Chapter 6

One week had passed since the meeting that brought the clans together.  Since then, the three leaders and two co-leaders began to form friendships anew.  Hikari, Madara, and Hashirama picked up where they left off in their childhood friendship.  Izuna and Tobirama tried their best to get along, yet occasionally still bumped heads.  Madara requested that Izuna and Hashirama be his best men.

Having lost her four younger sisters during the massive war, Hikari wasn't sure who to have be her maid of honor and her matrons.  She asked Akari to be her maid of honor, and she happily accepted.  All that was left was finding people to be her matrons.  One of them could be Asuna Uchiha.  Maybe one of the Senju women she got to know would also be a matron.  That's all Hikari could think of.

She picked up the photo of her sisters and herself playing together.  She had promised that she would always protect them, no matter what...but she failed.  Wen the time came for her to leave this earth, how could she face them?  A sigh escaped her, catching Akari's attention as she helped her into the wedding kimono.

"Something wrong?" she questioned.  Hikari rubbed her arm.

"I'm just a little...nervous," she explained.  It was halfway true, she was nervous, but she didn't want to say the true reason either.  Akari smiled kindly at her, giving a reassuring pat on the back.

A knock sounds on the door of her room soon afterwards, bringing their attention to it.  "Come in," Hikari called as Akari continued fixing her hair.  Itsuki walked in and closed the door behind him, turning to see Hikari standing before him.

Her wedding kimono was white with many intricate designs woven into it with the traditional Uchiha navy blue thread.  Her hair was finally finished, placed in a top bun with a diadem in front of it.  To complete the look, a pearl choker was placed on her neck and a ruby red heart charm hung in the middle of it.  He felt the wind knocked out of him at the sight.  It was almost as if seeing his wife on their own wedding day all of those years ago.

He snapped out of his thoughts when Hikari cleared her throat.  Akari had left the room by now to give them some time alone before the wedding.  Walking to stand next to her, Itsuki smiled and placed a hand on her cheek.  "You look so much like your mother.  She would be so proud of you," he whispered.  The two embraced as Hikari thanked her father several times over.  When they let go of each other, Itsuki held his arm out to her.  "Shall we?"
-------------------------------------------
Madara stood in front of a large mirror, trying his best to get more comfortable.  Honestly, were their ancestors so pathetically dim-witted to think these traditional clothes were important to wear for a wedding?  It was far too heavy and hot for Madara's taste, not to mention the fact that it hindered his movements greatly.  The navy blue haori and hakamas felt as if they weighed a ton.  Izuna stifled a chuckled as Hashirama gave him a sympathetic look.

"Why?  Why were our ancestors so foolish!?  How could they possibly stand these clothes!?" Madara roared angrily.

Izuna could no longer stifle his laughter and let it flow freely, earning a threatening glare from his brother.  Hashirama, on the other hand, was trying to keep Madara from doing something he might regret.

Wiping the tears away and calming himself, Izuna clapped his brother on the back with a grin.  "My apologies, big brother, but you are far from taking those off today," he explained jovially, enjoying the torment he was able to bestow upon Madara.

"What do you mean?"

Izuna smirked wickedly, enjoying the one and only time he would be able to tease his brother.  "After the wedding, you and Hikari must accept gifts and wishes from everyone and stay for the festivities since they are being thrown in your honor.  You'll be in these clothes for the entire day, most likely," he explained a little too joyously.

Madara shrugged as he seethed.  This would be the one and only time Izuna could poke fun at him.  This just means Madara must return it ten-fold.  "And I'm sure you'll enjoy some alone time with Asuna today," he whispered into Izuna's ear, making the poor boy blush beet red.  "French tomato," he muttered to himself, hearing Hashirama chuckle behind him.

Madara's good friend placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.  "If it'll make you feel better, I may have to deal with the same attire sometime soon.  Come on now, let's get you out to the altar before your wife can beat you there."

The three of them swiftly made it outside to the garden where the altar lay in wait for the happy couple.  Madara stood to the side with his chest puffed out in pride.  Tajima, on the other hand, looked to be hiding his livid temper to the best of his abilities.  His wife looked indifferent, though the smile could be seen in her eyes.

Only mere minutes later did Hikari come out on Itsuki's arm, looking absolutely radiant in his eyes.  She looked as if a kind of glow surrounded her as she walked down the aisle.  When she reached the altar--much to Madara's appreciation to help him control himself--the ceremony finally began.

"We are gathered here today to witness the union of Lord Madara Uchiha and Lady Hikari Karoshi in holy matrimony," the patriarch spoke nasally.  Madara cringed inwardly at his voice.  So this was the friend of Hashirama's that he recommended to marry them?  This was absolute rubbish in his eyes, he knew someone that he could actually understand who had a normal speaking voice that could've done it much better.

Hikari smiled at Madara, who returned it with a smirk of his own.  "Do you, Madara, take this woman as your wife?  To have and to hold?  To honor, cherish, and love for all eternity?"

"I do," Madara quickly responded, wishing to get this over with quickly.  The patriarch then turned to Hikari.

"Do you, Hikari, take this man as your husband?  To have and to hold?  To honor, cherish, and love for all eternity?" he repeated to her.

"I do."

"Present the rings!" he childishly declared.  Tobirama approached with a pillow that held the rings upon it.  "If anyone objects to this union, let them speak now or forever hold their piece."  Madara threw a sharp glare to the clan elders and his father, effectively silencing the elders.  His father was not swayed in the slightest, but begrudgingly held his tongue for Madara's sake.  "Then I now pronounce you husband and wife.  You may kiss the bride."

Madara smirked.  He would have no problem with that.  Pulling the blushing Hikari to his chest softly, he quickly pressed his lips to her in a passionate kiss.  The kiss practically radiated of a "touch her and you'll die" vibe, especially when it came to the more lustful men in all of the clans.  Cheers erupted from the crowd and the couple pulled away for air.  As much as Madara would love spending the day with Hikari, it would absolutely ruin his mood having to spend it with so many people.  Large crowds were never his forte.
