So. . . today's interview is with another of my favorite wattpad writers! I love her books so much and she is Eddy622

A: Full name is Akpan Edidiong..

Q: Nickname/pen name/ Pseudonym

A: Eddy... Most people call me that though it sounds like a boy's name.

Q: Age/Birthdate.

A: Was born on the 9th of July.

Q: Nationality and State of Origin.

A: Akwa-Ibom.

Q: Where do you stay?

A: Okay... I'm based in Lagos.

Q: When did you start writing in general?

A: Ah...Funny...I think 4??? I had this best friend, a guy. So back then he usually made this book with papers, where you tear the edges and shape it into a small book.

So when he does that, I'd usually draw a character and write a story under that character. It was nonsense, but fun.

C: Lmaoo. Wow! That was pretty early.

C: Lol.... I said it was nonsense 💔💔

Q: Why do you write?

A: At first back then, I just wrote because I felt like writing. But when I was in SS2, I wrote this story for an English essay and the teacher praised me a lot in front of the class so I thought of making it full (Actually writing a story based on that.)

Once I was done, my classmates were eager to read and were taking turns till I actually lost that book... Lol.

The main point is... I really liked their smiles whenever they talked about a character and it made me so happy. So I write to bring smiles to my readers' faces and to make them escape reality.

C: Aww... that's sweet.

Q: When did you start writing on wattpad?

A: 2019....was bored as hell. I had wattpad on my phone but wasn't using it. It was just an extra app occupying space. So I thought of doing something with my acc.

Q: How many books have you published on wattpad?

A: Four: C.R.U.S.H and then the Blossom High School Series (It has three books.)

Q: Next question: Your first ever story?

A: If this is a general question like off wattpad, it will be very difficult to answer 💔 I can't remember the first book I've written.

Q: Okay then. Your favorite stories out of all the stories you've written?

A: Beneath the surface... That's actually the book I was talking about.. The one I wrote in SS2... To be honest, I like it more than the books I've written on Wattpad. And I'm planning to bring it to the platform.

On Wattpad, it would be.. THE WRONG GIRL  and BEING YOU.. Both are part of the BHSS (Blossom High School Series.)

Q: Your book(s) what inspired them?

A: C.R.U.S.H was inspired by a Nigerian music video... A random one. I was sitting with my Dad in the parlor and we had the TV tuned to Africa  Magic. They were done with a movie and the next was a music video. In the MV, a guy was singing to his maid and she was making his bed and stuff... Yada yada yada, he fell for her so I though of a story with that plot.

For THE WRONG GIRL,  we know Highschool musical... Right? Gabriella and Sharpay both liked Troy but Troy ended up with Gabriella. After that I watched another movie that Sharpay acted, it was like a sequel to HSM, since she had the same name and everything(and was also the protagonist). So in this other movie, her life continued, she ended up having a love interest. So I thought of that when doing TWG. Eno got dumped but her life continued with a new interest.

I wish I could say the inspirations for the other two but it's going to be long.

C: Doesn't matter. You can say it. Please continue🥺

C: Okay so for Being You, there's this Chinese movie, 'Make my heart smile'. She pretended to be her sister 'cause her sister got hit by a car and landed in a hospital. So I told my course mate that this was the benefit of having a twin. And she was like, 'so if I have a twin and she's haunted I'll die in her place bah?' I don't know the kind of brain I have, but I find stories in every little thing happening in my life. Her words caught my attention and I turned it into one. Thank God it had good reactions from the readers 'cause I thought the story line was messed up.

For Blossom High School (Last book of BHSS), I have this friend, Daniel(maybe that's the reason I named a character that name but with an 's') . I won't say he's a friend but he's someone I know. He's a guy with one hand and sometimes unkempt cause of his family background. I've got friends and I hear the mean things they usually say to him behind his back. So because of that, I added a character like that in BHS so I could make his story as the third book. People should not be neglected because of their circumstances.

