The 8th of December was the start of a new week, a Monday, so John Lennon was on his way to the studio to lay down more tracks for his album and put finishing touches to the other tracks that were completed the previous week.

He traveled to the studio with his over bearing wife.

He was choked with rules and constraints.

He was a shadow of the man he once was.

A man who ruled the world with his band-mates in The Beatles, sweeping music and cultural revolutions in their wake.

Just turned 40.

He should have been in the prime of his life yet here he was pandering to her every whim. Being a yes man to her demanding ways.

Like a serpent curled around him. Constricting him, killing him slowly.

As always, fans stood huddled on the sidewalk outside of the building John lived in- The Dakota.

And, as always, John made time to sign as much as he could and say hello to them all too.

One of Manhattan's most prestigious buildings, The Dakota towered.

Overlooking the iconic Central Park... beautiful views, but not much chance for John to ever roam there. Fans stalked the man into the ground.

One fan would still be at the Dakota that night.

Waiting.

Lurking in the darkness.

Earlier, Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for that fan, now known by name - Chapman.

That same 'fan' was about to commit a vile and horrid crime.

Musician, John Lennon,
was shot 4 times.

Beatles Founder, and Solo Recording Artist, John Lennon was gunned down in front of his home, the Dakota Building, located opposite Central Park, late today.

Lennon, 40, was taken to the emergency room of Roosevelt Hospital via police vehicle, such was the urgency of care required.

Mister Lennon is RECOVERING.

....Sources say he is expected to be released early next week.
