Chapter six

Enjoy :)

"Canon ball!"

Pinkie jumped off the dock, splashing anyone near with water when she hit the surface. Breaching the surface of the lake, she was immediately met with the glares of the students caught in the splash. She giggled, looking apologetic.

"Oops. Hehe."

Turns out, Applejack had been right about the dock. The rebuilding it had took even less time than before. Twilight was the one to handle the box of nails while Pinkie helped with placing the wood in the correct spot. Principal Celestia and Gloriosa planned a welcome barbecue for the day after they got there. Now that the dock was rebuilt, the adults saw it safe for the students to swim and partake in other outdoor activities at the lake.

"I told ya." Applejack boasted. "We just made this trip a hundred times better."

Sunset rolled her eyes, a smile on her face. She closed her eyes and let herself float on her back.

"Ok, ok. Just shut up and enjoy the water."

Applejack had her feet dipped in the water, not feeling up to getting into the lake. Soaking in the sun, and hoping not to get a sunburn, was enough for her.

"I got our food, babe."

Applejack turned her head and looked up, using her hand to block the sun. Rainbow stood there, holding two styrofoam plates in he hands. Applejack decided to mess with her. She looked Rainbow Dash up and down, smirking. The two piece Rainbow was wearing hugged her figure nicely, but was school function appropriate.

"I see somethin' else I'd like to eat." She commented suggestively.

Rainbow snickered. She took a seat next to AJ, a noticeable blush on her cheeks.

"Shut up." She commanded without any real heat in her voice. "Wait until later to try and get into my shorts. You're starting to sound like me."

They chowed down on their lunch. Rainbow, having the appetite of four people, had went for seconds, Twilight joining her after getting out of the water. The two walked away, completely unaware of Applejack and Sunset Shimmer watching them. Applejack leaned back on her hands, smirking.

"Am I wrong for staring at her ass?" She asked.

Sunset, who hadn't taken her eyes off her own girlfriend, shook her head.

"Not one bit."

After a moment, they looked away. AJ stared out at the lake. The view was just as great as when she'd first seen it. She must have zoned out for a bit, because a drop of water on her head made her come back to the present. Looking up at the sky, she saw a cluster of grey clouds where the white, fluffy clouds had just been. Rain fell, quickly becoming heavier in mere seconds. The students were caught off guard.

Sunset looked at Applejack, standing, gathering her stuff.

"The weather app didn't say it would rain today." She commented, clearly confused.

The students were ordered out of the water. As they all headed towards the camp cafeteria, Applejack noticed Rainbow Dash. She was standing by herself, staring up at the sky.

"Rainbow!" Applejack called, snapping her out of her trance.

Rainbow looked her way.

"C'mon." AJ urgently ushered her to follow.

Rainbow seemed to hesitate, unwilling to move from her spot. Applejack grabbed Rainbow's hand, tugging her along. Everyone packed into the cafeteria, finding wherever they could to sit or stand around.

"That was random." Sunset commented, staring out the large glass window, watching the storm outside. "It wasn't even supposed to rain today."

Twilight sighed.

"This trip is already starting off on a rocky start and it's not even me this time."

She turned to the rest of the group.

"I'm not just being paranoid, am I?" She questioned. "You girls don't think this might be another magic incident, do you?"

Rarity rolled her eyes.

"If it is, it better not keep popping up so constantly. I'd like to actually have fun this week." She said, checking her nails.

"It must be a coincidence." Fluttershy suggested. "A random rain storm isn't that weird. They can happen."

"And the horses were probably spooked by a snake or something." Sunset agreed.

She smiled and shook her head.

"What are we talking about? There's no more wild Equestrian magic in this camp. We're all just traumatized from last time we came here. Everything's fine."

"Um." Pinkie raised an eyebrow, pointing at something. "Is Rainbow Dash sitting outside?" She asked.

The girls turned towards the entrance of the cafeteria. Applejack was standing by the door, arms crossed. Out on the porch, sitting in the pounding rain, was Rainbow Dash. The girls looked at one another, before they headed towards the entrance. They joined Applejack, watching Rainbow Dash just sit there. She wasn't dancing in the rain or anything fun. She was just sitting there, unbothered by the heavy rain and rumbling thunder.

