Nico quickly hopped out of the passenger seat in his dad's car. He ran into the door of the large building only stopping to check in at the front desk. He ran straight up several stairs, his heart beating like crazy. He burst through another door, stopping at the small bed inside the room. He broke down, starting to sob. He hadn't wanted to believe it when Kayla had texted him. He had demanded his dad, who happened to be home, drive him to see. But here he was.

Will. His light, joy, and sunshine, lying unconscious on the hospital bed in front of him. No matter what he tried, the tears wouldn't stop. He relied on Will for so much. Seeing him lying like this, was too much for him. Nico started to flashback. He wasn't there when his sister got hit, but he could imagine it. A dark road. Nighttime, as it was ideal to hunt. His sister listened to music, driving down the road as she normally did.

A car without its headlights on, blazing down the road at 60 miles an hour. His sister tries to get away, but she couldn't he hits the side of her car, sending her spinning off, the car flipping onto its head. His sister was hurt, but not yet unconscious. She calls the emergency services, but by the time they get there, she's unconscious. A knock on the door. His dad answers it.

His mood goes from happy to tragic in a matter of seconds. He doesn't even bother to say anything to the police officer at the door, shutting it in his face. He pulls on his coat, telling Nico to get into the car. Nico can tell his dad is trying not to cry. He asks his dad what's wrong, where are they going.

"We're going to see your sister." That's all he says. Nico was only ten at the time, but he knew that something was wrong with his sister. His dad wouldn't be so concerned otherwise. They get to the hospital, the same one that Nico is at now. They get directed to the same floor, the same room even.

Hades bursts into the room, rushing to see his daughter. She's unconscious. Hades sits there. Waiting. He refuses to move, to eat, to drink. He just sits there waiting. Nico tries to wake his sister up. He's devastated when he can't. A nurse asks if his mom can take him home. Nico shakes his head.

They end up calling his dad's lawyer, and Nico's tutor Alecto to watch him for the night. The next morning, she still wasn't awake. She didn't wake up. That afternoon they got the confirmation. Bianca was dead.

The man who did it, Talos, was brought to court by Hades. He gets out of prison this year. Only 6 years. Not nearly enough. Hades pushed for more, but even Alecto couldn't do that. Hades became distraught. He stopped talking to Nico. Nico, in a time where he needed everybody, had nobody.

Now history was repeating itself. Here was Will, lying in the same bed for the same reason. Reckless driving. All Nico can do is hope. Hope to God that Will survives.

He starts singing. He starts singing a song his sister so often sang to him. He sings soft, the lyrics punctuated by his tears.

"You are my sunshine. My only sunshine. You make me happy. When skies are gray. You'll never know how. Much I love you."

He chokes up. The tears come fast and hard now. "Please." He rasps. "Please don't take. My sunshine. Away." He buries his head into Will's chest, crying.
