Chapter 7

Bellona ran after Caspian after he had bolted from the dungeons. She panted as she followed him into a room, stopping when she realized where they were. Miraz and his wife slept just before them. Bellona never knew how sweet revenge could feel.

Caspian pulled his sword out, placing it under the neck of Miraz. This jolted the man awake. "Thank goodness," he chuckled. "You're safe."

"Get up!" Caspian ordered, moving enough to allow Miraz to move without the sword piercing him. Bellona pointed her sword at the woman and she slowly began to wake from the disturbance.

"Caspian?" The female questioned.

"Stay where you are," Caspian ordered the female before turning his attention back to Miraz.

"What are you doing?"

"I should think it's obvious, dear," Miraz spoke to his wife as he stood out of bed. "Some families might consider this inappropriate behavior,"

"That doesn't seem to have stopped you!"

Bellona looked between Caspian and Miraz before focusing on Caspian's face. He wanted revenge for something. She was glad they were on the same page for something.

"You are not like me, are you?" Miraz seemed to be testing something of Caspian. "Sad, the first time you've shown any backbone and it's such a waste."

"Just do everyone the favor and kill him already," Bellona spoke. As the woman in the bed rustled, Bellona pointed her sword at the woman. "Do it or I'll do it for the both of us."

"Put the sword down, Caspian." Bellona narrowed her eyes at the woman as she pointed a crossbow at the prince. "I don't want to do this."

"We don't want you to either," came Susan's voice. Great, now Bellona and Caspian were busted.

"What are you two doing? You're supposed to be in the gatehouse!" Bellona sent a cold stare at Peter. In the end, he wouldn't understand the revenge that Bellona and Caspian desire.

"NO!" Caspian cried out. "Tonight, for once, I want the truth! Did you kill my father?" He snarled as he stepped closer to Miraz.

"Now we get to it,"

"You said your brother died in his sleep,"

"That was more or less true," Miraz told his wife.

"Caspian," Susan spoke again. "This won't make things better."

"Kill him Caspian, or I will," Bellona told him, ignoring a look of disapproval from Peter.

"We Telmarines would have nothing had we not taken it," Miraz spoke like a sword wasn't being held against his neck. "Your father knew that as well as anyone."

"How could you?"

"The same as you will pull that trigger," Miraz glanced at his wife. "For our son." He walked into the sword, blood pouring from the shallow wound he made.

"Stop!"

"Stay right there!" Bellona now pointed her sword at Miraz. He was now the victim of her cold stare.

"You need to make a choice, dear. Do you want our child to be king? Or do you want him to be like Caspian here?" Miraz questioned while maintaining eye contact with Caspian.

"Fatherless!"
"NO!" The woman cried out as she fired her arrow at Caspian. Luckily, it only hit his arm. Bellona and Peter rushed in the direction of Miraz while Susan checked on Caspian.

The door Miraz disappeared through was shut tightly. Bellona slammed her fist against the door before taking off running with Peter and the others.

"Peter?!" Susan demanded as he kept running.

"Our troops are just outside!" He claimed before he continued to run. Bellona followed after him, swinging her sword at Telmarines that tried to stop them.

"Peter, it's too late!" Susan told him, which Bellona agreed with. "We need to call it off while we still can."

"No!" Peter grunted while spinning a wheel to lift the gate. "I can still do this!"

"More Telmarines coming," Bellona announced as she spotted a torch coming out of the castle. "We need to leave, now!"

"Help me!" Peter called out. Bellona shook her head in disbelief. Did he not care about protecting the Narnians?

"Exactly who are you doing this for, Peter?" Susan questioned her brother as she helped him raise the gate. He didn't answer her.

A faint thundering of footsteps could be heard. The Narnians were coming. No turning back now. Bellona brought her other sword out as Telmarines came running towards them.

"For Narnia!" Peter cried out as they ran among Narnians to fight the Telmarines.

Bellona swung her swords, one blocking the swing of a Telmarine and the other slicing across his body. At one point, she felt something warm splatter across her face.

She looked up and just above her was Miraz standing on a balcony. Bellona followed the lead of a minotaur, swinging her swords to kill Telmarines along the way.

A cry from the minotaur grabbed Bellona's attention. She looked up to see him hanging from Miraz's balcony. He moaned in pain from an arrow being shot into his shoulder.

Bellona's eyes followed the minotaur from being pushed from the balcony to landing on the ground. She curled her lips in anger before looking back up to Miraz. He stared down at her.

"Just wait, Miraz," she called out to him. "For my sword will be the one to pierce through your body. I will carry your head on my blade through your palace. All will know that I was the one that killed you."

"Get her!"
"Fall back!"

Bellona rushed down steps, wincing in pain from her arm. It didn't stop her from fighting though. She was going to kill as many Telmarines as possible, even if it meant her death.

Peter's voice could be heard over the commotion. Ordering people to leave and to retreat. Bellona couldn't care less though, she was going to fight for Aslan, for Narnia.

"Bell, get on the horse!" Peter shoved her toward a horse that Caspian had brought out with him. The woman looked around as she mounted the horse, allowing Caspian to hold onto the horse as they started to gallop, waiting for Peter to escape as well.

Arrows from Telmarines continued to fire at them, all aimed at the minotaur that held up the main gate. It was the only gate that would allow everyone to escape back to safety.

She wrapped her arms around Peter's waist as they ducked under the gate that was being held up by the minotaur. There was a helpless roar with a crash and Bellona looked over her shoulder. Her stomach dropped, seeing Narnians behind the gate. They were all going to die, and there was nothing they could do to help.

Peter nudged the horse into a gallop, jumping the rising bridge to the other side. Bellona couldn't force herself to look back. Cries of the Narinans would haunt her dreams.

Once they got far enough, Bellona told Peter to stop. "Stop the horse!" She repeated herself, getting attention from others. Once the horse stopped, Bellona jumped off before walking ahead. She couldn't bear to be on the horse a minute longer.

"Bell,"
"Bellona,"

"Shut it you Telmarine!" Bellona snarled at Caspian when he used her name before looking between him and Peter. "I understand that a Son of Adam will sit on the throne of Narnia, but those weren't your people. Those were Narnians, they were my people! And we just left them for dead."

Bellona panted before turning around and walking ahead of everyone. She didn't care for the company of any one. Now, she wanted Miraz dead.
