The Party
Mabel woke up very suddenly. Ever since the incident Mabel had been sleep deprived. It took her hours to fall asleep, and then she would just wake up in a cold sweat in the morning. A week had passed, but stress and anxiety were eating Mabel up because she wanted to be with her lil Gideon. Lazily she got out of bed, and rubbed her eyes. Mabel crossed the hallway that separated her room from Dipper's. His bed was empty. This was not an unusual occurrence as Dipper either never went to bed, or he woke up extremely early to get a jump start on the day.. Mabel had once asked him why he never slept, and he told her it was because of nightmares. Nightmares had tormented Dipper ever since they were kids. Mabel knew exactly where to find him. Mabel meandered around the mansion until she found herself in the basement facing Dipper. The walls were stained with dried up blood. Dipper stood in front of a table where he kept an assortment of tools both magical and modern. Mabel often found herself in his shoes when she was finished with an ex-boyfriend. Dipper was currently picking out magical items from their arsenal of pain. Mabel watched as her brother calmly tortured the dream demon living in their basement. Blood and tears oozed from Will, as the blue triangle wept from pain. Dipper showed no signs of disgust or joy. Dipper tortured with the same face he used in performances. A blank unchanging expression. He remained unfazed even when Will's blood splattered onto his face. To describe the torture would be difficult, as Dipper used magic weapons that only worked on dream demons. The important thing to note is that Will was screaming in excruciating pain caused by Dipper. Mabel recalled their first meeting with Will the dream demon. The demon had introduced itself as William Cipher. That was when Dipper and Mabel casted a binding spell that required two people. As soon as they had captured him William broke down mentally, and he has not stopped crying since then. Dipper took a break from torturing their demonic pet.
"Morning" he said blankly which was normal. Mabel was pretty convinced that Dipper had no emotions. Mabel had spent seven years getting used to Dipper's lack of "feelings". Mabel let out a yawn.
"Good morning" she returned the greeting. She turned her gaze over to the beaten triangle. "So what are you doing with Bill?" Mabel asked.
"My name is WILIAM!" The flustered demon said. Mabel knew he hated being called Bill, so she purposely called him Bill just to annoy him. Dipper glared at Will.
"Calm down Will" Dipper snapped. William shrieked again. Mabel saw that Dipper was still holding the magic torture tool.
"S-sorry m-master" Will muttered, barely audible. Mabel smiled with glee at William's pain. Whenever they went hunting for monsters, Dipper usually gave them some form of mercy, but he spared Will no mercy. Dipper made sure that Will would remember the pain that he received from Dipper.
"So did you find anything useful?" Mabel asked, getting straight down to business. The sooner Dipper got his dumb journal, the sooner Mabel got her vengeance on Pacifica. Dipper shook his head.
"William said he can't get me the journal without making a deal with me first" Dipper replied blankly. Mabel rubbed her temples. I guess it's back to square one for us, she thought. "But he did give me some useful information" Dipper added on, after noticing Mabel's disappointment. Mabel's eyes pulsed with curiosity.
"Oh do tell"
Pacifica woke up to the sunlight creeping into her room. She sat up groggily. Her body felt sore on the places where Mabel cut her. It was odd. Her cuts had been miraculously healed when Dipper showed up. Almost like magic she thought. It seemed that even though her cuts were already healed she still felt the pain as if they were still there. Pacifica looked around, and saw that Gideon was already out of bed, but he had left his bed a mess. Pacifica wondered if Gideon had even gone to bed. Gideon often skipped out on sleep if it meant more time to read through his journal. Pacifica stumbled down the stairs, almost falling a couple of times. She reached the bottom of the stairs, and she let her stomach carry her to the kitchen. Oddly enough the kitchen was empty. Pacifica had no desire to cook anything so she just ate pop tarts without even toasting them. She sat there at the table munching on her pop tarts in silence when Bud popped in.
"Hey kiddo, ready for the big day?" Bud asked. It took Pacifica a moment to realize that today was the day of the party. A week ago when Pacifica and Gideon had came into the shack after the fight with Mabel they had looked beaten and broken (probably because they were). They refused to tell Bud what had happened. That was when Bud suggested they throw a party. Pacifica had never been invited to a party, so naturally she was ecstatic about it. Bud had Pacifica help him plan out the entire party, and today was the big day. A goofy smile crossed Pacifica's lips.
"Yeah Bud, I'm ready" She answered cheerfully. Bud smiled at her. When they had come to the shack a week ago Bud was honestly afraid that something bad had happened, but now he was glad that he had found a way to cheer up the pair of adolescents.
"Good. Let's go over the plan with everyone one more time" Bud suggested. Pacifica nodded in agreement, and proceeded to follow him into the gift shop. Robbie and Gideon stood at attention waiting for Bud to address them. Pacifica made a mental note of how tired Gideon looked. The bags under Gideon's eyes seemed to be weighing him down. He was also paler than a ghost.
"Alright tonight's the night of the party, and here's how it's going to go down: Robbie will Dj the party because he is the only one able to master such complicated technology. Gideon you will be running the ticket booth. Remember five dollars is the entrance fee, and fifteen dollars is the exit fee. Pacifica you'll be the floor manager" Bud rambled off. Pacifica looked very confused. She raised her hand. "Yes?" Bud asked.
