As a child my mother would tell me these stories of a prince, born of land and sea, who was meant to unit the two rivalling kingdoms. I remember the stories so well they always seem like more than just fairytale.

FLASH BACK TO 13 YEARS AGO

"mommy, mommy look what I can do", Perseus says showing his mother watching as her face flashes with fear and panic.

"Perseus stop that come now"

"but-" he tries

"no into the house I told you not to go into the water" she exclaims and pulls the whimpering boy towards the house.

it was for his own good, if anyone found out abo-no she couldn't think like that she had a son to protect.

Perseus pouts and looks back at the ocean form beyond the window, it was calling him, he could feel it but he doesn't know why.

"mommy why can't I get to go in the water like the other kids"

Sirena sighs she knew this was coming sooner or later, "baby come here let me tell you a story"

"YAYYYYY" Perseus screams and stumbles over his feet as he crawls into his mother lap.

"Long ago lived a king, a very mighty king but he was also of great courage and honor. He believed in fairness so when he passed away he left his kingdom in the hands of both his sons. For a long time the brothers ruled the seas together but one day while patrolling the eldest came a cross the most beautiful surface creature he had ever seen with long platinum hair and obsidian eyes he had mistaken her for a goddess.

After that day he continuously snuck out to see her and each day they grew closer.

one day his younger brother got curious and decided to follow him.

he say his brother and the filthy human kissing he was enraged and thought his brother was no longer fit to rule beside him so he devised a plan to get rid of him.

he tricked his brother into turning his tail into human legs and while his brother ventured to the surface to see the love of his life he tried to take over the seven seas.

"what's sex" Perseus chimes leaning into his mother

"um .a ///////issomethingyoudowhenyoureallylovesomeone" she rushes out hoping he would drop the topic but he didn't

"I WANNA SEXT YOU MOMMY" Perseus perks up to look at his mother with wide innocent eyes

"Ummmmmm As I was saying- they laid on the beach just before a woman emerged from the water running to her king she told him of his brother plans.

stuck between his lover and his kingdom he was forced to put his kingdom before his happiness and goes back to the sea to battle his brother for the throne"

"the end"

"what!", Perseus pipped up from his mothers lap "that can't be the end"

resting her son the couch Sirena ventures to the kitchen for a snack

"mommmmm finish the story" he whines looking longing through the window

"it's finished" she counters while making two sandwiches.

" well I don't like it what happened to the girl and the brothers and that mysterious lady that emerged from the sea"

"well", she starts taking a bite from one of the sandwiches "legend says that the gods were so angered that they separated the seas and gave each brother a kingdom of his own, each got married and while the youngest had a son the eldest married the mysterious lady but never wanted intimate contact with her as she wasn't his love"

"yeah and his lover", Perseus says looking at his mother as she emerges from the kitchen.

placing a plate in front of her son she continues ,"she did the impossible, she bore a child of both land and sea stronger than any merman ever born"

"wow what's his name" Perseus asks chewing his food slowly

"Perseus"

"THAT'S MY NAME" Perseus giggles happily

"yes baby"

Perseus finishes his food before running out to play in the garden in front of his house looking at the window he gestures to his mother to come outside. Sirena smiled her platinum hair falling into her obsidian eyes as she stared at the sea longing before whispering

"but Perseus was doomed because in order to merge the two kingdoms together he must venture to the deep blue sea to give his life because only the blood of land and sea will serve as a sacrifice"
