The world is beautiful, mankind is beautiful. Because both mankind and the world can change. We still can change the world and ourselves. We might not be able to do big things. But we can do small things. And by doing so, we can change the world

At least that's what I think now.

I woke up in my own room. I looked at the clock and it showed me the time and date, 9 July 16:24. Almost no time has passed since I was sent to the future. The sky was covered with clouds and my house was quiet. I sat down and tried to recall everything that has happened in the last five days. I promised Nakami that I would do everything I can to save this earth, but what can I do?

I walked to the kitchen to find something to eat. I looked inside the fridge and found a sandwich. I also realized that I was out of milk. And so, I planned to go buy some after I eat. I heated the sandwich in the microwave. Then I sat down at the table and ate. When I was finish, I put my dishes in the sink and got ready to go buy the milk.

When I got out of my house, it was raining. I went back inside to get an umbrella. And then I was off. It was raining heavily. And again, as I was walking, I saw that the environment I lived in was polluted. I thought of ways to save it, but all of the plan I thought off, couldn't be done alone.

I arrived at the supermarket a while after. I went inside and bought some milk. When I was going to pay, I saw a television on the cashier. The news was on, I saw the percentage of crime in the country has increase in great number. Then I remembered my promise to the future Nakami. To save this earth, I need to decrease crime too, but what could one high school student do?

I left the supermarket and went home. On my way it was raining more heavily than before and the sky was dark because it was covered with clouds. As I was walking, I tried to think of a way to save the earth, but I couldn't find any. Every single plan I came up with wouldn't have worked. There were so much things that have to be changed in the world, a high school student like me wouldn't be able to handle it alone. I was about to give up. I was about to go back being an earth hating person like before. I walked under my umbrella in the middle of the rain. And in my desperation, I saw a little girl. It was Nakami. I stopped a few meters from her, I saw her standing by the road. She didn't had any umbrella or anything to cover her from the rain. But what caught my eyes were the tears that fell from her eyes, the tears of sadness. She was crying. And in a second, I remembered my promise with the future Nakami. I held my umbrella to my side, I looked upwards and made up my mind. I ran towards her quickly. Nakami didn't realize I was there, until I got close to her.

I stood in front of her, then I held my umbrella on top of her. The rain wasn't falling on her anymore and I could see her tears clearly. The tears of sadness that came from an honest girl. She looked to me. I gave her a warm smile, "If you stay out in the rain, you'll catch a cold Nakami."

She looked to me, "You remembered my name?"

I pat her head, "Of course I did Nakami. Now can you tell me why are you crying?"

She kept silence and kept crying. Then she looked to me, "I don't know why I am crying. But I miss my mother."

I squatted down, "Do you know where your mother's grave is?"

She wiped her tears and said, "Yes I do."

"Then let's visit her tomorrow morning. We'll bring flowers to her. And for now, let's go to my house. We'll get you clean and we'll eat dinner together." I said.

Her tears stopped, she looked to me. Then more tears started to fall down. I asked her, "Why are you crying now?"

She wiped her tears with her hands, "I don't know." And with a big smile on her face, "But I'm happy." She said.

I told her, "If you want to cry, you can use my shoulder." Then she hugged me tightly as she kept crying with tears of joy.

Soon the crying sky was also peaceful, the sun came out as Nakami kept crying. It's almost like the earth is showing its happiness because one of the people found happiness, because Nakami found happiness. Then Nakami took a step back, she wiped her tears and she showed me a face with a big smile on it. I stood up, "Nakami, can you help me? I want to save this earth but I couldn't do it alone. Do you want to help me save this earth?"

She smiled, "Yes! I will help you! Kio!"

That's right, we could never do anything if we're alone. But if we're together, we can do something. We might not be able to do big things, but we can do small things. Small changes to the world and to each person on the earth. That's what changing the world means, that's what saving the world all is about, changes.

The earth is dying, but it's dying slowly. Society might be corrupted, but it's corrupting slowly. As mankind and as human being, we are the only one who can save this dying earth. We can make changes starting from right now. Because in the end, what's important is not the effect of the changes, but the will to change itself.
