone, she quickly used her light spell in the darkness to see Amity having fallen into a mud puddle.

Luz: Oh my gosh, Amity! I'm so sorry!

She said as she went over to help her up.

Amity: And here I thought this day couldn't get any worse.

Luz: What do you mean?

Amity: I talked to principal Bump, but he said no. I'm Grom Queen, unless I can find a replacement. But who'd wanna switch with me?

Luz: I would.

Amity: What?

Luz: Amity Blight, I'll do it! I'll take your place and face Grom in the arena! I'll be your fearless champion!

She said enthusiastically until a huge, freaky spider crawls onto her face. Luz screams loudly as she dumps her face into the mud, rolling around in it.

Luz: SHAZAM! SHAZAM! SHAZAM! SHAZAM! SHAZAM! SHAZAM!

She yelled as multiple lightning bolts hit her in an attempt to to kill the spider. She admits that she went overboard afterwards.

The next day, Luz was looking through a chest finding several outfits until Hooty appeared with his face right up against Luz's.

Hooty: Hey, Luz. You have a guest.

Luz: Hooty! No touching!

She shoos him away just before her bedroom door opens.

Luz: Hey, Amity.

Amity: If that bird tube ever talks to me again, I'm going to destroy it. You ready to train?

Luz: What do you think I should wear to Grom? This one says "Witch with a Dark Side", but this one says "I'm an Otter . . . with a Dark Side."

Amity: Luz, you need to take this seriously. If you can't defeat Grom, then everyone in the Isles will have to live out their worst nightmare.

Hooty: You wanna hear my worst nightmare?

He says with his face pressed up against Amity.

Amity then proceeds to assault Hooty as the owl tube creature hoots in pain while Luz tries to get Amity off of him, pleading for her to stop.

After Amity's rampage, Luz bandaged up Hooty and gave him an eyepatch.

Amity: Okay, Grom can transform into your worst fears. What are you afraid of, Luz?

Luz: . . . Look, Amity, I appreciate you wanting to help, but trust me, I got this. I have the Wisdom of Solomon, the Strength of Hercules, the Endurance of Atlas, the Power of Zeus, the Courage of Achilles and the Speed of Mercury. You've seen me in action, Grom's gonna be a piece of cake.

Amity wanted to argue against this, but she knew the human was right. Luz is very powerful, she's clearly the best suited to defeating Grom.

Amity: . . . Okay, if you say so, Luz.

Later that day, the sun has set and the moon has risen. It's Grom Night as everyone came dressed up and with their dates.

Amity was at the gym doors looking at her folded note.

Luz: Hey, Amity. Nice dress.

Amity: Oh, thanks.

She says with a blush on her cheeks.

Luz: So what do you think about my outfit?

Amity: You look . . . nice. Strange, but nice. And . . . I just wanna thank you, Luz. Honestly, I'm kind of amazed with how fearless you are. You've done things I could never do.

Luz chuckled.

Luz: Yeah right! You going soft on me, Blight?

Amity laughed.

Amity: In your dreams.

They then look as they hear a microphone going off.

Gus: Now introducing our Grom Queen. You know her, you love her, you've at least heard about her . . . Luz, the human!

A spotlight came on, revealing Luz to the crowd as everyone cheers for her.

Luz: Wish me luck.

She said before heading inside the gym.

Amity: . . . Luck.

She says with sincerity.

Gus then presses a button which opens the gym floors as well as raising two walls with a variety of weapons hanging from them.

Luz decided to go with the chained mace, placing one of her glyphs on it as she enters the room beneath the gym with confidence.

She then turns around to see a black sludge-like substance moving around.

Luz: Come on out, Grom!

Suddenly, the sludge turned into several cats with human faces as they spoke to her, claiming to be people trapped in a cat's body and begging to help turn them back to normal.

Luz was weirded out by this as she slams the mace down to the floor, activating the ice glyph as it creates a large ice wall, launching the cats into the air.

The crowd cheers for Luz.

Eda: You got this, kid!

She yelled as Grom shapeshifts into a giant phone with a picture of an online jerk you wants to debate for no reason.

Luz: You're not coming from a place of intellectual honesty, so debating you would be pointless!

She yelled, using another ice glyph to impale the phone with an ice spike.

The crowd cheers a third time as Luz continues to fight Grom, defeating each form it took.

Luz: Is that all you got, Grom? I'm beating you and I haven't even transformed yet!

She said just before Grom used one of it's tendrils to touch Luz's forehead.

Suddenly, there was a bright light as Luz was blinded by it.

When the light dissipated, Luz looked around and her eyes widened in shock.

Throughout the room she saw the unmoving, lifeless bodies of all her friends and loved ones.

Her mom, Eda, King, Hooty, Willow, Gus & Amity.

