Chapter one

How would it feel to feel loved? Would it feel true and pure like everyone says it does? Does it ever have flaws? And what happens when you begin to love, but don't know how it's supposed to feel? To have it just beyond your grasp, and you can't have it because the one you love, loves another. This is the life story of Draco Malfoy.

The war had been over for about a month now, and all Draco wanted was peace from the wizarding world. Unfortunately that only left the Muggles to go to. Not believing what he was doing, he apparated to a movie theater knowing nobody would notice him in the dark and he wouldn't have to talk to anyone.

He appeared in front of a fancy building, with bright white Christmas light bulbs surrounding a sign saying "the cinema". Draco had no idea why anybody would have Christmas lights in the middle of summer, but shrugged to himself. Muggles had never made much sense. He entered the theater and there were many lines in front of the cashiers.

"Can I have a ticket for the next movie that's about to start?" Draco asked smoothly as he walked up to the counter, completely ignoring the complaining lines next to him, and ran a careless hand through his white-blond hair.

"Sure. You'll be seeing The Greatest Showman. That'll be $7.50." The man nodded. Draco payed and received the tiny ticket. Not knowing what to do, he looked around and saw someone collecting the tickets so he walked in that direction. He handed the ticket to the woman who was collecting them. She tore off half of it before giving it back, and pointed to a room at the very end of a long hallway.

Why would she only take half of it? It's not like I'm going to forget what movie I'm seeing in the few seconds it's going to take me to get in. Muggles. Draco shook his head to himself and entered the dimly lit room. It was pretty sizable and he chose a seat at the top right. The movie was starting and he settled back to get comfortable. Many other people were in the room with him so he hoped it would be a good one.

Draco zoned out and thought about the thing most on his mind at the moment. Hermione Granger. The witch had caught his eye from the day he saw her but of course she had to be a muggleborn. He knew his parents would disown him if he even talked to her, so good riddance they're both currently locked up in Azkaban. Hermione used to date Weaselbee but he broke it off with her and married Lavender Brown instead. He was such a thick head.

Draco's attention turned back to the movie and he watched silently trying to remember what was happening. Yeah yeah child love and you get married and are happy whatever. What really caught his eye was the Phillip guy and his liking of Anne. It reminded him of his current situation with Hermione. Eventually they ended up in a scene and he started singing to her.

"You know I want you. It's not a secret I try to hide. I know you want me. So don't keep saying our hands are tied.

You claim it's not in the cards. But fate is pulling you miles away and out of reach from me. But you're here in my heart so who can stop me if I decide that you're my destiny?

What if we rewrite the stars? Say you were made to be mine. Nothing can keep us apart. You'd be the one I was meant to find.

It's up to you. And it's up to me. No one can say what we get to be. So why don't we rewrite the stars? Maybe the world could be ours. Tonight." Draco mulled over the words and repeated them again and again in his head.

It was all so true. Except Hermione didn't know Draco wanted her. Is that what he had to do? He only waited until the end to make sure they got together in the end and he wasn't about to make a complete fool of himself. Who knew muggle movies could actually teach you something?

Hermione and Draco were civil and he owled her occasionally. She gave him her address for some reason or another he made up, so he sent her flowers to spruce up her table. Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes and apparated to her apartment.

"Hermione?" Draco knocked on the tan colored door softly. His heart was threatening to beat out of his chest in anticipation. Movement could be heard from behind the door and she opened it.

"Draco. Why are you here? Are you alright?" She asked concerned.

"I need to talk to you." Draco said quickly. Slightly confused, Hermione opened the door wider and gestured for him to come in.

"Is something wrong?" Hermione asked once he settled onto the couch.

"Not exactly. But I have to tell you something." All of a sudden he felt self conscious and ran a hand through his hair. He tended to do that when he didn't know what to do.

"What is it?"

"Well. I've been thinking about it for a long time. It's been on my mind a lot and I've wanted to do something about it for the longest time. I just came out from watching a muggle movie called The Greatest Showman and-"

"That movie was so good!" She cut him off. "Phillip was pretty stuck up at first but his heart thawed and now him and Anne are going to live happily ever after." Hermione had no idea how much Draco wished that to be them. "What was it you wanted to ask me?" Her eyes were gleaming with curiosity. There was no backing out now.

"I've never told you this but I like you and always have since our first year. For the longest time I've been afraid of what the world would think of me if I dated a muggleborn but this movie helped me realize it doesn't matter. No one else matters but us. So what do you think Hermione?" Draco's voice was barely a whisper now. "Can we rewrite the stars?"
