Chapter Ten
Virgil hesitantly walked downstairs, putting his hood on. It had been a while since he had gone downstairs. But he was thirsty and didn't want to bug Roman, so he walked into the kitchen and grabbed a cup. He filled it with water and suddenly heard the TV's volume increase.
"Damien Burns and Thomas Sanders broke out of L.A. Prison earlier this morning. If you have seen these two males, please contact the police immediately, for they are very dangerous individuals."
Virgil froze, his eyes widening. Deceit had broken out of prison. And Thomas, too? He never even knew Thomas was arrested. He dropped the cup, the glass shattering as he began to shake. Roman and Patton heard the glass shattering, causing Roman to stand and dart to the kitchen. He hadn't heard Virgil come downstairs, yet he knew he heard the TV. He walked in, seeing Virgil curled up on the floor abd breathing heavily. Roman gasped, getting down next to him. He hugged him tightly, Virgil gripping his shirt.
"Baby baby, it's okay," Roman said in a calm tone. "Nothing is gonna happen to you. I won't allow it. Not again". Virgil whined as he buried his face in his shoulder, shaking uncontrollably. How? How could he not predict this? Deceit had the power to control minds and seem like other people. How did he not see this coming?!
"Virgil, do your breathing exercises," Roman demanded calmly. "Breath in for four, hold for four, breath out for four". Virgil shakily nodded, taking a shaky breath for four seconds. He held it in for another four, and then let it our. He continued the process until he stopped shaking, Roman rubbing his back the whole time.
"I'll protect you," Roman whispered to him. "I won't let him get to you, I swear upon my life." Virgil nodded, hiding his face in Roman's shoulder. Roman kissed his head, bringing a faint smile to Virgil's lips. He began to feel safe. Safer than ever. He knew Roman wouldn't let anything get to him.