Luz then looked ahead to see the Wizard, coughing as he was lying on the floor in pain.

Luz: Wizard!

She yelled as she ran to her predecessor.

Luz: Wizard, what happened to you?!

Shazam: Luz . . . why would you . . . let this happen? I gave you my power . . . to protect others.

He coughed.

Shazam: . . . Why would you . . . let us . . . die?

He says before succumbing to death.

Luz: Wizard . . . Wizard, no!

She yelled as tears fell down her face. She then heard the sound of thunder and lightning behind her as she slowly turns her head to see a tall man wearing a black suit with a lightning bolt on the chest area, the man's face hidden within a black cloak and cape.

Luz: Adam . . .

She said, terrified.

Grom: How pathetic . . . the Wizard gave you the power? Such a waste. You disgust me, Luz Noceda.

Luz: No . . .

Grom: You are weak!

Luz: No . . .

Grom: You could never protect them from me!

Luz: NOOOO!! Shazam!!

She screamed as she transformed, getting up and running towards Adam with tears in her eyes.

Luz: I'll make you pay!!

She yells, uppercutting Grom straight through the school ceiling and leaping into the air after the shape shifting monster.

Everyone was shocked by this as they quickly made it outside to see Luz fighting Grom.

Luz kept attacking with powerful punches and kicks and blasting it with lightning.

Grom was delighted by the fear and anger within Luz as he continues to mess with her, making "Adam" seem invincible and impossible to defeat. Though he was sustaining more damage from Luz's attacks than he had against anyone else before.

"Adam" started hitting back, Grom being able to replicate Luz's level of strength as Luz was getting a beat down.

Luz tried her best to keep up with this fake Adam as everyone looked on.

Eda: So that's the guy Luz has to fight someday?

Amity: Oh, Luz . . .

They said to themselves, worried for our protagonist as she continues to fight Grom.

Luz: Grom . . . it's one thing to turn into things that gross me out . . . but to show me that?! My friends and family dying?! Not being able to save them?! That I HAVE to fight Adam someday?! That's your biggest mistake!!!

She screamed as her punches had gotten faster and more powerful than before as she began to push Grom back.

The monster was shocked by this as he tried to keep up.

Luz then slams both her feet into the ground before leaping towards "Adam" as she tackles him up into the sky.

Everyone was shocked to see that instead of falling down, Luz was actually flying.

Even Grom was shocked by this as Luz gave him a look before letting it go.

As Grom begins to fall, Luz hits the monster with a huge blast of lightning, launching it towards the ground and creating a huge explosion.

When the dust settled, everyone watched as Grom had been torn to pieces and said pieces began to crawl away like worms.

Luz flew down to the ground and a crown suddenly appeared on her head.

King: And there you have it, folks. A glorious beat down for this year's Grom. Let's give a big hand to our Grom Queen, Luz Noceda!

He said as the crowd cheers for Luz, lifting her off the ground as Luz smiled and laughed.

Eda: Geez, had me worried there for a second.

Everyone returned to school gym as Principal Bump taps a microphone.

Principal Bump: And now, students, it's time for the official Grom Dance. We've already witnessed an amazing performance this evening, but we remain true to our traditions. Miss Noceda, as Grom Queen, you may choose your dance partner.

Luz looks around a bit before walking up to a certain girl she knows.

Luz: May I have this dance, Amity?

Amity blushed.

Amity: Y-You want to dance with me?

Luz: Why not, right?

She says with a smile, Amity smiled as well, taking Luz's hand as they headed to the gym's center.

They and everyone else started dancing with their Grom dates as the music started playing.

Luz: Told you I got this.

Amity: Yeah, well, you did hesitate with your fear. So who is this Adam, anyway?

Luz: Remember when I told you I got my powers from a wizard?

Amity: Yes?

Luz: Well, Adam's a human that used to be the wizard's champion. But he got corrupted by the power and turned his back on the wizard. And after a long, hard fought battle, the wizard managed to imprison Adam in a box and hid it in another realm. Which I assume is somewhere in the Boiling Isles? But the wizard didn't make it clear.

Amity: And you're his replacement and the only one who can stop him when he breaks free?

Luz: Something like that. But honestly . . . I'm kinda hoping Adam doesn't get free at all.

Amity: Well, you shouldn't worry so much. Even if Adam's too much for you, I'm sure everyone will have your back. I'll have your back.

Luz smiles.

Luz: Thanks Amity.

She says as the two continued their dance.

Some time later, Luz posed for a picture. She then brings in Amity, Willow & Gus for a group photo.

Soon enough, it was time for Luz to go as she said her goodbyes to Willow, Gus & Amity before leaving with Eda & King.

They then made it to the Owl House as Luz changed into her pajamas, slumping onto her bed.

She then texts her mother before heading off to sleep.
