Well, this time last year, I was in the same spot. Only, there was one other person next to me on this cold carriage ride. I felt alone all summer, even if my parents were still around. I didn't care. I just wanted the sister I had loved and cared for back. But, it wasn't going to happen. No matter what I did, or how hard I wished.

I still had my crystal. I hadn't taken it off since last year. I probably never would. The large Academy finally comes into view. The memories flood into my brain. The good, the bad, the somewhat confusing. The carriage stops and my parents just push me out and I grab my stuff. "Another year. Hopefully another friend." The headmaster opens the door for me.

"Hello, Princess Ashes." He bows respectfully.

"There's no need for such formality. I'm just a student."

"Of course." He straightens himself up. "This way." He leads me to an empty dorm. "Your fellow students will be here soon."

"Thank you." He closes the door and I place my stuff down on the closest bed. I walk over to the window and wait. Hoping to see a familiar face.
