Mabel Gleeful
It was the third night. For three nights in a row they had kept coming back. Pacifica had insisted they go again because she enjoyed watching the magic happen. Gideon agreed, but only because he wanted to figure out how they were pulling their tricks off. So once again they were at the tent of telepathy watching the Gleeful twins performing tricks that simply did not make sense. Pacifica watched the show with a smile that could melt an iceberg. Gideon sat there trying to watch the show, but something felt off to him. It was almost as if someone was watching him. He didn't figure out who until the mystical show was over. When the show was over the crowd flooded out of the tent talking amongst each other. The topic was the Gleeful twins of course. Gideon made his way to the exit. There he waited for Pacifica. As he was watching Pacifica he noticed someone was watching him. Dipper Gleeful's cold hostile eyes bored into Gideon.
After all the guests had left including Gideon and Pacifica Mabel turned to her brother with curiosity painted over her face. Dipper was not one for sticking around after they finished a show. Usually he would leave as soon as he could, but this time he had gone out of his way to say goodbye to the guests. There were a few reasons for why he might have stayed, such as he was selecting his next experiment, or perhaps someone had somehow incurred his wrath. Mabel however had a more scandalous theory.
"It's a rare occasion to see you bidding farewell to the guests. Perhaps a girl has caught your eye?" Mabel suggested mischievously. She then placed a finger on her chin, pretending to be in deep thought. "Now that I think about it you seemed distracted the entire night, so tell me who's the lucky girl" Mabel added her voice was molasses. Dipper looked irritated, but he decided to humor her.
"A boy actually" He said blankly, while giving her a cold look. Mabel grinned, her mind was running a million miles per hour. Could it be? Her cold emotionless brother had developed an attraction for another human being. Mabel's core was filled with curiosity.
"I didn't know you rolled that way" Mabel stated trying to draw more information from her brother. That was enough for Dipper. He had to put his sister's deluded fantasies down.
"Mabel I have no such interests. One of tonight's audience members holds a journal, and I need you to get it" Dipper said firmly. Mabel frowned, disappointed by her brother's lack of a love life. However she was also curios about this new boy who also had a journal. Mabel and Dipper had found their journal when they were nine. Their journal had the number 2 on it, and it contained a list of magical spells and artifacts. They had spent the majority of their time mastering the secrets of the second journal through various test subjects, most of them being human.
"And what is it that you need from me?" Mabel asked. Dipper looked at her. His eyes had a look that would make you think he was a doctor telling you that you had a terminal disease.
"I need you to seduce Gideon Pines, so that you can take the journal, or better yet convince him to give it to you" He told Mabel, as if she was nothing more than a pawn to him. Mabel knew that could be very true, she herself was not sure if she actually meant anything to Dipper.
"And after I have the journal how would you like me to deal with Gideon?" Mabel asked licking her lips in anticipation. Dipper began walking away, but he carried the conversation.
"You are free to play with him as much as you desire" He told her much to her satisfaction. Her wicked grin widened. It was just the answer she was hoping for.
The following morning Gideon awoke to the smell of sizzling bacon. His favorite alarm clock. He carried himself out of bed and walked down the stairs. He reached the bottom and turned around the corner, walking into the kitchen where Pacifica was already sitting. She was drinking a pinkish-reddish drink. Pacifica's face immediately brightened up when he entered.
"OhheyaGideonhow'sitgoing?" She asked speaking at speeds no human should speak at. Gideon stood in the doorway dumbfounded. Gideon was a smart boy, and he often decoded made up languages that the author had chosen to use to hide information kept in the journal, and he still had no idea what she had said.
"I'm sorry, what?" He asked. Bud who had been ignoring the two until this point decided now was a good opportunity to chime in.
"She's been like that all morning" he said turning away from the stove to hand Gideon a plate of bacon and eggs. Gideon took the seat next to Pacifica and began shoving food in his mouth. Pacifica did the same, only she was faster at eating, and had to stop three times to refill her secret mystery drink.
"What are you drinking?" Gideon asked. Pacifica shot out of her seat, and sipped to the fridge where she pulled out a pitcher of her mysterious drink.
"I mixed pink lemonade with orange juice, and added 28 sugar cubes" She said beaming at him. By some miracle she had managed to slow her explanation down so Gideon could actually comprehend what she was saying. Just then the doorbell. By the time Gideon had got out of his seat Pacifica was already in the other room answering the door. She opened the door to reveal none other than a timid Mabel Gleeful. She stood in the doorway her eyes cast downward while she rubbed her arm.
"Hi may I speak with Gideon?" she asked meekly. Pacifica just stared at her for a moment before processing what she had said.
"Oh yeah he's right here" she said grabbing a curious Gideon. "I'll give you two some privacy" Pacifica said, and with that she was gone. Gideon, being the awkward boy he was stood there speechless. The two stood there silent until finally Mabel broke the silence.
"I'm sorry I know this is sudden, but could you accompany me on a date?" She asked her cheeks were crimson. Gideon was not ready for that question. He had never been on a date before which was perfectly fine with him. He was mentally freaking out.
"How do you know my name?" Gideon asked. That question didn't cross most boys minds, they were just glad that THE Mabel Gleeful was asking them out. Nevertheless Mabel was prepared for this question.
"Well... I saw you at the last couple of shows, and I got curious so I asked around" She said. Gideon accepted her answer. He shifted uncomfortably trying to figure out how he was going to let Mabel down easy. Don't misunderstand Gideon, he had nothing personal against Mabel, but he certainly wasn't ready for a relationship.
"Look Mabel, I'm sure your a great person, but I'm not ready to be in a relationship yet" Gideon said gently. Disbelief flared out of her eyes.
"I promise it's just one date, to get to know each other" Mabel desperately pleaded, giving Gideon the puppy dog eyes. No man can resist the puppy dog eyes.
"Just one date?" Gideon repeated in a questioning tone. Mabel nodded confirming that it was only going to be one date. "Ok if it's only one date, then I guess I can come" Gideon told her. Mabel's face immedaitely lit up like a christmas tree.
"I promise it will only be one date" Mabel said lying through her teeth. Fortunately she was a good lier. "How about we go to that one fancy restaurant at 6pm tomorrow" Mabel suggested. Gideon wasn't to fond of fancy restaurants, but then again he wasn't thrilled about going on this date either.
"Sure" Gideon replied. Mabel beamed at him.
"Great I'll pick you up tomorrow" Mabel said before happily skipping away. Gideon shut the door and turned away. He walked into the living room and collapsed on the couch letting out a big sigh. Suddenly Pacifica's smiley face was above him.
"Sooo, what happened?" She asked with excitement.
"She asked me out" Gideon said as if it was the most annoying thing that had happened in his entire life. Pacifica squealed.
"You got a date before me? This is great!" Pacifica exclaimed. Gideon sat up facing Pacifica with an annoyed expression on his face.
"No it's not Paz!" He said to Pacifica's shock.
"What? Why not?" Pacifica asked confused.
"I don't wanna date yet!" Gideon snapped. "I only agreed to this date because I didn't want to hurt her feelings" Gideon explained. Pacifica looked disappointed, but she chose not to voice her disappointment.
"At least it's only one date" She said not knowing how wrong she was.
