It was a hot day when Gideon pines and Pacifica Southeast arrived in Gravity Falls, the town that would change their lives forever. The bus came to a screeching halt in front of the bus stop. As soon as Gideon and Pacifica exited the bus, it took off faster than a speeding bullet.
            Gideon was wearing dark brown cargo shorts, and a light red t-shirt. Over his shirt he wore a puffy black vest. Gideon had pale complexion and pure white hair that drooped over his forehead. Pacifica wore neon green capris, and a pink t-shirt with a picture of a cat on it. She also wore a purple sweatshirt around her waist.
               "So when do you think your Uncle will be here?" Pacifica asked. Gideon and Pacifica would be staying Gravity falls with Gideon's uncle Bud who ran a tourist trap called the Mystery Shack. Gideon and Pacifica's parents had sent them there for the summer because of a depression that had occurred in Texas.
           Gideon and Pacifica were complete opposites. Pacifica always saw the cup as half full, while Gideon wondered who drank half of his Pitt cola. Pacifica was excited to be in a town where she could have adventures and make new friends, while Gideon was less enthusiastic about staying in a rundown town that wasn't on any maps.
            "He should be here soon" Gideon finally answered. As if on cue a 1969 red Cameron pulled  and honked twice.
            "Hey kids sorry I'm late. I had to finish some business at the shack" Bud said in an apologetic tone.
            "Shotgun!" Pacifica shouted and bolted to the car. Gideon just quietly slid in the back seat, it would be pointless to argue with her.
               The first ten minutes of the ride consisted of Pacifica asking Uncle Bud a million questions while Gideon sat hunched over reading a mystery novel by Agatha Christie. Finally Bud got Pacifica to be quiet for more than five seconds.
                  "So how've you been Gid?" He asked. Gideon looked up from his book only to grumble a quick "fine", before returning to his book. The car pulled up to a beaten, worn down house that had a large sign on the roof which said "Mystery Shack".
                 "This is where we have to stay for the summer?" Gideon whined with a look of disbelief.
                  "Oh don't be like that. Come on it'll be fun!" Pacifica said in a cheery voice while nudging Gideon. Then as if it was planned the S on the "Mystery Shack" sign fell off, so it now read "Mystery Hack".
        "Well come on kids I'm sure you wanna get settled in, so let's go meet everyone" Uncle Bud said as he lead the two inside. The three of them entered what appeared to be a gift shop. Pacifica immediately started bouncing around from merchandise to merchandise. Pacifica seemed particularly interested in the pine tree hat on the racks. Gideon just stood in the doorway judging his new home. He was not impressed with what he saw.
"Alright kids, time to meet the gang" said Uncle Bud. "First up is Melody our cashier" he said pointing to the girl running the cash register. She finished helping a customer check out before turning to Gideon and Pacifica.
"Hey I heard you guys are staying for the summer" she said smiling at the two.
"Yep we just got here today" Pacifica said returning the smile.
"I first arrived in Gravity falls three months ago" Melody told them.
"Wait, you don't live here?" asked Gideon.
"Nope, I actually leave in a week" said Melody.
"Well that's too bad, you seem really nice" said Pacifica in a sad tone. Then a door behind the counter creeped open, and a teenager who looked about 17 years old entered the room. He had neatly combed black hair, and circle rimmed glasses on his zitty face. He was wearing a yellow button up shirt that had blue stripes. In his right breast pocket were two no. 2 pencils. He also wore khaki slacks.
"And this here is Robbie" said Uncle Bud directing his hand to the boy that had just entered the room. "He comes around whenever I have computer problems" Uncle Bud added.
"Which is a lot" said Robbie.
"Oh wow so you must know a lot about computers" said Pacifica jumping over to talk to him.
" Uh yeah, it'd be kinda hard to be a technician if I didn't know anything about computers" said Robbie who seemed flustered at Pacifica being that close to him.
"So do you know how to change the picture on the thingy with all the other thingies on it?" asked Pacifica.
"Do you mean the desktop?" asked Robbie hoping to clarify her question.
"Yeah that's what it's called" said Pacifica, her face brightening after figuring out what a desktop is called.
"Alright there'll be enough time for questions later" Bud cut in. "Let me show you to your room" he said.
"Don't you mean rooms?" Gideon asked with panic in his voice.
"Now I'm afraid that I only have one spare room for you two" Bud said.
"Oh that's fine I'm sure it'll be a blast sharing a room!" Pacifica said in an upbeat voice. "It's like a sleepover except it lasts the whole summer!" she added with enthusiasm. Gideon wasn't sure he wanted to have a sleepover with Pacifica for even one night, but now he was sharing the room with her for an entire summer! To make matters worse the "room" they were staying in was just a musty old attic with two beds, and an illuminati window. The attic did have one thing going for it though. It was huge. It was like having an entire floor to yourself, and even Gideon couldn't put a negative spin on that. Gideon decided to give the attic a chance... Then he noticed the goat on his bed.
"Get off my bed!" Gideon shouted angrily while shooing the goat off his bed. Gideon and Pacifica then proceeded to unpack their bags. Gideon finished relatively quickly because all he had to do was stuff his clothes in a drawer. Pacifica on the other hand took a lot longer. It took her a half hour to hang up all of her clothes in the closet that the attic had, and then it took her an entire hour too hang up what must've been a million posters of cats, unicorns and other girly things.
"How can you fit so much stuff in such a small bag?" asked Gideon who was observing her unpack from his bed.
"Skill" was all Pacifica said in response. Then she turned around and said "finished" in a sing song voice. Gideon ignored her and pulled a book out of his back pack.
"Don't be boring!" Pacifica said snatching the book out of his hands. "Let's go and explore our home for the summer" Pacifica suggested. Gideon tried to grab the book, but Pacifica was too tall, so he couldn't reach.
"Pacifica give it back!" Gideon snarled, still struggling to try and get his book back.
"Look Gideon were going and there's nothing you can do about it" Pacifica told him. Gideon grumbled but went along with her anyways. He wasn't getting his book back anytime soon so he had no other choice. "Bud we're going out" Pacifica yelled pulling Gideon along with her.
"Ok just be back before dark!" Bud yelled from the other room.
"Yes sir!" Pacifica said before dragging Gideon out of the shack.
"So w-where are we going?" asked Gideon who was worried about what plans Pacifica had for him.
"On an adventure!" She replied with a smile.
"Fantastic, are we going to a galaxy far far away?" Gideon asked laying on the sarcasm as thick as he could.
"God you are such a nerd" Pacifica said rolling her eyes. Unfortunately Pacifica didn't know where they should go either. She scanned the area for something to do as quickly as she could. Her eyes rested on the forest. "Let's go there" Pacifica said pointing to the forest.
"What! Are you serious! We could be attacked by a bear! Or worse!" Gideon shouted the distress in his voice couldn't be more apparent.
"Oh stop being such a worry wort, and let's go already!" Pacifica said skipping into the woods. Gideon decided he had to follow her, so he trudged on behind her. After all somebody has to keep the wacko safe.
