Review for Fayn

Note: There are spoilers beyond this point! Do not read further if you don't like spoilers. If you like spoilers, or just want to see if this is worth reading (hint: it is) then please feel free to continue.

*******************************

<> Overview <>

This story takes place where Sauron has reclaimed the Ring of power and Gandalf and friends are in need of help. Knowing of only one creature who is powerful enough to stop the Dark Lord, they set out to find the mysterious creature, Fayn.

This was actually the first fanfic I ever read on Wattpad and I loved it!

<> Plot <>

The Dark Lord is ruling once more and the Fellowship is desperate to find a way to defeat him. Gandalf knows of only one such being more powerful than even himself who could do it, but she hasn't been seen in ages; her name is Fayn.

Fayn is a creature with bluish-green skin and she is the protector of many realms, not just Middle Earth. She is away in another realm when she feels a disturbance that troubles her greatly.

We see some different creatures that she's been helping that (in my mind at least) remind me of the Ents; Fayn has been fighting with them for some time to push back a poisonous race that was trying to take over.

She then goes to Middle Earth to help them in their fight against Sauron.

That's the gist of it, but the plotline is so unique and different that it drew me in right away. I loved how it diverged from the overdone look at the Fellowship and Third Age stories revolving around them. The writing draws you in, captivates you, and leaves you wanting so much more. I didn't want it to end! I wanted to see more of Fayn and read of her travels. I'll keep my fingers crossed in the hopes that more will come someday.

<> Character Growth <>

This is a little trickier to nail down for the simple fact I felt like there wasn't enough time for substantial growth in Fayn. There was some innocence that was lost in her, a flicker of hope that was snuffed out, then rekindled.

Her character, in general, was fascinating, and I could see her fitting right in with Tolkien's works without too much effort. She's probably one of the more creative characters I've stumbled across.

<> Overall <>

This story is worth a read and it won't take super long to get through it. Sitting at only eighteen chapters, it's compact but packs a wonderful amount of vision. I've no doubt that you will read through this and have it added to your favorites list in no time!
