"Leave of Absences"

999 Years Later

3rd Person POV with Addie

Addie was in her library studying a book on hostile mob behaviors when she heard a whispering noise coming from the codebook, as she decided to call it after finding out what it truly did. She took it down from her bookshelf and saw that it was faintly glowing a wispy purple and, almost instinctively, she knew what the whispers were telling her.

Packing up a backpack with everything she would need for the journey, Addie left a note on her book piled desk to tell anyone who would enter her home what she was going to do.

Strapping on her pack, she looked down to her puppy, Ivy, as she snuggled in her bed with her chew toy and a, too big, crown made from vines and flowers she had found around Beacontown, sitting crookedly on her head. After petting her a few times, Addie snuck out of her home, without disturbing Ivy, and shifted into her Elytra form, gazing down on Beacontown one last time before shooting off into the night.

3rd Person POV in Beacontown

"Hey guys!" Jesse waved to a group of workers carrying blocks of shaved wood to the new houses that were under construction and they waved back. Normally, when walking through town, she'd be accompanied by Reuben and Lluna, but they had gone to go visit Benedict for a while.

"Mornin', nice day huh?".

"Sure is."

"Hey Jess!" Lukas came running up to Jesse with a book and quill in hand as they neared the entrance to the mines.

"Lukas! How're the book orders going?"

"Awesome, I'm glad I could deliver my books to the people myself, it's really cool to hear what they think of my writing." Lukas smiled at Jesse and was about to give her a kiss on the cheek when,

"Gangway!" A loud shout was heard before a group of uniformed miners came running out from the mines, dropping their pickaxes on the ground in the rush.

Right behind them, Sadie and Jack came out from the mine entrance, weapons raised, to kill off the last of the cave spiders that followed them out from the mines. Slicing through them with ease, Sadie and Jack finished off the cave spiders in ten seconds flat.

"Phew, that was a close call." Sadie dusted off her teal and black armor before sheathing her enchanted diamond sword.

"You're telling me," Jack responded as he picked up the spiders' eyes that were dropped, "Those cave slider came out of nowhere. Ok technically they came out of that dungeon, but it was still unseen until they started coming after us."

"What happened here?" Jesse asked worriedly as she and Lukas ran up to the two Mine Guard members and Lukas rapidly pulled out his bow to shoot one last cave spider that was trying to sneak up on the two Mine Guard members.

"A run through the mines to look for Redstone went a little south." Sadie answered as she gritted her teeth and hissed in pain at the nick in her arm from one of the spiders gave her.

"You should go drink some milk, I'll handle the miners' injuries." Jack told Sadie as her face paled a bit and she clutched her arm in pain.

"Find Stacy and Stampy, they usually go to the animal shelter to give milk to the cats around this time." Jesse suggested and Sadie nodded in response as she clutched her arm tighter in pain and went to the animal shelter.

"Where's the rest of the Mine Guard?" Lukas asked Jack before they went to tend to the miners' injuries, that mostly consisted of scrapes and bruises.

"Tyron's visiting his homeworld to gather more magma blocks and Chai, Rose, and Vixa went to help Cassie Rose settle back into her home after the whole 'Herobrine's revenge plan' thing." Jack answered using a dramatic deep voice.

"So we're a bit shorthanded in terms of the team." Sadie added as she came up to them, fully healed and the miners dispersed to return to their homes, after putting their findings in the double chest that sat at the entrance of the mines.

"I see..." Jesse mused to herself.

"Hey guys," A new guy came up to the group with an enchanted stick in his hand. He had shaggy brown hair, green eyes, and wore a white t-shirt with black sweatpants and a gold chain.

"Stone!"

"What's up, Dreamer?" Jack began a complicated handshake with the guy as Sadie watched on, shaking her head at how long their handshake was.

"Stone? Dreamer?" Lukas questioned once they had finished their routine.

"This is our friend, Jack Stonecypher," Sadie introduced the guy to Lukas and Jesse, "He's been in town for a while now and, to not get their names confused, when in each other's presence, we call him Dreamer and him Stone." Sadie continued to explain pointing to each guy as she said their last names.

"I'm sorry I didn't know, sometimes I forget just how many people live here and how many more join every day." Jesse told him as she and Lukas gave him a regular handshake.

"Don't sweat it, I can only imagine how hard it is to lead a huge place like this." Jack waved off Jesse's apology, "Seriously, though, it really is awesome to live here in Beacontown, so many random builds and different styles of houses."

