Chapter 8 Bitter
Footsteps creep down the hallway as I keep my eyes locked on the door. The door opens as I see a very familiar figure stand a couple of feet away from" me. His hair is brown and is perfectly spiked. His brown eyes look me up and down his lips in a straight line. I lean against my couch, my arms firmly against my chest as my eyes darken.
"Elias," he says his tone is flat.
"Elijah." I state back.
"What are you planning against my family?" Elijah ask putting his hands on his hips.
"Rebekah told you I suppose.Do you really think I would tell you what I'm planning against your family?" I quiz, with a laugh.
"No Elias but I could make you tell me." Elijah warns crinkling his eyes at me.
"I bet you could. But I'm not here for Rebekah or you. I'm actually here for Klaus." I tell him moving into my kitchen.
"Why Kla-" Elijah goes to say but I quickly cut him off.
"Because he murdered my family." I heatedly shout at him.
"He wasn't the one that actually killed them. It was your brotherhood you're so called unity." Elijah snaps back.
I lean into the counter. "No but he told them everything. Because of his stupid jealousy between me and Rebekah." I yell, snapping my head up to meet his eyes.
"Klaus has issues I get it. Trust me I spent a thousand years with him." Elijah begins, "But he's changed I promise you that."
"Changed?" I laugh, "Klaus will always be a monster, you can't change that about him."
"You hurt my family in any way you won't have to worry about Klaus." Elijah sternly points at me.
"Is that a promise?" I ask pushing all of his buttons.
"Don't push me Elias it won't be very pretty."
"Oh but I like this. Can you really change a person that has damaged so many different people. Elijah, Klaus killed how many people you loved? And what about a Rebekah? And all the daggering he has done to you and your siblings. Can you really help him?" I tell him.
"People can change, even Klaus. Look at your father." Elijah says, shooting me a look.
"Do not speak of him." I snarl, at Elijah.
"Did I hit a nerve?" Elijah ask, tilting his head to the side.
"He was a great man your father. He even trusted my family and I. But he could be vicious and cruel. He did after all kill one of his own." Elijah reminds me.
I bow my head down as anger rises through my veins. I grip onto the side of the granite counter top putting all my anger into it. After a couple of minutes I let go, and slam Elijah into the red brick wall. I put my hand on his neck applying as much pressure as I can.
"I remember everything." I say, my eyes turning darker then normal.
"Of course you do. You and your friend Aden helped killed one of your own for being in love with a vampire. Very ironic if you ask me. That you're father trusted and talk to vampires not any vampires my family. Yet he had that poor kid killed. If I remember correctly he was one of your friends?" Elijah tells me, as he shoves me off of him.
Flashback
I walk down the tunnel along with Aden by my side. Cold radiates off of the concrete walls as we make are way towards the main meeting room. I fix my long black jacket along with my hood shooting Aden a smirk.
"How's Rebekah?" Aden ask, giving me a wink.
I shake my head. "She's great."
"She's great? That's all you're going to give me?" Aden ask, giving me a look.
"Fine, we're doing good. It's been five months and Klaus still hasn't scared me off. I think she's the one." I tell him as we turn a corner.
"The one? I never thought I would see the day come when Elias Perro found a girl for him the one." He says excitedly grabbing a hold of my shoulder.
"Shut up." I playfully say shoving him a way from me.
"Why should I? My best friend found the one. She's totally got under you're skin." He adds on, as we turn another corner.
I stop in the middle of the tunnel turning to look at him. I cross my arms against my chest. He turns around to look at me stopping on his tracks. He gives me a look raising an eyebrow at me.
"What?" Eden ask, confusion filling his words.
"I'm completely and utterly in love with the enemy." I reply, biting my lower lip.
"Elias," Aden whispers, "You can't help who you fall in love with. It's a part of life, it's helps keeps us human."
"What would the unity think?" I challenge. "They would take everything from me. Along with my family."
"Your dad's the leader." Aden says a bright smile appearing on his face. "The unity can suck it. Mate nobody's going to find out."
"The unity knows everything. If they don't find out now they will soon enough." I express walking past him and towards our destinations.
"I promise you I won't say a word. You're my best mate, I would never turn my back on you." Aden reassures me.
I pat his shoulder giving him a weak smile. I open the heavy wooden door that stands in front of us. Men stand in multiple rows as Aden and I squeeze past them. I notice my father talking to Ashby his tone is like a block of ice, cold and bitter. Aden turns to look at our brothers, they stand straight their eyes on one spot my father and Ashby. My father glance over to me his eyes are dark and his expression tells all.
"Elias, Aden, Marcus!" My father commands.
We step forward, our eyes locked onto my father. We stand still, all in a line.
"Ashby has betrayed us. He's been with the enemy all this time. He must be taught sever lesson. Come forward." My father voice booms through the large room.
We all step forward, I glance at Aden and Marcus they look at me. We all know the fate of Ashby, and what is going to take place in the next couple of seconds. He's my friend and what we're going to do I don't think I can. Three men come out from the back of the room, their loud steps echo through the room. They hand us each a mallet, it's heavy as we step around Ashby making a triangle.
I hold onto the mallet gripping it. I look down at it, pain fills my chest as my father yells begin. Aden and Marcus make the first blow, Ashby cries out in pain as the pain begins to radiate in me. They continue to hit him with their mallets, blood pours from every cut the mallet had made on his body. I look at Ashby his eyes are filled with sadness as I tilt my head at him. I pull back and make a powerful blow into his chest.
Ashby falls to his knee and I continue to pound into him with the mallet. I pull back before giving him a look, my eyes fill with sadness as I see him shake his head saying it's okay. I hit him with the mallet putting all of my strength into it putting him out of his misery. Blood drips down my face as Ashby body hits the concrete floor his blood seeping into the cold floor.
I look up at my father, my hands trembling in the process as Ashby blood begins to stand my hands. I pick up Ashby cross necklace and hold it in my hand. I step towards my father anger boiling in my blood. His face expression is calm.
"Lesson will learned father." I bitterly tell him.
"Elias," He states.
I turn my back on him my feet picking up the pace as I make my way towards the exit. I feel numb as Ashby screams fill my mind. My father and I our hypocrites. And that is that.
