Chapter 40

Life was really nice after that. Michael shyly offered to take her on a date sometime, once they could get Chiron's permission, and Beck agreed with a smile. Percy teased her endlessly about it, of course, but she just ignored him. It was a big brother thing, she supposed.

The Aphrodite kids never did figure out who vandalized their cabin, and it happened two more times about three months later. Beck wasn't involved in the second or third time, and she knew the children of the goddess of love would catch on eventually, so she warned the Stolls not to over-use what she'd taught them.

"Gibbsooooooon."

Beck looked up from her food and made a face at her cousin as he plopped down across from her. "Di Angelooooooooo."

"Do you and Michael want to go on a double date with Will and I on Saturday?"

She raised her eyebrows. "Is that a good idea, having so many demigods outside the camp border?"

"Well, no, but who said we were going out of camp borders."

Beck snorted. "That sounds sketchy at best. What would we be doing?"

"Dinner and a movie or something, I dunno. What do you think we should do?"

"I think you should ask Michael. I'm fine with doing something like that as long as we'll be safe."

Nico nodded and got up. Percy, watching in amusement, raised his eyebrows.

"My little sister has a sense of humor?"

Beck stuck her tongue out at him and flicked a piece of apple at him.

Percy caught it and popped it into his mouth. Beck snorted and went back to her food.

Double and even triple dates became a very common thing with the children of the Big Three. More often than not, Beck and Michael would be accompanied by Will and Nico, or Jason and Piper. Percy and Annabeth came with every once in a while, but they were more inclined to cuddle in the sand on the Long Island Sound beach.

Beck met more gods and demigods. Hephaestus seemed to particularly like her. She wondered if it was because he felt like he could relate to her, as an outcast in their own families.

"Hey Belle."

She looked up and smiled, seeing Michael standing behind her.

"Hi. Sit with me?"

Her boyfriend plopped into the grass happily and Beck shifted to lean against him, resting her head on his shoulder.

"Have you thought about what you're going to do when summer ends?" Michael asked softly after a few minutes.

Beck opened her eyes slowly, a frown crossing her face. "No, not really... what are my options?"

"Well, I'm a full-time camper. We stay here at camp all year round, and that's always an option. You'd be alone in the cabin though, Percy's heading off to college at New Rome University."

Beck grunted. "I really don't like being in that cabin, that stupid fountain drives me crazy... I wonder if I would be allowed to sleep somewhere else."

"Doubtful." Michael shook his head.

"Okay, so if I'm not a full-time camper what do I do?"

"The part-time campers go home." Michael shrugged, making Beck's head move a little. "You go to school like you usually would, you fight off monsters every once in a while, you try to live a normal life until next summer."

"I wouldn't be able to see you."

"Not as much, no." He sighed. "Chiron does let us leave camp sometimes, but we have to tell him what we're doing for him to okay it."

Beck was quiet for a few minutes, thinking. Michael let her contemplate her choices, watching his half-siblings play in the water at the edge of the lake.

"If you need more time, I don't blame you." He finally said softly. "You just have to let Chiron know by the end of the week."

Beck nodded slowly, frowning at nothing. "What made your decision for you?" She knew he had family living outside the camp still, but they were barely in touch with him anymore and he didn't like leaving camp anyway.

"When Nana died Mom got really aggressive, and she was always telling me that I was at fault for it. I just didn't want to deal with it anymore."

Beck nodded and turned to look at him. "Do you want me to stay full-time?"

"Of course I do, but if you don't I'd completely understand why." Michael shrugged.

"Thank you." She said quietly, kissing him softly and getting up. "I'm going to go talk to Chiron."