"What does floor manager mean?" Pacifica asked.
"It means you'll be in the party mingling with the guests, making sure they're happy, and you're in charge of entertaining them" Once Bud had finished his explanation he left the room to finish preparing for the party. Pacifica turned to Gideon with a concerned look on her face.
"How late did you stay up last night?" She demanded to know. Gideon looked up at her, guilt was written all over his face. He rubbed the back of his neck, and looked at his shoes.
"Look Paz, I haven't really gotten a chance to sleep, lately I've been studying the journal to figure out how Dipper healed you, and stopped Mabel's knife at the same time" Gideon offered his explanation, but Pacifica was not pleased.
"What do you mean?" She asked flatly.
"Some how Dipper can use real magic!" Gideon exclaimed. Pacifica rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, I know that, but why do you care how he did it? All that matters is that I'm still breathing because of his intervention" Pacifica said. Gideon frowned, and pulled a pen out of his pocket. He started rapidly clicking it as he always does when he is in deep thought.
"Remember he told us to stay away from them, Paz that's a threat" Gideon reasoned. Pacifica was taken aback by that statement. That thought had never crossed her mind. All that mattered was that Dipper had saved her. "Look, all I'm saying is that we should be prepared in case he does attack us" Gideon added on. Pacifica nodded, but she still believed that Dipper would never harm them. She left the room to go finish her own preparations for the party. Pacifica changed into a sky blue t-shirt, a purple skirt, black leggings, and neon green sneakers. Gideon on the other hand just wore what he had already been wearing. Cargo shorts and his black vest. The only thing Gideon had changed was the bow tie that he had added to his outfit. Gideon walked down the stairs, and noticed Pacifica looking at him strangely.
"What?" He asked, as he was confused. Pacifica face palmed.
"That's all your wearing?" She asked, disbelief spreading across her face like wildfire in a forest. Gideon raised an eyebrow.
"You know I'm just running the ticket booth right?" Gideon asked.
"Well yeah, but still..." Pacifica trailed off. Gideon rolled his eyes.
"Girls and their fashion" he muttered. The party started around six-thirty, and surprisingly enough a lot of guests showed up. They all flocked around Gideon as he managed to collect their money, and hand out tickets. The snaked line began to grow shorter and shorter as more people were let into the party. Gideon was putting money in the cash register when he looked up, and saw Mabel and two other girls. On her left was a small Asian girl who wore a green striped shirt matched with a green skirt. On Mabel's right was a gorilla of a girl wearing a pink shirt and purple shorts. Gideon narrowed his eyes at the trio of terror. Mabel stared back with eyes as cold as ice.
"What?" She asked snobbishly. Gideon just stared back at her. "You should be happy I'm gracing this party with my presence" she said in true narcissist fashion. Before Gideon could tell them to leave Bud came up behind him.
"What's the hold up kid?" Bud asked. "These three are paying to get in, so let them through" he told Gideon. Gideon snatched the money from Mabel and her cronies. After the three mean girls had joined the party Bud knelt next to Gideon. "Look kid, I don't like them anymore than you do. They're a bunch of bullies, but we have make our money somehow" Bud whispered so only Gideon could hear. Gideon let out a sigh in response. He nodded before moving on to the next customer.
Meanwhile the party was slow to start. At first everyone just stood around talking and texting. Pacifica wanted to see people dancing, so she decided to initiate plan rainbow lepricorn. She approached Robbie, and whispered something in his ear.
"Do I have to?" Robbie whined. Pacifica folded her arms, and started tapping her foot in rhythm. She gave Robbie a stern look in response. "Fine" Robbie sighed. He cut the music, and stood on a table to get everyone's attention. All eyes fell on the computer nerd turned Dj. "I just want everyone to know that whoever parties the hardest will receive the party crown" He announced while holding up a shiny crown for everyone to see. The crowd parted as Mabel strutted forward with her posse lagging behind her. She leaned against the table and looked at Robbie who was sweating because he was the center of attention.
"Why don't you just hand that crown over now" Mabel suggested confidently. She held her hand out expecting Robbie to just give her the crown. Instead something else happened.
"You have to compete for that, you know" Pacifica said, getting agitated, by Mabel's super sized ego. A smile crossed Mabel's lips.
"Who's gonna compete against me? I mean I'm the most popular kid in this entire town. After all I'm the most beautiful, smart, talented, and rich girl here" she rattled off, with an overbearing smile. Pacifica took a step closer to Mabel, their eyes were locked in combat.
"I'll compete, and I'll win" Pacifica declared. Mabel rolled her eyes.
"As if a talentless loser like you could ever beat me" Mabel drawled. Pacifica narrowed her eyes.
"May the best parties win"
While the party was getting started Gideon sat at the cash register, bored out of his mind. He had already finished with all of the people in line. Then Gideon noticed someone walk out of the woods. He strained his eyes to see who this person was. Gideon did not like what he saw. Dipper Gleeful had arrived to the party.