The teens jumped when a loud crack filled the room, a bolt lightening lighting up in the sky. It wasn't safe for Rainbow to be out there.

"Rainbow!" Sunset called out to her.

Rainbow didn't seem to hear her. Sunset shared a look with Applejack.

"What's wrong with her? She's never been like this before."

Applejack anxiously chew on her bottom lip, crossing her arms.

"She's been acting weird since the start of this trip. Even on the way here. I don't know what's up with her."

"What if it is Equestrian magic again?" Twilight spoke up. "Maybe she's sensitive to it or something."

They had no idea.

"She would've told me if it was Equestrian magic." Applejack said, staring out at her girlfriend. "She probably just... I don't know, is being weird since she's away from home or somethin'. Maybe she's having a mental breakdown. Maybe she's having a mental health crisis and needs her meds adjusted."

That was true. Magic wasn't the only source that could alter someone's behavior.

"But, then why is it only happening here at camp?" Twilight wondered out loud. "I think we should just keep an eye on her for now and if anything else happens, we'll talk to her about it. Applejack, think you can talk to her later when we go to sleep? She'll probably have an explanation. If not, then just keep an eye on her and take note on her behavior."

Couldn't hurt to try. If Rainbow was gonna talk to anyone it would be AJ.

"You betcha. Now, let's see if we can convince her to come inside before she gets hit by lightening or something." She said, grinning.

The girls, minus Fluttershy, stepped out onto the deck. The wind blew the rain, causing a mist to spray them. Applejack looked ahead at Rainbow Dash. She and the others looked at one another before approaching the lone teen. Applejack sat down beside Rainbow, her hat safely with Fluttershy indoors.

Applejack was soaked in seconds. She turned to Rainbow Dash. Rainbow had her face turned to the sky, eyes staring at nothing. It was like she was in a trance of some sort. Applejack was weirded out.

"RD? Can you hear me?" She spoke up.

Rainbow didn't respond at all. Nothing. Applejack reached out and touched her shoulder. Rainbow finally looked at her. Applejack could've sworn, for a split second, Rainbow 's eyes were much darker.

Rainbow blinked. Her demeanor was totally normal.

"Oh hey, AJ. I was just looking at the storm. I love storms."

Rainbow's shoulders slouched. Resting her elbow on her knees. The sound of thunder didn't even phase her, though it practically shook the building.

"That's... that's nice." Applejack responded, not knowing how else to respond to that. "Though, it's mighty cold out here. Plus, it ain't safe to be outside during the storm. Let's head inside, Sugarcube."

Rainbow turned back to look out into the rain.

"Alright. I like the rain. It drowns out all the noise and everything seems so calm. Like, everything else just fades away, don't you agree?"

Applejack stood up, taking Rainbow by the hand. Rainbow gave a little bit of resistance, but let herself be pulled inside. The couple were given their beach towels that Applejack had managed to grab when it first began to rain.

She glanced at Rainbow Dash. Rainbow was looking around in slight confusion. She seemed to have snapped out of her trance.

"Rainbow."

Rainbow looked at her.

"Uh... hi. Why is everyone here?" She asked.

Did Rainbow not notice anything that had happened within the last fifteen minutes? She seemed genuinely lost.

"Uh... the storm. We were told to head in here until it passes. Remember?"

Rainbow had an exaggerated look of a memory darning on her. She smiled, though not as confidently as usual.

"Right. I-I remember. Totally, yeah. Sorry. Just zoned out. I'm probably just tired or something."

Applejack slowly nodded. She eyed Rainbow suspiciously.

"Ahuh."

Or something.

Rainbow looked at Pinkie.

"This week is weird." She said, grinning humorously. "What's up with this place?"

She and Pinkie went on to have a conversation, as if nothing had happened. The rest of the group were clearly weirded out. Something weird was going, and not just with the camp.

So yeah. Lemme know your thoughts :)
