Chapter 11

The Polyjuice incident

[A/N: I'm going to change Draco's character a bit, in this story, he doesn't use the term 'Mudblood' often and usually doesn't care about Muggle-borns. So he doesn't outright hate them but still doesn't care about them either. Out in public, he can still be seen as a 'Pureblood fanatic' but back in the safety of the Slytherin Common Room, he doesn't talk about his father's beliefs much. BUT he still believes that most of the Weasleys are blood traitors (with the exception of Fred and George).  Also, I'll be showing Rose's point of view regarding Muggle-borns. If you've read 'Lord of Time' then you should be familiar with this theory. Also also, I'm giving Harry and Ron a little bit more time with the Polyjuice Potion, you'll see why.]

The day after the Duelling Club there was another attack, a double attack this time, Nearly Headless Nick and - surprise, surprise - Justin Finch-Fletchley...things are not looking good for Harry at all. And there is nothing I can do to help him without exposing my true Heritage and identity. La naiba! Why is this happening again? More importantly HOW is this happening again? The only other known Parcelmouth is Tom Riddle (Voldemort) himself and he can't come near the castle without possessing another person from Hogwarts. Not that it would've happened so soon, considering the damage Harry caused to him last year AND Dumbledore is being more cautious with the Professors this year, at least I hope the old fool is more alert this year, regarding people who can be possessed.

It doesn't help that Fred and George are making a total joke about it, for appearance's sake, of course, to support Harry and keep his mind of off the fearful eyes and judgemental whispers behind Harry's back. One thing I have noticed is that Ginny Weasley seemed a bit on edge, more so than the rest of the school. Hmm. The Weasleys are Purebloods, no reason to be on edge all the time. Curious, very curious. I'll have to keep an eye on her for now, somethings up with her and the rest of the Weasley Clan obviously can't see it. Percy might, but he's probably just worried about her.

As I was, casually, walking towards my next class I caught a piece of a very interesting conversation between the Golden Trio.

"It's because Malfoy's bursting to say it's really him. You know how he hates anyone beating him at anything, and you're getting all the credit for his dirty work," Weasel said with hatred.

Hmm, what are they accusing Draco of now?

"Not for long," said Granger satisfied. "The Polyjuice Potion's nearly ready. We'll be getting the truth out of him any day now."

Polyjuice?! They're going to try and get into the Slytherin Common Room! Hmm, what to do, what to do...I know, I'll just hang around Draco for the next week or so, at least then I'll know what they're going to accuse him of. I wouldn't be surprised if they thought he was behind the attacks. Honestly, for the brightest witch of the century, Granger can be really stupid sometimes. Oh well, it's not like they know how to open the Chamber or what the 'Monster' is, can I really blame them?

Yule (Christmas) evening after dinner at the Slytherin Common Room

"Hey, Rose? I'm going to look for Crabbe and Goyle, they should've been here by now," said Draco suspiciously. "Hmm? Ok, be careful. Don't run into the Golden Trio while your out," I said distractedly, not looking up from my book I was currently reading for research purposes. He snorted. "As if! I'm not letting them ruin what's left of Yule! I'll be back soon," Draco replied and left soon afterwards.

15 minutes later Draco returned with Crabbe and Goyle in tow...wait...since when does Goyle wear glasses?! Hmm, something tells me the long-awaited confrontation between Draco and the Golden Trio is finally happening, better start paying attention to them.

"You will not believe where I found them, Rose! They were being cornered by Percy Weasley. Good thing I went looking for them, huh?" Draco said.

"Hmm. I suppose," I said cautiously. Soon Draco showed then the blasted Daily Prophet article about Mr Weasley and 'Crabbe's' face morphed into a look of rage.

"What's up with you, Crabbe?" snapped Draco.

"Stomach ache," grunted 'Crabbe'. Ah, so that's the Weasel then, which means Harry is 'Goyle' then. Hmm, I wonder where the Know-it-all is.

"Well go up to the hospital wing then! I'm sure Madam Pomphrey would help you even with all the Muggle-borns within her wards," said Draco. "You know, I'm surprised the Daily Prophet hasn't reported all these attacks yet. I suppose Dumbledore's trying to keep it quiet. He'll be sacked if it doesn't stop soon. Father's always said the old coot is the worst thing that's ever happened to this place. He loves Muggle-borns, Muggles too for some idiotic reason. A decent Headmaster would've sent the Muggle-borns home long ago, back to the cursed Muggle World," Draco sneered.

