i tend to jump into a pool of my own thoughts,

drowning in my own feelings.

i get lost in the reverie of water,

the sensation of floating,

the careful focus of swimming.

but the longer i stay there,

the harder it is to leave.

poetry is for those who can't escape their own mind,

it is taking a bucket to scrape the water-logged words out of your head,

it is saving yourself by exposing your innermost thoughts.

there is something so revealing about poetry,

where you place the darkest thoughts,

where you bare your soul as you bare your teeth,

where no one can judge you,

for this is art.

and this is writing.

and maybe everyone else has thought these thoughts before.

i will be unperturbed.

this is a collection of poems on love, loss, and overthinking. i will put any trigger warnings at the beginning of each part. there will be some continuous themes throughout the poetry book, and some things that don't align with the other poems at all.

these are poems that i write at night, when i think no one's looking.
