Busy night made worse
The day had been busy. People had come in and out of the boar hut all night. So there was no time for talking between any of them. Or you know resting for a matter of fact. All that there was time for was work.
Elizabeth sighed sitting down for a single moment looking exhausted. She had been waiting tables all day. Soon Diane, who was thankfully short again thanks to the last of Merlin's spells. She had been doing the same as well and looked ready to die from exhaustion. Hawk had finished eating scraps so he was his napping on the floor. Gowther meanwhile looked normal. After all he never got tired or at least never looked tired. Ban in the kitchen meanwhiel was just, nervous for some reason. Meliodas didn't know why but, all he knew was that everyone was tired.
Thankfully they would be closing soon. Unfortunately, they were drunk off their asses. So as you could guess they weren't leaving anytime soon. Instead one had passed out near the door. The others were trying their hardest to stand and drunkenly laughing as they tried to leave.
"Geez... this town is full of light weights." Meliodas joked getting a tired giggle from Elizabeth. Everyone just was to tired to even smile. So, needless to say Meliodas just walked over to the two other males.
"Okay guys hat to be a bother but, you gotta go." Meliodas sighed walking over to the two other males. The drunkest one stood up trying to leave but, ended up falling over his friend. Meliodas sighed looking down at the two passed out male's before grabbing them by their collars, dragging them out. He dragged them all they way to town before leaving. Thankfully it was a nice night so, he didn't mind a short walk.
He hummed a bit walking, arms resting behind his head. As he walked his eyes landed upon the stars. It looked like the sky was filled with fireflies that didn't move. The moons only made everything look better by shining a bright shade of orange. Just seeing it made Meliodas glad he had lived this long. Long enough to see beautiful things like this. Speaking of which, another one of those beautiful things would be Elizabeth. Look up at the night sky made him think of what she would say looking up at a pretty night sky like this.
Yet, as he walked her voice became more prominent. It also seemed as if she was discussing a completely different topic. And he could his also hear his friend's voices too. Slowly Meliodas came to a stop near the boar hut. He was just a few feet from the hut and could hear what he was saying to her.
"I...I don't think we should tell him in a big group.l...I mean this is a private matter...one of us should discuss it with him just so he doesn't get embarrassed." Elizabeth's voice spoke up.
"Elizabeth what are friends for other than to tell him we're here for him." Diane spoke up. "Besides we don't know what will happen if we tell him about his break down...he might turn into that demon form he did when we took back Lionas a few weeks ago. He could end up hurting some people."
"Ban handled himself around him a few days later...why doesn't he just tell him alone?"
"That's because Ban is an asshole. I mean no offence Ban but, sometimes you can be really insensitive." King sighed.
"None taken..."
"But you know you should stay close incase he..breaks again." Diane spoke up again.
"Guys it's the Captain. He's handled so much worse. I mean for fucks sake he watched his sister die in front of him...and he's probably been through worse shit than anyone else here has for all we know. He's not a sissy. So why are we dancing around the issue?"
"Did Ban last time we tried to discuss her with him...well you saw how broken he was...how scared he got...he just kept going on that he was so sorry and he didn't know any of us were there...he scratched up his own arm while he slept and we all heard him scream in his sleep sometimes. I don't think he wants to remember it happened."
"If worse comes to worse I'll calm him down again..he can handle it."
Meliodas just froze listening to the voice but, they just became muffled in his ears. All he did was stand there and bite his lip, no longer cheerful as ever. His usual smile turned into a frown that kept getting bigger. They knew. They knew everything!
They knew he watched her die! They knew she died because he was weak! They all knew about the year where the curse wasn't working! They knew about his worst day! They knew! They knew! They knew!
That was all he could think as his heart beat sped up. His breathing got uneaten as tears sprung to his eyes. The misery he as been hiding for days, since the memory resurfaced, started to bubble to his face. He started to sniffle as he tried to calm himself down as his mind continued to race. He only got worse before hearing Diane.
"Does anyone else hear someone crying?"
Meliodas quickly gulped down his feelings and wiped away his tears. He took a deep breath calming down a bit. Then he just faked his cheery smile as he walked towards the tavern. He smiled pushing open the door pretending to be happy as ever. Yet, his past failures replayed in his head again and again as he looks dover his friends.
"Hey guys...What did I miss?" He asks.
"Captain why are your eyes red? Are you okay?" Diane asked.
"What? Oh yeah I'm fine. My eyes have just been itchy all day...what were you guys talking about?" Meliodas asked. His friend all looked at each other. They all just seemed frozen before finally Elizabeth spoke up.
"Sir Meliodas, a few days ago when we were in-...Excuse miss but, we're closed." Elizabeth began looking behind him. Meliodas turned around and froze seeing an oracle. She stood there grinning before digging a knife out of her back pocket.
"Oh I know..We're here for something else." She smiled as two other women walked in.
"And what would that be?"
"To end that horrid demons life." She smiled before charging right at Meliodas.
