I'm Going Home

Gideon was awake by eight because he wanted to get a head start on the day. He had a feeling that if he wanted to catch up on his summer reading then now would be the best time. He was going to be busy helping Bud and Pacifica run the mystery museum's grand opening, and after it was open he would be busy helping interested customers explore the museum. Gideon searched for one of his favorite books, "The Call Of Cuth3lu". He thought it was in his bag, but it had disappeared. Now that Gideon thought about it he was pretty sure Bud lost one of his adult books too. Gideon was considering a conspiracy theory, but decided he was just being paranoid. With no book to read Gideon went downstairs to eat breakfast. Fifteen minutes later Pacifica came down, and joined him. They were having the sophisticated meal of buttered toast and Orange juice.
"Are you guys ready for the big day?" asked Bud who had just entered the room. Gideon was a little nervous because he had a sneaking suspicion that the Gleeful twins would make an appearance. Gideon was snapped out of his worries by the loud sound of Pacifica belching.
"Excuse me" she said, a little embarrassed. Bud and Gideon just burst out laughing. They had never heard someone burp so loudly. They definitely did not expect that from Pacifica. "Stop laughing, it wasn't that funny" A flustered Pacifica stated, trying to defend herself. After the two boys stopped laughing they got to work cleaning the kitchen. Pacifica chipped in, and then the three of them got ready for the opening ceremony.

Gideon knew that the Mystery Shack was not the most popular tourist trap Gravity Falls had to offer, but he still expected more people to show up to the wax museum opening. He had spent all that time handing out fliers after all. The crowd was small consisting of an old lady, a guy wearing a pizza shirt, manly Dan, and of course the Gleeful twins. Gideon knew they were going to show up. They were probably only there to make fun of him and Pacifica for the thousandth time.
"Welcome one and all to the Mystery Shack's very own Wax Museum grand opening" Bud said to the crowd. Actually it was more like a small gathering of people. A very small gathering of people. Bud had paused to wait for the applause that he assumed he was going to get, but the very small gathering of people did not applaud him. Gideon thought he heard Mabel whisper something in Dipper's ear.
"Do you think if I applaud Gideon might like me more?" Dipper shook his head in disappointment. He had only dragged Mabel here because she wanted to know what his plan for getting the journal was. The Wax museum was his plan, and it was working like a charm.
"I would like to give a special thanks to my niece Pacifica, who created the latest addition to our wax collection" Bud gestured to Pacifica. She smiled widely in front of the very small gathering of people. Gideon thought Pacifica belonged on stage with her endless bounds of energy and her bubbly personality. While the very small gathering of people stared at Pacifica expectantly Bud wheeled around something that was covered by a tarp. "Behold me!" He said pulling off the tarp to reveal a wax replica of himself. At first no one in the very small gathering of people reacted, but then Dipper and Mabel simultaneously bursted into laughter. Gideon could not believe the nerve of those two. He looked over to Pacifica and saw that she was almost in tears. She had spent three whole nights working on that statue, and those two had the nerve to laugh at her hard work! Enough was enough Gideon marched straight up to the Gleeful twins.
"Stop!" Gideon barked angrily at the snobbish twins. For a moment they both stopped much to Gideon's surprise, but then Dipper started laughing again. Gideon glared at Dipper. "What's so funny?!" He asked venomously. Dipper took a moment to stop laughing.
"Sorry, I just find amusement in a peasant trying to order around a king" Dipper stated arrogantly.
"Wow you really are a piece of narcissistic trash aren't you?" Gideon asked rhetorically. Dipper's smirk dropped, and his face became a scowl.
"Trash?" He repeated, trying to wrap his head around how he could possibly be compared to a piece of trash.
"Yeah trash, T-R-A-S-H" Gideon literally spelled it out for him.
"Are you insulting my ability to spell now too?" Dipper asked seriously. During the entire fight Mabel had remained silent because whoever she sided with was a losing battle. She refused to risk straining her relationship with Dipper by going against him in public, but on the other hand if she went against Gideon it would only make it harder for her to get him to like her back. That was when Pacifica walked over. Just the sight of Pacifica made Mabel's blood boil.
"Why don't you two be jerks somewhere else" Pacifica suggested. Gideon could tell Pacifica was angry because she never ever used insults. Ever.
"Well why can't you go be stupid somewhere else?" Mabel asked joining the fight. Pacifica gave Mabel the sharpest pair of eye daggers she had ready.
"I'm not stupid. You're stupid, stupid" Pacifica snapped. It truly was a clever comeback. Mabel looked ready to snap someone's neck, probably Pacifica's. Dipper noticed the murderous look in Mabel's eyes, and decided it was time for them to leave before Mabel did something they would both regret. As Pacifica and Mabel traded insults Dipper grabbed Mabel on the shoulder.
"It's time to go" he told her. Mabel looked at him with disbelief.
"But I haven't finished telling her how useless she is yet" Mabel protested. Dipper scowled.
"The whole town is watching" he muttered referring to the very small gathering of people that had decided to tune in on Mabel and Pacifica's cat fight. Mabel nodded, and the two of them disappeared in a puff of smoke. Gideon looked over at Pacifica, and noticed she was crying.
"Paz?" He asked gently. Tear after tear stained the ground.
"I just don't get why they have to be so mean" she said. Her body was shaking with sadness. Gideon was at a loss for ideas to cheer up Pacifica. He had never seen her cry so hard.
"Do you wanna go see the fairies?" Gideon asked. Pacifica loved seeing the fairies. She would stare at them in wonder as they dazzled her with their beauty. When fairies fly they leave a trail of dust that was rainbow colored. Pacifica truly admired the fairies. That's why it scared Gideon to no end when Pacifica turned his offer down.
"I'm tired Gid let's just stay here" her voice was hoarse. Gideon decided not to argue so the two spent the night in the shack with an awkward silence accompanying them.

