Chapter 39

Class 1 A stared blankly at the screen of the TV that recently got installed in the bunker. They were soon going to be fighting in this, this...war, and they were, at the moment, on the losing side. It had been quite a shock when the letters came to their door, ordering their involvement in the battle, as the letter had so nicely put it.

Their parents were appalled and scared, but if they went against the order then it would be declared as a direct display of disobedience against the government, rebelling, so with tears in their eyes and grim, sombre expressions they sent their children to war.

Now the children, the students, sat in a damp and mouldy bunker as the sounds of endless battle raged above them. It had been days since any of the students had slept properly. None them had gone into the field, yet, they were tasked with taking care of their upper-classmen who often stumbled in an inch away from death.

Many of them now realized the horror that was their government, their ruler and controller. Especially Bakugo who had been uncharacteristically quiet and distant, but they all were.

"Listen up!" One of Endeavor's workers bellowed at the tired teenagers.

"All of class 1 A and B will be dispatched to Tokyo at 7 am tomorrow." He read loudly from his clipboard, arms stuck stiffly to his side.

The mentioned students tiredly nod and mumble a quiet "Yes sir." As they got up and prepared for the next day.

This was going to be the moment that they had been training for since they had been enlisted, a real battle, but were they ready for the horrors of war.

Only time would tell.

"Again!"

I was huffing in and out like a steam train, my muscles were aching, my hair was glued to my forehead with sweat and the training had barely begun.

Kaminari rushed at me, his batons charged up with his Quirk. I narrowly managed to avoid a jolt to my head and rolled out of the way. Not giving me a chance to power up, he hurtled one of his batons at my hunched figure, which I manage to block with my forearm.

His fingers drifted about his whip as we stared each other down, patiently waiting for the other to make a move. Activating my Quirks, I assess his current weak points, there aren't many and none that I can exploit from this distance anyway.

"If I can just get him to some water!" I mumbled softly to myself.

I guess I'll just have to wait for him to come to me otherwise I'll get shocked before I can even begin my attack.

Taking a few steps back I eyed the fire alarm and waited for him to attack. He darted forward charged with electricity from head to toe, almost glowing like a light bulb. When he was about a metre away from me I hit the button and the alarm sounded and the sprinklers went off, causing Kaminari to glitch and twitch and eventually he froze, unable to move.

A mocking applause could be heard over the gushing water and alarm. Toru and Okami stood there drenched from inside out and were slowly clapping at my underhanded performance. I smirked at them and stuck my tongue out and turned the fire alarm and water off, releasing Kaminari in the process.

"Really Sparky I thought you would've had a solution for this by now?" I tease and poke him in the face when he sits down on one of the now wet plastic chairs. He just glares at me and pushed me into one of the puddles that littered the training ground.

"I have, but I didn't expect that there would be water here, so I took it off before we started. Now you've made me all wet." He teased me, with a suggestive smirk on his face.

He never let's an opportunity to flirt pass does he?

I just laughed at him and got up from the ground and went to clean the mess I had made. Sauntering over to the wall I pushed another button, this one was purple and had a fan printed on it, and hot air whipped around the training area and dried up all the water.

"All clean and ready for the next match!" I shouted over to Okami and Toru (who was in her visible form). They nodded and waved at me and climbed onto the training the ground.

I skipped over to Kaminari and watched, from the safety behind the glass, Toru and Okami fight.

"Hey Bunny let's get out of here." He whispered quietly after fifteen minutes of the girls playing a complicated game of hide-and-seek.

My mind instantly goes into the gutter.

"Okay." I hesitantly respond, trying not to think of what he wants.

It's not like we have to watch their match any way, they only watched the last two minutes of our match, so we didn't need to watch all of theirs.

We found ourselves walking towards the Mission and Debriefing room. It was empty and the only light was the glow of the smart board that showed the Heroes which had been taken out and a map of all of Japan and the cities we still need to defeat. In the corner sat four stacks of chairs, a broken coffee machine and a printer, all reasonable distances apart.

"What happens?" Kaminari asked me in a soft and almost vulnerable voice.

He walks up to the glowing board and examines the contents that it displayed so proudly.

"What happens when all of this is over? If we win, what will happen?" He whispers, his back to me as he gently touched the red crosses that decorated the map, proving our victories.

"What do you mean?" I asked and placed my hand on his slumped shoulders.

This is unexpected.

"We have only three more cities to take control over. Yokohama, Nagasaki and Tokyo. We started out with 14 cities, 48 prefectures and now we are a few steps away from victory. We have been preparing for this war for years. What will we do if we win?" He had turned around and was staring at me imploringly, begging for an answer.

"If, if we manage to win, I guess we can do what we always have dreamed of doing. I can go to Scotland and visit my mother's family, Toru can become an architectural designer and you...you can finally open up your business or become a translator." I say in a far off tone, reciting the dreams we had told each other so often as kids.

"However, just because are so close does not mean we can just assume we are going to win. How does that saying go, oh yeah, don't count your chickens before they hatch." I reprimand him in a stern voice.

He just nods and was about to say something but a blaring alarm cut him off, signalling everyone to go and get ready for the next dispatch.

Reminding everyone we are still at war.

I nervously tightened my shoes and locked the metal clasps down over the shoelaces, so they would not come undone.

To my left stood Kaminari, Dabi, Twice and Magne, they were all wearing an upgraded version of their previous suits, a lightweight armour in their signature colours under their clothes and goggles or a helmet to protect their eyes and face.

To my right was Okami, Todoroki and Toga, who were all dressed in similar attire, a battle worthy body suit that covered everything except their faces and were designed to enhance or support their Quirks.

We were the front liners and our squad was one of six who were tasked with taking over Tokyo. The stealth division had been sent in about three hours ago and confirmed capture of Tokyo's mainframe and information tower.

Opening up the trapdoor of the basement we had gathered in, we all slipped through and silently made our through the underground tunnels which had been built when Quirks were first discovered and the super powered people needed a way to get around safely and now...we are using it to get to Tokyo.

After about an hour of running we had arrived at the portal Kurogiri had set up a few weeks ago. We all greeted the guard, and we leapt through the swirling mist of purple space and arrived in the centre of Tokyo, well... under the centre of Tokyo.

"Okay listen up, you all know your duties. Tomura said that there is a group of Heroes guarding the area, Twice, X-Stactic and I will be taking them out. Dabi and Shoto will head straight to Endeavor Towers where Fragmented Prism will be waiting to help you get in. Toga and Magne you are the distraction and clean up crew and are to get rid of as many Heroes as possible. Okami you are our solider in the shadows and you are to infiltrate their underground bases and take control." I restate a summary of their orders.

Okami gives me a feral grin before transforming into a rat and scurrying away.

On the count of three we burst through the man hole alerting a small group of Heroes on patrol.

Everyone sped away leaving only Kaminari, Twice and I.

"Let's do this thing!" I yelled and activated my Quirks with the others quickly following my example.

The final battle has begun.
