Blood

Luna stood in front of me, her back facing me. She flicked her tail back and forth, like a ticking clock.

" The border between light and darkness is thin...

Beware the fraud and the hidden watcher

Find solace in a sanctuary beside and among a pelt of darkness.

Under the moon, not stars, an unlikely bond forms." Her form flickered like a dancing, dark, flame as she glanced at me with her bi-colored eyes. " I'll be waiting, Blood.." Her form began to fade like morning frost. Her frosty eyes bore into my own as she faded. Wait, she never had frosty eyes! What's going on?!

" Ah..! Luna!" I bolted upright, kicking all four paws, sending my bedding everywhere. " Luna... What could this mean?"

" Ugh... Blood, be quiet... I'm trying to sleep." Midnight grunted beside me and rolled over in her sleep. I froze, expecting her to wake up, but, to me relief, she was only sleep talking. I carefully stepped out of the bedding and slipped out the den. 

" I think its time, now." I thought as I trotted across the hunter's clearing and down the path that lead to the entrance. " It's time I started looking."

I snuck out of camp, looking to both sides before darting across the open, moonlit meadow.

" Luna said she's waiting for me..." I thought as I, soundlessly, dove into the shadows. A night patrol passed by, one of the wolves flicked his tail. 

" What's wrong Fang?" a gruff growl asked.

" Nothing, I thought I heard something." he responded. " It's probably some squirrel that doesn't want to be caught.

" That's a lie! He knows I'm here! He has one of the best noses in the Pack!" I thought." Why would he say he didn't scent me? No matter, I have to get to Luna!" The patrol continued out of sight, I sighed in relief and stepped out of my hiding spot. I bounded along the trail that lead to the edge of the forest. " If there is anywhere my howl could reach Luna, it's at the edge of Demon Pack territory. It's the open area out of ear shot of the other wolves." I leaped over a large boulder and charged out of the bushes leading to the human world. I glanced around, spotting a large rock jutting out of the earth. " Perfect!" I scrambled up the rock. Lifting my muzzle to the full moon above, I howled. " Luna, please hear my call..." I thought as I focused my energy into the howl, enchanting it as my father has taught me to, sending it far and wide. " I hope I'm doing it right..." After I stopped howling, I pricked my ears to listen for a response. For several long minutes, I heard nothing. " Perhaps I did it wrong..? Was I supposed.." A faint howl reached my ears. Instantly I recognized the signal. One of the shadow wolves has found what I'm looking for! I pricked my ears, straining to hear where the signal came from. The signal came from a human city nearby. Was she there? I leaped off the boulder and hit the ground running. 

" Come find me when you're ready..." her voice rang in my head, like a warm, spring, wing blowing over me and bringing the sweet scents of flowers. " I'll be waiting..."

" Wait for me, Luna, I'm coming!" I growled as I leaped into the shadows, determination fueling  and burning within me.