The next morning Gideon was awoken by Pacifica's shrieks of horror. He bolted out of bed, and shot down the stairs as fast as a half awake teenager could move. When he got to Pacifica he noticed that her statue was lying next to her missing its head.
"Paz what happened?" He asked gently. Pacifica who was kneeling by the dead statue looked up at Gideon with tear filled eyes.
"I don't know Giddy. I just woke up, and came to check my masterpiece when I found it like this" Pacifica explained while holding back her tears. Three nights of her blood, sweat, tears, and other bodily fluids ruined in just a single night. How was this even fair? Gideon's mind began drawing conclusions as to how this could have happened. Gideon was sure it was wax homicide. The question was: who committed the murder? Gideon wrote down a long list of potential suspects.

Dipper Gleeful
Mabel Gleeful
Dipper Gleeful
Mabel Gleeful
Dipper Gleeful
Mabel Gleeful
Dipper Gleeful

Gideon decided to go to Gleeful Manor to interrogate the suspects. He marched straight up to the door of the mansion dead set on getting a confession out of one or both of the twins. He rung the doorbell like fifty times. Gideon was really hoping that they were annoyed. Mabel finally answered the door. At first she looked extremely annoyed, but then she saw who was on the other side of the door.
"Well hello darling. What can I do for you?" she asked sweetly.
"Why'd you do it!?" Gideon snapped getting right to the point. Mabel seemed genuinely surprised, but then again she was a performer. One with world class acting skills.
"What are you talking about?" Mabel was clearly not on the same page as Gideon. Gideon studied Mabel's facial features while she talked. He was searching desperately for any sign of deceit, but unfortunately he was unable to find even the smallest trace of a lie in Mabel's voice. "Gideon what happened?" Mabel asked, pulling Gideon away from his thoughts.
"Pacifica's statue was decapitated last night" Gideon said gravely. Mabel frowned.
"Why would I kill a statue?" She asked.
"You've never liked Pacifica" Gideon pointed out. Mabel folded her arms, and leaned against the door frame. She gave Gideon a look that screamed 'really bro?'.
"I would never waste my time with a useless statue" Mabel informed Gideon.
"Well what about your brother?" Gideon asked.
"Pfft, please. Dipper's obsessed with your journal, anything short of stealing that would be considered a waste of time for him" Mabel stated confidently. Gideon left the mansion confused and bitter. A part of Gideon had really wanted the twins to have been behind the statue's missing head, but strangely enough Gideon believed Mabel was telling the truth. That raised the question. If not the twins then who had beheaded the statue? Gideon returned to the shack with the horrid taste of defeat still lingering in his mouth.
"Did you figure it out yet?" Pacifica asked. She seemed to be in a better mood than earlier. Gideon sighed and shook his head to indicate that they were none the wiser about who had killed the statue. Gideon stared at the ground disappointed in his lack of detective skills. That was when he noticed it. An odd footprint with a hole in it. It was his first actual clue! Before he had time to examine it closer Pacifica tapped him on the shoulder. "Come on I want to show you something" she told him. Gideon followed her up the stairs, and into the wax museum. The room was lined with statues all facing a coffin that was across the room. Gideon approached the coffin slowly. His eyes landed on the dead statue. He noticed something about wax Bud's shoe.
"Paz do all of the statues have a hole in their shoe like this one?" Gideon asked pointing out the hole in wax Bid's shoe. Pacifica looked at him with a goofy grin across her face.
"Of course silly, that's how you get them to stand" Pacifica explained. Gideon paled, and beads of sweat began to form on his forehead as fear took over.
    "Paz! I think the murderers--"
"Are standing right behind you" wax Sherlock interrupted. Gideon spun around so fast that he landed on his butt.
"H-how is this p-possible" Pacifica stammered. The wax statues seemed amused by Gideon and Pacifica's newfound fear.
"We were cursed by our master" Larry King answered bluntly.
"Well who's your master?" Gideon asked even though he had a pretty good idea of who it might be. There was only two people in this town that could use real magic, and they ran a show called the tent of telepathy. It looked like Jay Z was going to answer, but Sherlock gave him a death glare.
"It doesn't matter who cursed us, it only matters that he wants your journal" Sherlock said.
"Oh your master is Dipper" Pacifica concluded out loud. Sherlock seemed shocked that she had figured it out, but it really was not that hard. All the pieces were in place now. Mabel herself had said that Dipper never wasted his time outside of trying to steal Gideon's journal, so why was he at the grand wax opening? Because he wanted to check on his minions. Why were books going missing around the house? Because the statues were mistaking them for the journal. Everything made sense now.