Q: No probs. Next question: What inspires you to write in general?

A: To be honest, a lot of things inspire me to write. Things like music videos, movies, a real life situation or a normal day discussion. Lol, I said music videos 'cause I'm actually watching something. Listening to music on my phone surprisingly doesn't inspire me. I guess it's because I either dance to it or sing along with the lyrics.

Q:  Ohhhh...wow. What do you hope to achieve through your writing?

A: A lot of things. At first I just wrote because I wanted to. Because I wanted my classmates to be like, 'Eddy wrote that, I'm reading after you.'  you know, the feeling of being popular. But like what my older sister usually says; "people grow pass some certain things." Now, popularity doesn't freak me out.

I want to write to (most importantly) let others escape from reality. They should see my story as a 'safe place'. I also want others to be inspired by it too. Either get inspired by the plot or get inspired to start up a story, even though it isn't on Wattpad.

Another achievement is to get off my lazy ass and edit. That being said, I wish to have my book turned into a paper back. I've got support already from friends and family but I'm holding on first, till I'm done with school which would be (by the grace of God without another strike) next year. Another achievement is to turn BHSS into a TV series.

Sounds big and impossible, but we'll get there.

Q: Do you have any favorite Writers on wattpad and non-wattpad writers? Why'd you like them?

A: Off wattpad is usually diverse and I seem not to read an author's book twice 'cause it's sometimes difficult to find so I don't have a fave writer off wattpad.

On Wattpad, I haven't been reading recently so I can't say for that too. But when I was reading Nigerian wattpad books in the past, I did like Donaldprince, Temi and maramatha's book. I've started reading books again and hope to discover talented Nigerian writers.

Q:  Any favorite wattpad books and non-wattpad books?

A: I have one, F.A.I.T.H by  JoPRBooks it hurts the book isn't completed till this moment. That's by far my most favorite book on Wattpad till date.

Q:How do you cope with writer's block?

A: I just dump the book for a while and give myself a break. That way, when I go back to that work, more ideas would set in.

Q: Where do/did you school and what course are/did you currently studying/study?

A: Schooling at Ambrose Alli University and I'm studying Business Administration.

Q: Would you rather have tea or coffee?

A: Tea. . .I hate coffee.

Q: Favorite food.

A:  Anything goes when you're  FFO (For Food Only.)

Q: Favorite Song(s) and Musician(s)

A:  I don't have a favorite song... It depends on my mood. But I like...American, Nigerian and Kpop songs. Fave Kpop artist, BTS

Q: Other Hobbies.

A: I'm very good at drawing so I do that when I'm bored.

Q: If you had the power to change one thing about the world right now, what would it be?

A: Discrimination. If you noticed, discrimination is an every day reality. People treat others unfairly because of their race, sexuality, gender, age, height and many more I can't mention. This can actually lead to damage of one's mental health and can let an individual do what they aren't supposed to do. If I had the power, I'd stop that. But that's not something that can be stopped, sadly.

Q: Favorite color.

A: Red.

Q: How would you describe your personality?

A: I'm someone who's free with many but I dont do forced friendships. I trust a lot but when that trust gets broken no matter what you do to prove that you've changed, I'd never trust you again.

I mingle a lot, always surrounded with friends but at the same time I act like an introvert so I just concluded I'm an ambivert (If that really exists).

I spend most of my time reading, not novels but school work, though I'm lazy AF. If I'm not reading or hanging out with friends, I'm either on social media or drawing on my sketch pad.

Q: What do you have to say to upcoming writers out there?

A: Be unique... Write in the sense that other readers can differentiate and point out your works even without looking at the author's name. It should be a story that others would never have thought of. It shouldn't seem forced (like you write just to join the writing club). You should write because you want to and because you have the passion for it.

Eddy is a writer who's talent can't go unnoticed. For real. Her books are lit🔥🔥 She's one wattpad author that I've followed and stalked since she started her wattpad journey. . .hehehehe.