Seeing the facial expressions of the supposed Crabbe and Goyle, I decided to educate the three of them (Draco, Harry and Weasley junior). "Actually..." I started, which made the two imposters jump, not realising I was here the whole time. "Muggle-borns aren't really 'Muggle' at all. Think about it. It makes no sense whatsoever that two Non-magical beings can produce a magical child. It just doesn't work that way with DNA, which is a muggle term for your genetic code that you're made out of. According to my research, the first wizard was a child of an incubus and a muggle and the first witch, fae and muggle.  Which leads me to believe that Muggle-borns are just distant descendants from a squib. It's not surprising really when Purebloods interbreed to much between cousins, the magic fades until one of them produces a Squib, which is then cast out of the Wizarding World and left forgotten in the Muggle world. It makes sense, if you actually think about it," I explained, and seeing 'Crabbe's' face I continued: "In short, Weasley, Muggle-borns aren't actually entirely 'Muggle' at all and Draco here is not behind the attacks!" I said.

"Weasley? Where? Gryffindors can't get in here, even with the password!" Draco cried outraged.

I smirked. 'Draco, Harry and Ron Polyjuiced themselves as Crabbe and Goyle. Harry's Goyle and Ron is Crabbe. I just saved your ass, by the way,' I said in Draco's head.

Draco's eyes widened. "You two think your so clever, thinking I'd actually attack the Muggle-borns, well Squib descendants now, well guess what? I don't give a damn about them and since I actually don't know where the Chamber is or what the monster is you can't blame me for any of the attacks Crabbe and Goyle! Get out! And don't think I'll forget to mention to Professor Snape about the Polyjuice Potion you brew! Out!" Draco roared at them.

Harry and the Weasel scrambled out of the common room as fast as they could when they realised they've been caught. I smirked. Well then, my job here is done.

"Wipe that smirk off of your face, Monroe! You knew all along and you didn't even warn me!" Draco snapped.

I snorted. "Please, they needed to be taught a lesson. Besides I wasn't sure, it was an educated guess involving their clear outrage seen on their faces and the fact the Goyle doesn't wear glasses at all. The fact that both of them were shocked when I called 'Crabbe' Weasley just confirmed my suspicions. Now if you'll excuse me I have some unfinished business waiting for me in Myrtle's bathroom. I'll be back before midnight."

***

As I stepped into the girls' bathroom I heard something behind me. "Harry, that better be you under a Disillusion Charm," I said and was surprised when Harry appeared with an invisibility cloak. "No Disillusment Charm, but it's definitely me all right," he said with a grin. "What are you doing here anyway? I thought everyone avoided Myrtle's Bathroom?" he continued.

"Hmm. Why are you following me, Harry?"

"Can you tell Malfoy that I'm sorry. You were right, both of you. It was wrong to assume that Malfoy was behind the attacks without any solid evidence and my dislike towards him got the better of me. I'm also sorry that I didn't come to you first with my suspicions, considering you knew Malfoy better than the rest of us. We're still friends, right?" Harry said with a sheepish look on his face.

I shook my head at him, he really has a problem with his insecurities...no wonder he doesn't have many friends besides Weasel and Granger, well that and the two Gryffindors hardly lets him make more friends. "I'll tell Draco and apology accepted. Yes, we're still friends. You know, if you have any problems with this year's 'events' you can talk to me, right?"

"Thanks. I know, I'll let you know if there are any problems, in general, that I don't think Hermione and Ron can help me with," he said grinning.

"Hmm. Also, inform me of your theories behind the attacks, when you're not stuck with the Gryffindors, of course," I added as an afterthought. The Golden Trio's theories regarding the attacks and the Chamber could be of use to me since my research and investigations are not helping me.

"Will do. Goodnight, Angie and Merry Christmas!" Harry said before leaving towards his Common Room. Hmm, well that's one thing sorted. Now, where is Myrtle?

"Warren!" I hissed into the bathroom and Myrtle came out of one of the bathroom stalls.

"Hello, Mystique. Fancy meeting you here. What do you want?" Myrtle said mischievously.

"Please refrain from using that last name in the future, I go by Monroe now. Who opened the Chamber?" I snapped.

"Always so pleasant, glad to see that hasn't changed. I don't know who opened it this time, never really paid attention. What I can say is that the Golden Trio was in here for weeks, brewing a potion," She replied stiffly.

"Hmm, yes a Polyjuice Potion. I did wonder where they would've been brewing it. Thanks, Warren. Keep an eye on the sinks for me will you?" I said, dismissing her and walking back to the Slytherin Common Room. Myrtle was of no use to me, I'm still no further from figuring out what brought on this mess and it's driving me insane.

I just hope the Basilisk will stay away from Harry and the few Muggle-borns in Slytherin.