"Now that you know our secret you must die!" Sherlock said menacingly. All of the wax statues surrounded Gideon and Pacifica while they cracked their knuckles. Wax Genghis Khan lunged forward only to be met by an electronic candle stick. It was the nearest weapon Pacifica could grab. Gideon and Pacifica watched as the wax warrior melted to a puddle.
"Giddy pointy melty things work on these guys" Pacifica said cheerfully. Gideon turned around and grabbed another candlestick. The two started hacking through statues. Two of the statues lunged at Gideon, but Pacifica had great protective instincts. She jumped right in front of Gideon and slashed through the two statues. Pacifica covered Gideon's weak points while Gideon covered Pacifica's weak points. One by one the statues began to drop. After five minutes of senseless violence Gideon and Pacifica were out of breath, but three statues remained. Larry King, Shakespeare, and last but not least Sherlock Holmes. "I take Larry King you take Shakespeare and whoever finishes first deals with Sherlock" Pacifica suggested decisively. Gideon nodded and threw his candlestick at Shakespeare. It hit him right in the stomach which began melting. While Shakespeare was occupied with his liquified midsection Gideon ran up and cut his head off. Pacifica was still busy dealing with Larry King. He swung his fist at her, but she rolled away. Pacifica gave Larry King a cut on the knee before jumping back to avoid another attack from him. The former talk show host attempted to walk towards Pacifica, but his weak knee collapsed on him giving Pacifica the perfect opportunity to strike. She ran the candlestick right through his face. She wiped the sweat off her brow and turned to see how Gideon was doing, but he and Sherlock Holmes had disappeared. She found them on the roof top exchanging blows. How they had managed to battle their way out onto the roof was beyond her. Wax Sherlock had taken a decorative sword from off the wall to try and counter Gideon's candlestick. The two weapons clashed together in rapid succession as Gideon and Sherlock tried to out match the other. It took a whole three minutes before Sherlock finally managed to disarm Gideon. He took a swing at Gideon, but Gideon was able to avoid the lethal blow. As Sherlock prepared to make the final attack Pacifica dashed up behind him, and threw the candlestick to Gideon. Gideon was able to catch it with just enough time to block Sherlock's attack. Gideon threw the candlestick back to Pacifica, and she stabbed the great detective in the back. Literally.
"Noooooo!" He shrieked in defeat as he melted like the rest of his cursed statues. Pacifica dropped the candlestick believing that they were safe, but the danger was not over. Pacifica felt her body get pinned to the chimney by an unknown force. Gideon was also frozen against the chimney. The two heard slow clapping as Dipper Gleeful floated onto the roof.
"Well I can honestly say that I didn't expect you to survive this long, but oh well. I guess I have to get my hands dirty" he said. The decorative sword that wax Sherlock had been using suddenly flew directly in front of Pacifica, but it was not a decorative sword anymore. She could see the lethal point as it was only hovering a few inches from her eyes. Gideon struggled to get free of Dipper's telekinetic hold.
"Let her go Gleeful!" He shouted in vain. A cruel smile spread across Dipper's lips.
"Honestly I think I like the look of absolute terror on her pretty face" he said while staring at Pacifica. He turned his gaze to Gideon. "But I think I would like the journal a little more, so why don't you give it to me, and we can all forget this ever happened" Gideon glared at Dipper with hatred in his eyes.
"I'll never give it to you!" He screamed in a fit of rage.
"Oh well, sorry Pazzie. Just remember it's Gideon's fault" Dipper said as he made a motion with his hand. The sword pulled back ready to shoot forward, and end Pacifica's life.
"Wait!" Gideon yelled. The blade continued to hover.
"Are you ready to give me the journal?" Dipper asked.
"No, I've hidden it in a place where you will never find it if you kill us" Gideon declared firmly. Dipper sighed.
"Fine you win this round Pines, but only because I'm not all that interested in killing blondie right now" Dipper said. With a snap of his finger he was gone, and so was his telekinetic hold on Gideon and Pacifica. Pacifica sobbed.
"Hey Paz, are you ok?" Gideon asked.
"NO! GIDEON I AM NOT OK!" She paused to take a deep breath. "Why do we have to deal with this? It isn't fair. I just want to have a normal summer" she said trying to hold back tears. Gideon rubbed her back to try and make her feel better.
"I know Paz, but we can't let those psychopaths get the journal or else who knows what twisted things they'll do with its secrets" Gideon explained gently. "We just have to hold out a little while longer" he tried to reassure her.
"No" Pacifica said firmly.
"No?" Gideon questioned.
"I'm going home" Pacifica announced.
