The story opens on an ominous note with a super baddie who apparently is worse than Sauron. Based on what we just came through in Return of the Shadow you may find yourself thinking, "Pah! Can't be any worse than all that!"

Well, you're wrong. It does get worse, more people die, and you find yourself dialing the number to your therapist.

Carrying over the feels from the last two books, this plot pulls you into the character's lives in a way few people have managed to pull off well. This is especially true because they are not happy feelings, which I find to be easier to write in most cases.

<> Character Growth <>

<> Legolas: This poor dude. He's been killed, tortured, beaten, enslaved, scared, and a good many other things at this point. By now you're rooting for him to die just so he can relax for a while! 

But, even when he does end up in the Undying Lands, he's restless and cannot find the peace he so desperately longs for. This is because everyone else is dead, and all he wants is to be together with them all again.

The saddest thing about this book is the fact that after everything he has gone through in his long life; all of the pain and suffering he endured; he decides to make a choice that is more heartbreaking than anything you have read up until this point. Which is saying quite a lot if you've actually read the books.

<> Overall Story <>

This trilogy is one of the best fanfics I have ever read on Wattpad and I highly recommend you take the time to read it. It's from a very different perspective, the characters you know are not the ones you think you know and the new characters are so memorable that you will enjoy them thoroughly!

This is the conclusion of the initial trilogy but there are two others that are a part of this world. The prequel is Fading Light which shows what happened to Legolas when he was younger as talked about in the trilogy. Amarth takes place after the events of this trilogy and it freaken amazing.