"Yeah, it's a little overwhelming at first," The group turned around in confusion of the new voice until Jesse and Lukas realized it was coming from the shadow of a tree nearby. Out from the shadow came Addie, a bit dusty and with various bandages, but it was definitely her, "but you get used to all the creative craziness of this place after a while."

"Addie!" Lukas and Jesse exclaimed at the same time and, no sooner than they did, a full-grown dog with a green-dyed collar and a vine and flower crown came running past them and tackled Addie to the ground and started licking her face excitedly.

"Ok ok Ivy I'm happy to see you too!" Addie laughed as she wiped her face and gave Ivy a hug around her neck from where she sat on the ground, "I've only been gone eleven months and look how much you've grown!"

"'Only eleven months'! When you said you needed to find all the missing pages of your infinity great grandfather's codebook, I didn't think you'd be gone this long." Jesse quoted as she helped Addie off the ground and hugged the life out of her.

"I know and I'm really sorry I just left leaving only a note, but the night I left, I heard a voice coming from the codebook saying 'all the pages needeth be gathered before the eclipsed night' and other stuff I didn't quite catch then until I did more research," Addie pulled out her codebook, but stopped mid-sentence when she saw Stone," Hey, you know, you seem really familiar..."

"You give me a sense of deja vu too." Stone smirked at his rhyme before he offered a handshake and Addie shivered a bit when she took his hand.

"Oof I thought handshakes were supposed to break the ice, not create it." Stone joked when Addie let go of his hand, making Sadie eye-roll and playfully mutter,

"Stone, you helpless flirt..."

"Woah wait that was flirting?" Addie asked panicked and confused.

"Yeah?"

"Sorry, 273 years on an island in the middle of the ocean really kept me out of the loop when it came to social interactions." Addie stated matter of factly.

"What!" Stone was the only one to exclaim and the others looked at him in confusion, until they remembered he was new.

"Yeah, apparently she was trapped on an island in the middle of nowhere for a looong time until Jesse and Lukas saved her and brought her back here." Dreamer explained to Stone as Sadie laughed at his reaction to the new information.

"Speaking of which, you were saying something about the codebook." Jesse brought their attentions back to the main subject.

"Right right sorry," Addie pulled open the book and showed them a page with an image of a smoky black blur with bright orange and red eyes writing in another language as well as some notes made in the margins in the standard galactic alphabet in Addie's handwriting, "It says here that the owner of this book, my infinity great grandfather, Torvo, used his powers to create a being of pure darkness that would have done his bidding without hesitation or question, but its creation was interrupted when two brothers stopped him. His plan was thwarted and his powers were taken and given to Melaferrum to deal with them."

"Who's he?" Lukas asked.

"Actually, 'he' was a 'she' and she was Torvo's apprentice and daughter." Addie paused and looked up at nothing in particular before correcting herself, "Sorry grand-daughter."

"What was that?" Jesse asked with concern.

"Oh, the night I left, I, also, started hearing Melaferrum's voice in my head, she's the one who told me that all the pages needed to be found." Seeing everyone's confused faces, she continued, "Apparently, after she had been given the powers of Torvo, she felt its power merge with her bracelet and when she died, later on, her life force was sucked into the bracelet and stayed dormant until that night to tell me to retrieve all the pages of the codebook." Addie beyond ran out of breath by the time she finished her explanation.

"Petra was right, she really does talk fast to where she needs to regain her breath." Dreamer told everyone as Addie frowned and muttered,

"I try to simplify my explanations, but it's really hard to for big things like this."

"I can tell." Stone smirked a bit in sympathy as Addie blew out a puff of air from her mouth and put the book away.

"I'm going to be in my home if you guys need me, Ivy and I have a lot of catching up to do." Addie told the group as Ivy began to jump on her impatiently with her toy in her mouth.

"Sure thing." Jesse told her as she picked Ivy up, struggling to do so a bit, and shifted forms to fly off, leaving Stone the only surprised one of the group, again,

"She can do that too?!" and the rest of the group chorused,

"Yes." Before laughing and dispersing throughout Beacontown to go about their normal lives, leaving Stone to himself in bewilderment.

AN- Here's an extra long chapter for y'all to enjoy for a bit since my house is still pretty crowded, crazy, and messy right now, but I had the day to myself to write this in a Starbucks where I had a really disappointing encounter with a couple of classmates from middle school, but, anyway, I managed to finish this chapter and am getting started on the next one so see y'all later, Bye!
